B&W is American made, and they use American made steel in all of their products. I have the other style made for the multi-pro tailgate, 2 1/2 " with a 7" drop. Also a B&W goose neck trailer ball assy for the puck system. The Curt ball assy fit was extremely loose. As you stated their attention to detail is top shelf.

I mean it's a beautiful hitch, probably very well engineered and built, but sometimes the KISS approach is better.

If you use your hitch at work. Might be multiple times a week you need the hitch. Maybe only five minutes to move a trailer out of the way. So taking the hitch totally on and off would be a pain. Plus some people need an adjustable drop hitch anyways. Because they use different trailers. Little different then just putting a regular hitch off and on to tow your boat or Rv for a weekend trip.

Might have to do some measuring. I have a dodge Durango. For my boat it needs a one inch drop. I have a 2 inch drop hitch. With a one inch riser ball. I use it for hauling some small trailers as well. With the one inch drop. The small trailers are tilted up. So I was thinking about buying the regular adjustable b+w. I have a f350 xl with a bulletproof hitch. But sometimes that’s out in one of my farm fields. Or has a different trailer on it. May buy the gmc version hitch. So it does not stick out as far.. Just have to make sure the up portion does not get to close to the bumper. During the summer I normally do not take the hitch off. As it could be multiple times a week I might use the hitch.
