One more tip: if you slide the jaws and plastic washers off the auger and directly onto a slim screwdriver they will slide right back on in the right order.
Thank you so much. My husband has been an Master Electrician for 35 years and he could never have put this together without you video. You saved the day. Thanks again from his loving wife.
This was a perfect step-by-step guide for the replacing of an auger! Not only did you save me some money - but I got some kudos from my wife for doing it!! Thank you so much!
My auger broke. I found the part on Amazon and ordered it. I was lucky to find this wonderful video! I followed this step by step and was able to install my new auger and it works! Thanks Repair Clinic!
Repair Clinic videos are definitely the best place to go when fixing any appliances. I'm 56 yr woman and they have saved me so much $ doing repairs myself. Just order parts, watch and voila, fixed. They guided me thru dishwasher heat element and ice auger in GE Fridge. Thank you so much for showing us how. You definitely saved me hundreds and these days, that's huge. 👍🏼
Thank you for posting this video. Even though my parts were not exactly the same as those in the video, the instructions were thorough enough that I was able to replace my broken ice maker auger with your help. You saved me a repair bill.
Thank you so much for this video. I replaced the Auger and Auger plate as both were cracked also had to remove and lube the Auger drive with food grade grease as the auger drive was frozen solid. I'm very grateful you saved me a lot of money. As the tech wanted $125.00 just to come to my house + labor and repair. I did it my self for for $38.02. They would probably charged me 250.00.
Thank You! Very clear and thorough step by step instructions. I was able to change the broken auger and broken protection plate with your video. Thanks! My wife is mad at you though because she wanted a new fridge. 😂

Wow, what a fantastic tutorial! About halfway into taking apart our ice bucket to replace the auger, I didn't think I'd ever be able to put it back together. Then I found this video which presents the steps in an extremely easy to follow manner. I did a lot of pausing and rewinding. Thank you so much!
EXACTLY what I needed...! I started it out by myself, but then ran into the problem of not knowing how to separate the auger assembly from the main housing - I was afraid of prying too hard or in the wrong place - This video was SO clear and concise. GREAT job..!
Excellent video wow just saved me a service call and about 130 bucks...Each step is clear and easy to follow. Again thanks and i will give this thumbs up.
I followed the instructions, and I can hear the gearbox turning on. But no ice comes. It doesn’t sound like the auger is turning. Could it be on too tight? I’m stuck.
Top notch. Showed clearly the blade assembly onto the shaft, which was nice for determining order and orientation of the plastic washers. I would have had mine done in under a half hour had the metal shaft on my non-GE replacement auger been machined properly (had to use a rotary tool to extend the flats farther down the shaft).
Just finished. Your video made everything a snap. One thing I would add is to be VERY aware of how the cogs and washers come off the auger shaft. The washers are not all the same.
Great instructional video. I would have never figured out the shaft nut was reverse threaded. Probably would have broke it trying to get it off. Thanks again.

Lifesaver of a video. Thank you! I have a 2006 model icemaker and was concernered the auger wouldn't be the same size, yet it was and then video was so very helpful. We have an ice dispenser again!
Super helpful! Needed to remove the blades from our auger (cause they work very poorly and break ice when you don't want them to), your video got me past the point of being stuck, thank you!
Magnifico. The mechanic was charging me $85, I bought the part $17 and this video did the rest.... with my help of course...lol I I held the screwdriver.

Amazon auger I received is correct length and shaft length is the same. However, the first spacer distance is longer on the new one. This leaves a gap between the spacers and the first metal piece. Thought I had not put correct spacers on at first. Then in comparing shafts, saw the difference in length of round part of the two shafts. Adding a spacer won't work, because the flat area of shaft is too short for all the pieces to be assembled. Other than having the shaft milled down, I can't see an easy fix.

Thank you for this well done video. Your excellent close-ups let me see the order of the washers and blades. I was sure to order the correct part #, but the shaft end (flat area) was longer than the original, resulting in the 1st two washers to go back on being loose. But it worked fine that way - tried adding washers, but it bound up the auger.
excellent video! other than getting the E-ring off, it was a piece of cake, super easy to follow with perfect clear instructions! Thank you soooo much!!

I found a c-ring in the bottom of my cup one day. I would have delved into it soon anyway but if I knew exactly where it should be it would make things easier. There it is. It retains the auger in the housing. This sure helped. Thanks.
The grinding discs will go on either way, but notice how there is an offset pattern to them before you remove them and then again as you put them back on. Thx for the video.
some idiot who lived in the unit before me put a plastic baggie filled with herbs in the ice bucket, and it got all twisted up in the gears at the end of the corkscrew. it was easy to take apart and put together with the help of this video.
My unit had a washer under the actuator arm bracket. It’s purpose is to align the arm so it doesn’t bind when actuating the white flapper that controls whether ice is crushed. When I reassembled I had the washer on top of the bracket, should have been underneath, and when checked movement of the arm it was binding or catching on the flapper. Put the washer under and it works smoothly.
One more tip: if you slide the jaws and plastic washers off the auger and directly onto a slim screwdriver they will slide right back on in the right order.
I wish I had read this tip. Now I think I am missing one spacer. Is there a part number for the spacer?
Or rubber band them together, everything stays in place, except of course for the locking nut.
Screwdriver was perfect!!
Great tips, glad I read this. I just squeezed them a bit and transferred them from the old one directly to the new one.
Thank you so much. My husband has been an Master Electrician for 35 years and he could never have put this together without you video. You saved the day. Thanks again from his loving wife.
First, I watched your video . Then, I went along with the video to do the repair. Took me 20 minutes. Thank you so much!

Awesome video! Besides (like everyone else) needing to file down the metal bar to match the OEM part, this video walked me through it perfectly.
I just used this video to replace my auger, and was pleased at how great the instructions were- I did it myself! 👌🏼👌🏼
Thank gosh for this video! The auger would have been difficult for me to install without it. Thank you!
Great Video!!! Followed step-by-step. Done in 30 minutes! Perfect! I am now a subscriber.

Worked great! Thanks for the concise step by step video. Ice is flowing now!
Excellent video wow just saved me a service call and about 130 bucks...Each step is clear and easy to follow. Again thanks and i will give this thumbs up.
Thank you. Step by step instructions great. The most valuable part of info is the direction to loosen the bearing is clockwise. Left hand threatening.
Thank you!
Excellent step by step instructions. Greatly appreciated!

Glad you wrote that. I'm about to do the same thing and wanted to verify it wasn't a terrible idea.
Just finished. Your video made everything a snap. One thing I would add is to be VERY aware of how the cogs and washers come off the auger shaft. The washers are not all the same.

Perfect video - started to replace on my own and hit a roadblock. This made it simple and quick.
