My favorite amp of all time....i have them all. This one narrowly beats out my Marshall JVMJS 410 i had which was so versatile it was ridiculous. I had this exact amp and when you plug in a strat you just can’t get a better sound than that to my ear. Just wonderful blooming sounds come out of this amp...i literally could not make it sound bad.
Squier classic vibes are the bomb!! I have the same guitar with American vintage pickups and Wilkinson brass saddles I run mine through a Mesa 5 50 though Really a great guitar, and an amazing amp
Thanks! I'm glad you like the tone. The guitar is a very nice Classic Vibe 50's Tele with a Seymour Duncan Custom Shop '53 Tapped Tele bridge pickup (using the hotter tap) and a Duncan STR-1 neck pickup, strung with Ernie Ball .009 - .042's.
@@StefanFreyrBaldursson You're welcome man! Came across your Bogner demo today after rewatching the Lonestar demo for like the fourth time and it's amazing as well. The pickups and wiring in that Tele sound amazing and like they always say, tone is really in the fingertips. Well done, new subscriber here.
That amp sounds fantastic. I have an Express +550 112. The express just doesn’t break up on the clean channel the way you had the LS doing it. Hope to upgrade to a LS soon. Do you think the 112 LSC would sound as good as the 212?
I sold this amp some time ago because I needed money to buy a guitar. I missed it immediately so I later bought a 1x12 LSC. I think it sounds just as good. You can see Andy Timmons and Dominic Miller (Sting) who are both longtime LSC players using 1x12 combos on top of 2x12 rectifier cabs. Note that new 1x12 LSC's have a smaller cabinet than the old ones. Mine has the same dimensions as the 2x12 combos. You can hear me playing the amp in these two videos. Just the lonestar: ruclips.net/video/R_rbBPVFlTw/видео.html and Lonestar with a tube preamp/pedal: ruclips.net/video/5txQf_I9WLk/видео.html
If you are after the classic Twin Reverb tone then I think you should go for the '65 TRRI but If you want a lot more tonal flexibility, a very nice master volume, two channels and a very pedal friendly amp then the Lonestar is the way to go.
Stefán Freyr Baldursson thanks for the reply. Every demo I’ve heard of this amp, I swear I can hear that blackface tone just a little “fuller” sound. I love the fact that it has an effects loop, wattage control, and a drive channel. Those 3 options are what’s swaying me to the boogie. How heavy does the drive channel get?
@@bradharris1110 It gets about as heavy as you can hear at 3:36 ... using single coils. For heavier tones I used Bogner Ecstasy Blue and Red pedals. They sound really good through the clean channel.
love the lonestar, i now have a mesa king snake combo, this is the sound for me, but they are both awesome amps. Have owned both the special and this lonestar classic, but for me, once i played the king snake i was done. Tone is subjective, as is the feel etc , just buy what you feel is right for you. Dont buy a mesa to hoping to sound like a fender amp, that dont work as they are different, mesa is in the ball park as many amps are but more importantly mesa has aits own vibe going on. likewise you wont get the fender to sound like the mesa. if its fender you have your heart on buy that or you will not be happy. There is no bad or good only what we like, and thats most important above all for musical satisfaction.
Great playing and great sounds!!! Love the Lonestar. But as kids, we always kept the Matchbox tracks put up, because mom would usually grab the first thing in sight to wear our asses out and .... LOL. Seriously..... fantastic sound. Are you just recording with a camera mic from across the room? It sounds better than most mic set-ups I've heard.
Great sound, really love the sound of those pickups, i'm just in the process of buy a lone star :) i also have a telecaster, but now may have to splash out on some new pickups, great, thanks for that. :) :) nice playing.
Thanks! The amp has 6L6 power tubes. The 100W 6L6 Lonestar is often referred to as the Lonestar Classic as opposed to the 30W Lonestar Special which has EL84 power tubes.
Both Shiva and the Lonestar have really good cleans but slightly different. Shiva has more hi-fi crystal clear cleans and Lonestar has a fatter and warmer clean tone. I believe that the speakers play a big part in the different tones. The Mesa C90 speakers (Celestion G12-80) are much warmer and fatter than the Vintage 30's. Not better though, just different. I prefer the Lonestar cleans but I am sure many would prefer the clean tone of Shiva.

The settings are just tuned by ear but it is good to keep in mind that the bass knob needs to be set pretty low on ch. 2 at higher gain settings to aviod muddiness.
It's hard to tell over YT video, but how is the volume level with this amp in your living room? I am thinking about getting it but I'm concerned it might get too loud for home use. My fender bassman takes my head off at 2.

You've successfully demonstrated why the LS continues to be such a popular amp !
Thanks. It is indeed a very good amp.
Now that's pure talent..
All you would need. Great Spanky Tones like the California Tweed then some. Variety of Drive tones.

Thanks :)
Nice playing sounds great, I know this thing is Heavy but can you get a good tone at moderate volumes?
Yes, absolutely. The Lonestar sounds great at any volume.

IT really does! Great gain, output and master volume control
Where do you get the casters for that amp?
