I’m 66 yrs old and was able to follow your video to replace my auger! Unlike other videos I watched, yours was slow enough for me to follow and you showed the orientation of the blades and washers so I could put them on properly! Thank you!

Outstanding instructions on changing out the broken auger in GE ice maker. As most other comments, this was by far the best video I have seen with slow and illustrated step-by-step instructions. I just finished my auger installation and also wanted to write and say a special thank you my Friend!

I just finished watching your repair video. My mom and her husband had not had a working ice maker since they moved into this new home in Florida! I found the correct replacement auger online, ordered it and promised the two of them I would take care of it. The part arrived today so I attempted to make the repair myself. With the plastic housing out and all of the screws removed, I couldn't take the auger off of the blades. Thankfully I found your video and was able to complete it! Awesomeness!

I'm not the most handy girl around my house but I was able to follow the instructions and low and behold, SUCCESS! I find it helpful to take pics of the each part before I take them apart to help me put things back together because I don't always remember what I thought I saw. Thanks, that saved me some money!

Thanks Steve me and my daughter just removed a broken piece of the plastic wheel assembly which was jammed solidly in the blade from the metal blade parts of the plastic wheel from the blade. She watched the video and I disassembled the icemaker. It took less than 30 minutes. Saved me about $500 on a service call. Thank you Steve.

Thank you so much for this video. It was a lifesaver. My dad called me, like he usually does when he needs something fixed, and he told me he needed a whole new fridge because the ice maker wasn’t working. I checked it out and saw the auger was broken. He tried to use an ice pick to break up the ice and he broke it. I told him we just needed to replace the auger not the whole fridge. Then he calls me to tell me he has spent forever trying to install it and he needs a new icemaker. I looked online and saw that the trays are over $100 so I thought I would try to fix it myself. After about half an hour of feeling like a monkey trying to shove a square peg into a round hole I decided check RUclips to see if I could just fix it myself. Luckily I came across this video and I successfully installed it myself. I canceled my Amazon order.

This video saved me after I bought the new auger from GE and paid a lot more for it than on Amazon. GE could NOT provide me with any helpful instructions on how to install it. Then I found this video and was able to do the repair. Thank you very much for doing this video.

FYI my replacement auger was a little longer than the broken auger. Ultimately I had to leave a spacer and some washers out but it now works like a charm. Seriously amazing video especially the pace, calming voice and music. Kept me at ease even when I had to take it apart twice on my way to figuring out that I had to leave out the spacer.

I am a pretty mechanically inclined guy. I thought I could do this with no problem. Needless to say, I had a problem.
I turned your video in usage 3 words that totally bailed me out.
    " Left hand thread."
    LOL
So then all my parts came in and I went to put it back together. That's when I discovered all of the crusher teeth were actually in the wrong order when I took it apart. Apparently someone had been into this before and didn't do it right! The order you have a man just makes sense.
It's all back together in its working like a champ. Bank you so much for your help.

You helped me replace my Auger Blade in 2014 but, that GE part only holds up for about 9 months and then brakes. I'll be watching this video again since I ordered a replacement auger blade from a third party parts manufacturer that touts much better durability. I can't believe I did this job back in 2014. I could only do it because of your video.

I too never have left a message but this was above deserved....got the auger thru GE. After I listen to my husband try I asked him to bring it over...I utubed and up you came. Extremely teachable voice, clear instructions. When frustration set in we backed up the video and watched slower. So many small things to do as putting a plastic cover on the right way verses banging it in. Many thanks. You have saved a marriage and a dent to the bank account. I have subscribed....

I can't thank you enough for this very well done video. We disassembled our ice maker to clean it and remove rust, and my reassembly effort was stuck, due to the minimal notes I took during disassembly. Even though this wasn't my ice maker model, your video answered all of my questions and I was able to complete the reassembly. You are providing a wonderful service. Thank you again.

Hi Steve, I wanted to tell you that I appreciate your detailed explanations on all of your videos. With your help, I was able to fix my GE Side-by-side refrigerator (the same exact one as ...on this video) 😁; I changed the heating element and thermostat by myself. I'm really proud of myself as I have RA and was recently diagnosed with Lumbar Spine Stenosis and need to take many breaks, but I did it - all thanks to you and God, of course. Thank you so much for your excellent videos! God bless & have a wonderful day!!! 😊

I did replace my fridge auger assembly a month ago while watching someone's else video. Since then I have been having problems with the ice dispenser. Finally, I found this video that shows a close up shot of the blades numbering. By watching this videos I realized that I had previously mounted the blades out of order and that seemed to being the problem. Thanks a million.

Tip: When you disassemble all the blades from the shaft, slide them all onto a cable tie in proper order. Then later, you can cut the cable tie and slide them all back on without obsessing over the order. At 10:30, make sure the little bracket is BETWEEN the small crimps on the shaft. Replacement augers you might purchase do not have flats on the end shaft ground down far enough towards the plastic. You might have to file off about 1/4" to make the flat go further back.

My bucket assy is slightly different, and I can't get it apart. GE Model PSS26MGPA BB. It has two plastic tabs near the clips that you used the putty knife on. I saw one on-line guide that said you have to break off those plastic tabs before you can remove auger assy. Do you know if that's correct? I'd hate to break it if I don't need to. Also, this is the second time the helix has come disconnected from the auger. I use this dispenser with store bought bags of ice. Is that the reason?
