    There's actually an easier way to get this done. You can cover your acrylic disks with cling film, or with press'n seal completely on one side (the one that comes in contact with the cake) and leaving the other side a bit uncovered. Then you frost the cake and freeze it for a few minutes. After the frosting has set, you can now peel the film or press'n seal off the acrylic disk and remove it carefully. Then, peel the film off the cake. That way you don't have any chance to ruin the top frosting layer. Hope this helps!:)

    I put a little bit of Crisco on the board and then the parchment that keeps it stuck on there and very easy to takeoff

  • @koenhouse
    @koenhouse 5 лет назад +14

    Remove the board first when the frosting is soft, then chill the cake before you remove the parchment paper

      Actually you’re supposed to put it back in the fridge raider and let it firm up and then take the top parts off that’s what keeps the crisp lines

    Which do you think would be better? The 8.5-inch circle or the 8.25 inch? Half an inch of frosting all round seems excessive, but perhaps there are decorative techniques that require that much icing.

  • @nis4nikki1

    Can this technique be used when icing a cake with whipped cream?

  • @judyfleming6269
    @judyfleming6269 5 лет назад +2

    It seems like freezing or at least refrigerating would make it easier to take off.

    When you say you freeze the cake after using the acrylic disk to add buttercream to the cake, do you just place it in the freezer or do you put in in a container or cling wrap? Thanks - Georgia

    hi. thanks for this video1
    can you please please do another one using the acrylic discs and then cut the cake so i can see how much frosting is on the edges/sides? i cant decide between the .5 and the .25. i feel sure that i would want the .25 because im sure that will give plenty of frosting, but i just dont want to make the purchase and wish i would have gotten the .5 size. thank you

    Do you think these acrylic disks will be as helpful for doing a semi-naked cake? Or does this technique lend itself better for standard amounts of frosting? Thanks!

    • @CakebyCourtney
      @CakebyCourtney  7 лет назад +1

      I think you could use the disks but you'd want to get a smaller size. Mine are 8.25. For a semi naked, you don't need the extra .25 space.

    • @CakeSafeLLC
      @CakeSafeLLC 6 лет назад +2

      We sell .00" sizing disks for semi naked cakes :) So you'd buy a 6.00 inch disk set for a cake baked in a 6 inch cake pan.
      Our customers also love our Acrylic Icing Scrapers for naked cakes. They glide across the cake instead of tearing at it like metal icing scrapers do.

    If you put your cake into the fridge or freezer for a few minutes, the parchment will not take off all that frosting.

      Rhi-Ennen Dewey she said cardboard rounds. So use two in lieu of the acrylic disks. You can wrap those cardboard rounds with Glad cling wrap (there’s a special one which is spill-proof).
