    So there are quite a few people who are commenting about having or not having or needing or not needing the 4way plug. First, the 4way harness is still extremely common on most trailers under 4,000lbs GVWR and Boat trailers. Second, if you have the Tow Package on new GM trucks but Not the trailer technology package, you get the 4way above the 7way plug on the same plug (the 2023 Chevy Trail Boss I'm reviewing has it). If you opt for the technology package you no longer have the 4way plug over the 7way, instead you get the camera ports. Hope this helps folks who are viewing the video.

    You have a 4 pin. It is located in the bed. Several people switch the position of the two. Move the one with the camera ports to the bed and the one with 4 pins to the bumper. You will need fakra extension cables to use the camera connections.

    Quite frankly, I prefer the 7way connection anyway. The spring that holds down the doors to keep the connections clean is pretty strong and I feel that over time would damage the trailer wiring of the 4 way.

      I agree with Jac. My truck has a four pin connector and I use the adapter to plug it into the seven pin connector anyways because I do not like the pressure the door and the spring put on four pin connector where the seven pin connector is designed to have the door and spring pushing down on it.

    I noticed it in some of TFL's coverage, where GM just doesn't include a 4way connector in the newer trucks, ever since they started including a second camera connector. Previously they had the camera connector in the void spot on the opposite site of the plate mount, and had the 4way with the 7pin, now they just don't bother with the 4way. Though even in the mid 2000s, they didn't have them either, my dad had to use a 7pin to 4way connector when towing with his work truck. As he prefers 4way connectors for his light duty trailers, even the boat trailer is 4way. Luckily he's had 2 Ram 1500s since 2017 (a 2009 Laramie and now a 2017 Sport) and both have the combination 4way and 7pin connectors and loves the Rams for their ability to tow, haul and be relatively reliable.

    Just reading thru your responses to some of the comments is very entertaining. In one you reference going to pick up a trailer and not having the adaptor so along those lines you made no mention of a ball mount not being provided. Anyone who has one of these would know they needed a ball mount and a adaptor .Why becouse they would have checked. And according to my dealer it should be in your glovebox. Unless your dealer forgot to include it. Also you missed a opportunity to direct people to your sponsor to buy one if needed. Almost a vailed excuse to bash GM.

    It wasn’t that long ago that trucks with trailering packages only came with 7 pin anyway.

    I say convert your trailer plug to the 7way plug and always keep an adapter in the truck. The 4 way option is not a big miss in my opinion, I really don't think it's a big deal.

    • @BigTruckBigRV
      @BigTruckBigRV Год назад +3

      It's not, unless it is because you're towing a trailer that needs it. Kind of like a fire extinguisher

    Tow a trailer that maxes out that truck and you will be amazed on how it really does both pulling it and fuel mileage Especially compared to a gas engine!!

    A whole video about a missing $5 adapter. Yawns.

    • @BigTruckBigRV
      @BigTruckBigRV Год назад +3

      I'm guessing you don't tow often because if you were ever in need of that $5 accessory and you don't have it or realize that you need it you'll find yourself in a really bad spot. If you're stranded in the middle of the desert thirsty you don't have a 50-cent bottle of water isn't it similar.

    • @BigTruckBigRV
      @BigTruckBigRV Год назад +3

      Also, that adapter is $10-12.... Not much of a difference.....except 100% more expensive than you posted... But who cares about the details right? I could make a video on the difference if that would help 👍

    I mean an adapter is dirt cheap and just runs in line with the wire anyways. And with how few trailers have a 4 pin anyways due to laws about trailer brakes, it's dumb to have a seperate plug

    I feel like this is a bit dramatic trying to knock this truck for not having a 4 way connection.

    • @BigTruckBigRV
      @BigTruckBigRV Год назад +1

      Why? If it didn't have windshield wiper blades would you knock it? Things to may not use very often aren't important until you need them and don't have them. If I took the truck to pickup a trailer out of town and didn't know I needed a 4way plug/adapter and nobody locally sold one... Well?
