- Tudonga is an ancient pilgrimage that monks have walked on for centuries. This practice is another form of training for the monks. It reminds us of living simply, detachment, impermanence, and meditation.
This journey for me is symbolic of life in general. The road of life is long. It comes with many difficulties such as aches and pain, illnesses, exhaustion, ups and down, etc, and on this long journey its important to practice one's mind to be still and calm.
Through all the turbalances, we'll come across many different people on this road to support us. We'll encounter many friends who will walk along this path with us. But one thing that is key is that no matter what comes our way, just KEEP ON WALKING. Keep focus and just keep putting one foot in front of the other.
This story is personal to me because it shows the journey of my international brother monks from the Papae Meditation Retreat. This pilgrimage was taken in northern Thailand to the Pai International Meditation Retreat center over a 5 day period. While the pictures may be beautiful, the journey was NOT easy with the extreme weather and windy roads. While this pilgrimage happens yearly in Thailand, not many people get an opportunity to see what it's like in a more in-depth look.
In this video, I wanted to give you that lens. I wanted to show you the generous people that we encounter, the beautiful sites, the rich culture, and quiet moments of the pilgrimage as well. So welcome to our world and I hope you enjoy :) #pilgrimage #monks #meditation

I can see myself taking that wonderful sacred journey with the monks for 5 days, why not? In fact, I envy their way of life. Who wouldn't want a peaceful, simple, communal, non-materialistic way of life?
We live be in such a chaotic world especially nowadays, it literally drains every cell in my body 🥵

I often watch the wonderful video of the pilgrimage as a form of meditation. All it represents is quieting to me. It brings me some clarity & peace. I love hearing the chanting and the friendly chatting Between the participants. They are happy! So am I.

I really liked this. It felt like a meditation. The monk with the sun glasses gave me such a cool monk vibe. I found the scene where the monk tied his robes, really interesting. Reminded me of Japanese traditional clothing. I then noticed that every monk had their own way of doing their obi/ belt. Looking forward to more videos as you have a great eye.

I have to confess that I have to listen to all your videos twice.
There is something about your voice that is like a lullaby to my ears. So my first listening session is to sleep and relax and them the next day to soak it in.

i completed yesterday only 9 days course of sattipathana once again.. no mobile, just been with nature & whole day from 4 am to 9 pm only meditation( just break for lunch & rest in between for 2 hrs) took me in spiritual world once again..

I'm right now in a emotional mental burn-out. In my country there are only a fee monks. In januari I'm going to visit a weekend a Zen monastery. Love to see this!

The floating wooden 'island' reminded me strongly of the Korean film 'Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter...and Spring' - which I highly recommend. The film's Buddhist tradition is Zen (or Son), but it expresses multiple messages.

One thing is sure that monkhood is not at all easy; rather it is much more difficult than being worldly because it is bestowed only on selected few souls. Those few selected souls are really lucky to indulge in full-time meditation with the sole aim of attaining NIRVANA.

Definitely but for me there are a few logistical hurdles :) , decent hotels, I don't do 🏕 camping , loos or rest areas. Thanks for the video Monk Nick, for me the background music didn't jive with the content. Be safe 🙏 , the world needs you.
