  • The final major piece has been removed from the Rustbucket Shitbox and the POS is officially out of my shop! BYE!
    I removed most of the quarter panel and roof sill all in one big piece up to A-pillar. Unfortunately, the rust prevented me from taking more but that's okay. This is a slight change from the original plan but significantly better and easier down the road. Good enough for a racecar!
    The rest of the red chassis was stripped and any last remaining worthwhile parts have been salvaged and kept. Finally the ITR gets its indoor space back!

    Cant' wait to see things come together. My RSX has some rust spots and I know your video will show a lot more of the process than some others do. Just wish I had the local friends who were into body work and/or the nerve myself to start trying it lol.
    Hope to see you on the track next year. ✌

    16:40 Have you taken off the quarter panel already?
    If not, use a belt sander around the edges of the spot welds and it seperates the outer skin (on the white eg)
    saves the inner panel.

    • @HondasAreNotForChristmas
      @HondasAreNotForChristmas 8 месяцев назад +1

      It'll leave the spot weld attached to the inner skin.
      All you do is grind it of with a die grinder etc..

    • @EricKutilRacing
      @EricKutilRacing  8 месяцев назад +1

      Yeah, quarter panel has already been removed with a combination of the spot weld drill bit and a finger belt sander!

      @@EricKutilRacing yeah the finger belt sander is what I would use to remove the spot welds on scrap panels👍

    Why you don't use the donor cars to make fiberglass copies of the parts you need instead of cutting them? Thanks for your videos! 👍🏻

    • @EricKutilRacing
      @EricKutilRacing  8 месяцев назад +4

      Yeah, it's an option. It has it's positives and negatives though. Replace this quarter panel with steel is easy. The roof will be carbon

    Enjoying your content. Before you scrap the red body is not worth drilling everything off it ? Yes it takes up room but saves keep sourcing donor cars . Speaking from experience 🏁🏁

      Thanks man, I appreciate it! It's a k24 but it's detuned to around 200 whp. The vettes are also detuned. Gltc is a power to weight class so everyone must run around 12.5 lbs per hp

    Dude for safety reasons I would drop the fuel tank and all the lines out of the car. Should take about a half hour.

    • @EricKutilRacing
      @EricKutilRacing  8 месяцев назад

      Not with all that rust. Any exterior bolt on that POS was hell. It's done now so not much i can do. On the actual racecar though, I already drained the fuel so it will be safer.

      I bought rotiform Aerodisc's which are 18" or 19" and only fit on rotiform wheels. However, I modded them and made my own brackets to fit them to the 6 spoke wheels I had. I was pretty lucky that they fit up almost perfectly

      I dont disagree with that. I've had a pretty long wheel to wheel racing career with minimal impacts and crashes (ignoring the eg hatch crash). This quarter panel wasn't even damage in track, it flipped in a highway crash. So I'm hoping this bodywork lasts a while
