She got an email saying that she just forgot to mark the video 18+ and that it's alright, they marked it, and there won't be a strike. Hours later her channel was terminated and she never got it back. All RUclips on twitter did was give her bot responses about how they made the right decision. I really hope things go better for Act Man

Anyone with a checkmark that is making RUclips money should have a direct line, a guaranteed way to get a response to a physical person that can either make stuff happen or give them a definitive response on why they can't.

When we advocate for it, we want to say that economic incentive drives innovation. Except as capitalism evolves, we chase our own desire to be comfortable without doing any work. And homo oeconomicus is a myth. Most human beings are irrational morons, most of the time. Put those together, and the longer capitalism evolves, the less useful products become. All of the incentives drive us to find clever ways to sell nothing for as much as possible.

My subscription list has more dead channels than active ones now. Creators that still show their face rarely look happy anymore. I've noticed channels arriving after the 2nd adpocalypse tend to make me think of postmodern art. It exists - and that's about it. I worry that in 5 or 10 years, all of the (few remaining) OGs will be gone and RUclips will look like a virtual Amazon warehouse with bubble wrapped walls.

It’s crazy that RUclips spends their time and resources doing a big, flashy announcement rollout removing the dislike button “for the protection of creators mental health” or whatever (even though creators still have access to all the dislike data on the backend…) while letting creators’ ACTUAL concerns and feedback languish for YEARS at this point. Literally what was the point of Susan meeting with H3 and dozens of other creators over the years? Wasn’t the point of those meetings to gather specific points of feedback that creators have, so they could be addressed? I’ve given RUclips the benefit of the doubt forever now, because it truly does take a ton of time and careful consideration and data analysis to launch sweeping changes that will affect millions upon millions of creators and viewers, but there’s just no reason why, at minimum, they shouldn’t have launched a comprehensive “Creator Service Center” or something at this point, so that creators can easily get in touch with actual people at RUclips to investigate and sort out situations like this. They could open a few call centers and hire a ton of people to be points of contact so that a creator can just pick up the phone and work with them directly. Think of how many new jobs they could create! I guess Google doesn’t have the money for that though.

my fiancé is part of a sonic-based youtube channel. the whole category got nuked recently. no matter how graphic or adult the content, every sonic animation channel has been deemed "for kids": eliminating comments, limiting revenue, and stifling growth. several large channels seemingly overnight were hit all at once. when they grouped up on twitter to fight back like a union, they were met with silence. when you say "no one is safe", youre damn right.
My understanding of a "manual review" isn't that an actual person goes through and watches the video and gives a "yea or nay" -- but instead they just double-check the algorithm didn't come back with any errors when it flagged the video. So in my opinion it is arguably worse. They don't even care enough to *double-check* when they destroy someone's livelihood.
Would make sense. The video was an hour long; it took the manual review process only 30 minutes to come back and say the strike was correct, meaning there's no way that whoever was "reviewing" the video watched the whole damn thing to be sure in the first place.
Slightly different but I've had it so many times where a completely innocent comment I make on Facebook gets a 'manual review' to confirm that it's 'against community standards' within literally 2 minutes of submitting a request. Sometimes wonder whether it's someone who just clicks 'yes' for everything or if it's even a real person at all.

Something not being g mentioned heavily that I heard from a small channel about this is in his dark age video he called out some of the main yt employees by name because they filmed and uploaded the videos talking about the guidelines which he used in his video and I cant remember how it exactly went but it makes sense because YT is being vindictive in this scenario
RUclips responded that the reason his YPP was revoked is due to his satirical tweets about doxxing creators and RUclips employees referencing the fact that he was literally doxxed by Quantum TV and his followers without any repercussions. What an actual fucking joke.

The whole economy of this platform is based upon allowing content creators to freely express themselves and bring content to the platform. I saw all I needed to see for a motive there. Corruption is almost always dismissed as stupidity and ignorance. When in reality they purposefully create the scenario, this is no exception. RUclips purposefully demonetized, age restricted and on top that completely banned The Act Man. The Act Man didn't break guidelines, nor offend his audience or the larger community. No what he did was quite simply address another "creator" for doing the later, and asked why RUclips hadn't taken action against this other "creator". RUclips instead of investigating this other "creator", they responded by demonetizing, age restricting and banned The Act Man. This tells us three things one the "guidelines" mean nothing, two RUclips is incapable of acting on behalf of the community. And third RUclips as we have always known, are in fact more focused upon restricting/ harassing average well meaning content creators. Than they are in dealing with those who undeniably break the "Terms of Service".
Every time I come even slightly close to maybe even considering taking up video creation in any capacity, something like this happens and it immediately reminds me why my talents are better put elsewhere.

It's absolutely insane, and especially considering the person RUclips is inadvertently defending in this situation is a person who has abused their copyright system, doxed individuals involved and has REPEATEDLY made racist and homophobic statements. This is a man who wished a person defending Ellie's kiss scene in TLoU2 had been killed in the Pulse nightclub shooting, and who is now claiming the people criticizing him are "hetero-phobic", all this during *Pride month* where no more than a week ago RUclips put out a tweet claiming they support their LGBTQ+ creators. Hopefully this story keeps gaining traction, RUclips reverses their decision and this serial copyright abuser gets the ban he so rightfully deserves. This guy sucks.
At this point, people might get desperate enough to go after sponsors, since a lot of the worst stuff looks bad on them with QTV being still monetized fully.

After digging a bit myself while being educated on the matter by videos like this one, I'm glad that RUclips is finally ousted for their sh!tty behaviors, corruption, hypocrisy, and cherry picking. The only thing that surprises me in this whole mess is that they're doing that to a big channel. They've been doing that to lots of nobody's like myself, closing the door to the possibility to ever be monetized by killing videos from the moment they're uploaded, and not notifying subscribers when the videos are out. RUclips (as well as Twitch) have always been hypocritical when it comes to their policies and guidelines. They don't soo much treat their rules and guidelines as... well "rules" but have them be affected by personal bias and judgement. If a company cannot even properly adhere to their own rules and guidelines, and can shift/alter how a rule is regulated, it's quite scary honestly.

Can't imagine or think of a single example where rules or protections on a platform were ever rolled back after being made. RUclips either collapses and reforms, essentially resetting the rules, or is overtaken by less.. lethargic competition eventually.

It’s crazy that RUclips spends their time and resources doing a big, flashy announcement rollout removing the dislike button “for the protection of creators mental health” or whatever (even though creators still have access to all the dislike data on the backend…) while letting creators’ ACTUAL concerns and feedback languish for YEARS at this point. Literally what was the point of Susan meeting with H3 and dozens of other creators over the years? Wasn’t the point of those meetings to gather specific points of feedback that creators have, so they could be addressed?
I’ve given RUclips the benefit of the doubt forever now, because it truly does take a ton of time and careful consideration and data analysis to launch sweeping changes that will affect millions upon millions of creators and viewers, but there’s just no reason why, at minimum, they shouldn’t have launched a comprehensive “Creator Service Center” or something at this point, so that creators can easily get in touch with actual people at RUclips to investigate and sort out situations like this. They could open a few call centers and hire a ton of people to be points of contact so that a creator can just pick up the phone and work with them directly. Think of how many new jobs they could create! I guess Google doesn’t have the money for that though.

My understanding of a "manual review" isn't that an actual person goes through and watches the video and gives a "yea or nay" -- but instead they just double-check the algorithm didn't come back with any errors when it flagged the video.
So in my opinion it is arguably worse. They don't even care enough to *double-check* when they destroy someone's livelihood.
That sounds just stupid enough to be true.
Would make sense. The video was an hour long; it took the manual review process only 30 minutes to come back and say the strike was correct, meaning there's no way that whoever was "reviewing" the video watched the whole damn thing to be sure in the first place.

The whole economy of this platform is based upon allowing content creators to freely express themselves and bring content to the platform. RUclips pulling this stunt not only shows future content creators that their future as a creator is not safe here, but also shows future investors that this is a failing platform. And while RUclips is actively trying to sink their own ship, competitors are getting more and more attractive. In the end, if RUclips doesn't change, this platform will fail and companies will find ad space somewhere else.

Happy you're talking about this. I don't really follow any of the channels involved but I heard about RUclips's actions regarding it earlier today. It's absolutely insane, and especially considering the person RUclips is inadvertently defending in this situation is a person who has abused their copyright system, doxed individuals involved and has REPEATEDLY made racist and homophobic statements. This is a man who wished a person defending Ellie's kiss scene in TLoU2 had been killed in the Pulse nightclub shooting, and who is now claiming the people criticizing him are "hetero-phobic", all this during *Pride month* where no more than a week ago RUclips put out a tweet claiming they support their LGBTQ+ creators.
Hopefully this story keeps gaining traction, RUclips reverses their decision and this serial copyright abuser gets the ban he so rightfully deserves.

Nice to meet you Chris! I didn't know either party discussed in the video until i saw bunch of videos popping about them and RUclips's shenanigans. After digging a bit myself while being educated on the matter by videos like this one, I'm glad that RUclips is finally ousted for their sh!tty behaviors, corruption, hypocrisy, and cherry picking. The only thing that surprises me in this whole mess is that they're doing that to a big channel. They've been doing that to lots of nobody's like myself, closing the door to the possibility to ever be monetized by killing videos from the moment they're uploaded, and not notifying subscribers when the videos are out. I'm glad a bigger channel is saying it's all happening. Because I've been told "just make good content and your videos will be shown to more people". Yeah, right. Can't imagine or think of a single example where rules or protections on a platform were ever rolled back after being made. RUclips either collapses and reforms, essentially resetting the rules, or is overtaken by less.. lethargic competition eventually.
