Great video! Easy fix in less than an hour. Was getting frustrated with the inoperative ice dispenser on my six year old Frigidaire. Started thinking about getting a new fridge... not anymore! Thanks for helping me save big $$
Great video, thanks for taking the time! What if the problem is that the motor doesn't stop? It only stops when the door is open and the switch turns the auger off.
Today I worked on one just like the one in this video. @6:38 he clamps the vice scrips to the shaft of the motor and breaks the U shaped that turns the auger lose. Well, the one I was working on that U shaped thing was stripped out. I ended up buying a whole new one and all. Looking back I might have been able to get someone to have welded it back together. But I was not sure it would hold. I had went to a used appliance store There are tons of these things some with different electrical plugs and different withs. Ened up finding one that was close. But I had to change out the rack frame with the old one.
Most of the time is not the auger motor gone bad. But if you remove the front panel you may see that the tab for the ice maker solenoid paddle is snapped off very flimsy material. This happened to me and was able to repair the tab by inserting a screw to make contact with the solenoid. Now I have ice and extra motor and to sell.
The solenoid only switches between cubes and crushed. My problem is the auger doesn't turn. I took it out and bench tested it good. 'Still can't figure out the problem. It's making ice but won't dispense cubes or crushed.

Thanks! The cover is rusting and a new one is $90. Now I can remove it to clean and paint.

What is your model number?
Great video! Fixed mine in about 1 hour
Very helpful video. Got it fixed. Works fine. Thank you very much!
Excellent video! Thanks
If i was to hook the motor up to my DVOM what setting and number would I be looking for?
You will set your multimeter to read AC voltage and should have 120 volts to the auger motor.
Thank you!
You're welcome!
Can I just take the whole thing out to make more space for food in my freezer? Will it become a problem for me later?
I wondered the same

Where is the tab located? Picture would help.
@@bobbeltz197 I'm in the same boat. Replaced the motor and there was not change. Did you get an answer?

@@markjacksmarkjacks do you have a picture of the correct place for the solenoid wires?
@@markjacksmarkjacks i have the same issue.
Anybody have a wiring schematic? I can’t tell which wire goes we’re on the crush solenoid?
