This is fucking awesome. My first guitar was a Gretsch electromatic. John playing a Gretsch on "Purple Red Yellow & Blue" album is what motivated to self learn on RUclips and get a Gretsch.

Very cool-he seems like a real guy who’s simply excited to have his own signature axe. If you don’t like it, don’t buy one.

HI, I wanted to know if the pickups on this guitar, the "Full'trons" are constructed like the original "Filter'trons". Or if they are constructed like the more PAF style Broad'Trrons. My 2nd question is that are these pickups wax potted. P.s, I love the paint job of this guitar

BEWARE - Full-Tron pups are standard humbuckers so this guitar will not sound like a Gretsch - you need either Filtertrons or Dynasonics for that. It probably still sounds good.... just not like a Gretsch

But the White Falcon was a hugely popular guitar and they had Filtron pickups, yeah? And it still puts out very full-bodied, rich tone. Is that not a hallmark of the Gretsch hollow body line?

Gretsch has been making guitars with humbucking filtertron pickups since before either one of us were born goofball.

Why did he say "Jesus the Mary Chain?" Ick. I know it was just a flub. But still caught me.

I bought this guitar BECAUSE OF The Mary Chain.
So I understand the sentiment perfectly.

No, he actually pronounces their name correctly. Unlike some fanzine writer from around 1984-85 who kept calling them "Jesus and the Mary Chain."

Another really crap promo video from Gretsch. Who is John Gourly? Doing a google search I find he plays in an obscure band from Alaska. Exactly what are Broadcaster pups - Humbuckers, Filtertrons, Dynasonics. Gretsch doesn't say. Then John tells us almost nothing about this guitar. And Aretha Franklyn didn't play guitar either

The band is based in Portland, Ore. The pickups are USA Full'Tron™ humbucking pickups. He knows Aretha didn't play guitar. He was talking about tone.
