I too have a sit in kayak. I like very much what you did with yours and its pretty much what I want to do with mine. I will save this great, informative video for reference purposes when it comes time for me to add stuff on. My fishing bro has a sit on top and the next time we go out, I will ask him to let me try his to see whats so great about being on top. Well with mine I can actually stand up in it, slightly wobbly lol, but I guess with in time, my inner ear will make adjustments for better balance lol. Thanks for sharing.
Nice set up. I fish out of a sit in also. I don't personally like flush mount rod holders because the rods can get caught up in low hanging brush and trees where I fish. Instead I used the quick draw type. so I could have the rods laying level with the boat or adjust to troll. Nice console! Couldnt find one for my Loon 138 so I made a console with luan wood screwed to the rim of the cockpit. Mounted a fish finder and set a shallow tupperware like container with a lid for a little dry storage catch all.
Good job on the yak and the vid. One of the better rigging of a sit-in I've seen. Love my old town predator sot but still have a soft spot for my old pungo 120 with the console. Enjoyed the vid and hope you have many hours of enjoyment from your rig!
I really like your set up and have incorporated some of your ideas in my Old Town Trip 10 Angler sit in kayak. Hoping to have a video of my boat on in the near future. Good job !
Really nice setup. I have also tricked my kayak out for fishing. One thing I have found is black surfaces, such as the traction pads, and even the black rod holders, can get very hot on a hot and sunny day. I used white PVC rings to connect the rod holder tubing into the kayak for that reason. While not as attractive as what was used in this video, they do not get hot. There are also different color traction pads available that would absorb less heat. Another great add-on is cut swim noodles. You can cut them and fit them over the rails on the kayak to use them as arm pads. They work great to put your elbows on when fishing or just to rest your arms.
Nice set up. I can tell you have put a lot of time and thought into it. I just bought a kayak about a month ago, I've only been able to get 3 times for couple hrs each time but hoping for more. Good luck fishing!!!
At last a kindred spirit! I also have a sit in kayak and use it primarily for fishing. I just got it last year and now I'm ready to fix it up. You gave me some terrific ideas. Thanks...also, I love the Ugly Stick Light rods...best value on the market. Tight lines.
Thanks for the great ideas. I have a 16ft Pamlico Wilderness that I have used in Mobile Bay, San Francisco Bay, and many lakes and streams here in TN. Love to catch fish out of it and more so after building a trailer to pull it around. Like the console and silent traction ideas. Thanks
Im actually based in Virginia and do alot of fishing up north in the PA/NJ area. Ive never been down south with it but ive seen others on youtube do it and looks sweet
Wow, Brian hahaha I was looking at kayak diving videos and I came across your video, AWESOME!! Your sun dance sure looks better then the day you bought it, can`t say the same for mine but, haha.. I have my sun dance down here in Miami, but with all this tropical water full of fish and lobster. I had to put aside the old red sun dance and move on to a SOT Perception Caster 12.5. build for fishing, but more importantly its suitable for diving!
i have a wilderness pungo 120 that i have fitted with two scotty rod holders on the dash like this one but i have the extentions for both of them so they are out of the way when not in use or paddling, removable anchor trolly, wheels that fit into the watertight hach, and a rear removable flag. my net fits perfetly in the bands behind the seat and i put my tacklebox up near my feet. infront of the seat there is a masive usless cup holder so i have a kettelbell has an anchor and it fits perfectly. i dont have flush mounted rod holders but im looking in putting in two of them
Nice set up you have there and thanks for posting a Sit-in rig. I fish from my Walden Scout. I wish I knew about that consoul before I made mine. I like that one much better
Thanks! i was at a kayak outfitter getting ready to get shuttled out for a run and noticed that console in their shop. my mind immediately went to fishing so i grabbed it. back then it was like 65 bucks. not sure if its come down any in price.
Sik boat (get it?).. I wish I wasn't so paranoid about capsizing a sit in... I.other than filling with water in an accident they make a lot of sense. Seriously well done, clean boat.
Gregory West Hey gregory.. right now i just have it clipped on with the bungee going around my cockpit like it comes stock. since i have wires running into it and whatnot im actually looking into running a couple bolts through it so its a little more permanently attached. when i load it on my car my tie down straps cross right over it so it holds it on when traveling.
Awesome video. I just received an Emotion Glide sit-in kayak. If you're not familiar with it it's a 9' 7" kayak with 2 flush mount rod holders and nothing else. No additional storage except for behind the seat and toward the front of the boat. You have quite a few things there that I'd like to have with me but I just don't have the room. Are there any external options that would work well for me on the Emotion that you could think of?
Hey @Catherine Sherbs! I think its called the "kayak konsole" by Wilderness Systems. I bought it like 6 or 7 years ago so im not sure if they are still out there or not.
+BMJ Fishing I found it on amazon in case some is looking where to find it. www.amazon.com/Harmony-Kayak-Konsole-Dry-Hatch/dp/B003N8CJDC/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top?ie=UTF8
B, I appreciate your videos! I am just wondering why you did not place your battery in the dry well on your console rather than putting it behind the seat? I have a similar set up and a 12v fits nicely in the front dry well, Seems like less wire would be needed. Did you opt for a larger battery? Thanks.
Louis Plevell Thanks man! I thought about putting my battery in there but my battery was a bit too fat to fit in there. Plus i liked the idea of having a battery box because i could move it to other boats pretty easily. I just put my binoculars, keys and phone in that little dry storage in my console now.
How much do you think you have spend on this setup? I am looking into getting a yak for fishing down here in florida. Been fishin all my life up in Minnesota, ha, I'v got the itch to fish... xD
YIKEs,not t a fan of any sitin kayak. Love my 120 pdl open deck. It's like setting up your own one man boat. But it's my 1st kayak, and with all invested and now the Bixpy j2 rudder attached motor. One day i will add my Oldtown Sportsman 106, with the Minnkota trolling motor. But I won't part with my 1st kayak. Not after waiting through covid, and saving for almost a year to purchase her. And now she's sentimental to me. So I understand, you keeping the sit-in yak. But you would love that 12ft pdl, open deck, storage, rudder, seat, and a ton of accessories. Be safe bro..prayers 🙏 🎣
can too much stuff on it effect it being to heavy to be in the water? and the dry storage spot can it be used to keep water and live bait ? sick kayak by the way!
Im sure if you started getting close to the max rated weight for the kayak it could be a problem but so far i havent had any issues. i have a spackle bucket that fits in my dry storage that i sometimes use for water/live bait/live well for trout haha. it works but you'll definitely be adding a lot of weight.
How universal do you think the console is? Would it fit most kayaks or do they make specifically for each kayak? Thanks, awesome looking yak by the way!
Hey Christian, I believe it will work on most open-cockpit kayaks. This particular console is a Wilderness Systems and i put it on my Perception without any problems. Heres a good place to check it out: kayakfishinggear.com/303aerospaceprotectant-1-1-1-1-1-3.aspx
Hey thanks man! I actually put it under my seat. Check out my Fish Finder video to get a closer look at how i have it setup. Fish Finder Install For Sit-In Kayak
Can someone explain what the advantage of a kayak over a canoe is other than being more compact for storage and transport? It seems like they cost about the same, and canoes have a lot more room while in use.
They on occasion can be a little easier to work by yourself, and they move quicker to cover more ground, but other than that it is all personal preference.
i personally like kayaks.. they sit in the water instead of on top of it. much more stable and fast. less cargo space on some models. I have a big cockpit and big dry storage area that i can load up if necessary on my boat.
I think they are more stable, and easier to maneuver both in and out of water especially if your alone. I would say the only advantages a canoe has is ability to hold more gear and if you want to go with other people in the same boat. Haven't seen too many double seat kayaks set up for fishing.
+Jared Lacey I've seen relatives of mine stand in boats similar to mine but everytime I've tried it didn't go too well haha. I think if you had good balance you could do it.
I got this from a local kayak shop years ago.. I think they have since been discontinued. A very similar boat that's still in production would be the Wilderness Systems Pungo 120. Hope that helps!
This is a nice and clean set up. I've tried to google the camo color, but all the results are orange/yellow. Did you paint it yourself, or pay someone?
mironccr345 Thanks! I actually bought this yak back in 2003/04ish and at the time they sold with the camo color option. I think Wilderness Systems bought out Perception since i bought mine because Perception's quality seems to have gone down over the years. The Wilderness Systems Pungo 120 is essentially the same boat if you want to check those out too.
senpai kush Im not sure how much all of this cost. I bought the boat new for around $600 back in high school and have added approx. $600 in accessories onto it. Really nice fishing kayaks these days run $1200-$3500 so i guess i made out ok haha.
That's a sick setup! I've been bank fishing for almost a year and wish I had a boat... But this setup seems much more practical and cost effective. How much did your setup cost overall? Just kind of curious.
Tim Ivers I picked it up at Hook1.. Most of the major kayak fishing supply websites like Hook1 and Austin Kayak have it. The particular brand i used was "Conseal" but i believe harmony makes an identical version as well. hope that helps!
Connor Schork It's not about saving money, it's about do u have money to spend or if ur a broke fool who willing to risk your life on a cheap kayak from Walmart ...
+Eric Davila Hey Eric! Ive been out in the ocean with this but I've only been out maybe 200/300 yards off shore. I don't know if id go really far out with this since it doesn't self-bail like a sit on top kayak would.

I wanted a sit in before I watched this. Now I REALLY want one. Thanks for sharing!
Great walk through! I fish in a sit inside too. Subbed!
Its a perfect kayak

i have a viking sit on top kayak, but man, i have to say that is one sweet ride you got there, its so well organized, im jealous !
Thanks! tight lines!
this is a great video, i am currently helping my brother in law set his sit in yak up and this is gonna help out a ton! good job here bud
got my first kayak for Christmas🙌🙌 can't wait to start
Sweet grats after taxes I'm buying one for a 🎁 to me
Me too, my mom didn't know anything about kayaks so she got a sit in. Oh well it will have to do, I'm broke lol
Good job on the yak and the vid. One of the better rigging of a sit-in I've seen. Love my old town predator sot but still have a soft spot for my old pungo 120 with the console. Enjoyed the vid and hope you have many hours of enjoyment from your rig!

Nice, I use a Perception Carolina 12 sit in for my fishing vessel, love the speed comfort as well as decent storage.
Had so much fun on it my first time out, lots of room to modify it as you want.
Nice set up. I can tell you have put a lot of time and thought into it. I just bought a kayak about a month ago, I've only been able to get 3 times for couple hrs each time but hoping for more. Good luck fishing!!!
David F. Thanks! Good luck to you as well!
Great ideas and good job! Way to take the frugal route.
At last a kindred spirit! I also have a sit in kayak and use it primarily for fishing. I just got it last year and now I'm ready to fix it up. You gave me some terrific ideas. Thanks...also, I love the Ugly Stick Light rods...best value on the market. Tight lines.
Thanks man!
Good content, you got me when you pulled out the sponge ! I need me one. I own sit in and sit on yaks. Great tips for both!
Thanks
Thanks for checking out the vid!
Where have you fished in mobile bay I was thinking of getting one and taking it down to dauphin island to fish for specks and reds
Im actually based in Virginia and do alot of fishing up north in the PA/NJ area. Ive never been down south with it but ive seen others on youtube do it and looks sweet
Thanx for sharing. I was looking to do something like what you did with the Silent Traction. Didn't know what it was called...thanx
Great video on your sit in kayak! Looks awesome!

Pretty spiffy! Some really good ideas.
nice kayak, we have the same taste in rods/reels mine are all ugly stik/shimano reel combos too

Nice video. I just picked up a WS pungo120 to set up for fishing. Gonna order anchor trolley parts this weekend as well as flush mount rod holders.
Thanks! i got most of my parts from www.kayakfishinggear.com and austin kayak
I will check it out.
Nice set up you have there and thanks for posting a Sit-in rig. I fish from my Walden Scout. I wish I knew about that consoul before I made mine. I like that one much better

Thanks!! Ive had this boat since like 8th grade and only flipped once and it was my fault haha. Takes alot to flip it.
Great setup! I was just curious how much the fish finder was I'm looking for one but don't want to pay a lot
Impressive setup!

Like the set n great ideals .For mind I need lights for the bay fishing.

Where and how did you install your transducer?
Great video thanks for sharing.
Great set up ....well done
Very nice rig I just finished laying out my Jackson Kilroy
Thanks! Good Luck to ya!
what kind of kyak is this? and what length do you recommend for rivers and lakes.
I personally would keep some TP in the dry storage when nature calls
+your boi Carl Good Idea!

Great vid thanks for sharing - just got my first kayak and doing lots of 'setup' research ;) Top man, thanks ;)
Sweet! Thanks man.. send me a pic of your setup when you are done!
Would you recommend having a spray skirt of fishing in the beach lines
of North Carolina?
thanks this helped a ton i am new to kayak fishing and have a set in need help to make it for fishing
TheFloridaAirsoftGroup Thanks for checking out my vid!

How much do you think you have spend on this setup? I am looking into getting a yak for fishing down here in florida. Been fishin all my life up in Minnesota, ha, I'v got the itch to fish... xD
Simply awesome. Nice review and information. Tight lines brother and be safe.
thanks man!
No problem at all.
Thanks for sharing and cool video buddy.
and one last question do you prefer kayak fishing or a regular boat fishing
YIKEs,not t a fan of any sitin kayak. Love my 120 pdl open deck. It's like setting up your own one man boat. But it's my 1st kayak, and with all invested and now the Bixpy j2 rudder attached motor. is a sit in kayak OK where water can get 70cm or 2 feet of wave?
Does that kayak console fits on a perception odyssey 11.5 kayak
Have you tried the kayak on water with waves?
Thank you. Very well done Lots of great ideas
+Ernie Shimp Thanks Ernie!
Nice vid keep up the good work
Hey what's your guys tips on kayaks like which one should I get

Just got my sit in. will probably get a bigger one next year at tax time
I was wondering where you got the sticky padding on your rails and bottom of kayak.
Michael Tramonti I picked it up at Hook1, but ive seen it on other sites too like Austin Kayak. Ive seen Conseal and Harmony both make versions of it.
hey great video... i was just wondering where u put your transducer??
Hey thanks man! I actually put it under my seat. Check out my Fish Finder video to get a closer look at how i have it setup.

Wow alot of hit on this video ..Well done ..good video
What a great set up
carbell88 Thanks!
Freakin' awesome dude, great video!
thanks man!
where did you buy the sound attraction from?
Where do you get that padding for your rails? Your kayak is looking pretty sweet!
Thanks! I got the padding from www.kayakfishinggear.com
i think its called Konsole Silent Traction or something like that.
Awesome video!!

nice set up mate
kayak show Thanks!
what kind of sticker was the oakley one? I want to put some on mine
ive had that for a long time, its a vinyl sticker. i honestly dont remember if i made it myself or not (i have a vinyl plotter lol)
do you ever stand in this boat or do you think it's possible?
+Jared Lacey I've seen relatives of mine stand in boats similar to mine but everytime I've tried it didn't go too well haha. I think if you had good balance you could do it.
Does that console only fit that kayak or does it fit all kayaks
the console fits multiple kayaks. i bought it a long time ago, so i don't know what the newest ones are like.
got a link for the remote mount?
where did you get the silent traction from?
I wish I had done more research before buying a sit in kayak. I’d like to stand while fishing. if I stand up in mine I’m going swimming.
How much does this setup cost minus the kayak, gopro, and fishing gear?
What els is there?
Roman sandbank I think he meant all the mods he did to it, how much those cost.
Where did you buy it from? I just cant find it.
Plz I love this kayak.
I got this from a local kayak shop years ago.. I think they have since been discontinued. A very similar boat that's still in production would be the Wilderness Systems Pungo 120. Hope that helps!
Tnx for the help and I hope you continue doing videos like these and also keep fishing!!!
EmiL Tran older comment, but if your still looking at them, dicks sells the future beach kayaks
Dude that is a nice setup!!! What kind of kayak??
Thanks! Its a Perception Sundance 12.0.. they dont make them anymore but its pretty much exactly like a Wilderness Systems Pungo 120.
I kinda am wanting to find room for a cooler on mine in case I catch fish that I can keep
Nice setup
Man I am really jealous of this rig. How much did all this cost roughly? Really really would like to have my kayak look like this someday maybe.
senpai kush Im not sure how much all of this cost.
Yancy Smith Ball park price for this is in the $1200 range. The boat i got in high school new for $600 and ive added around $600 more in gear. Thanks!
the Sponge is an amzing Idea. super simple.
Where do you fish at. I'm just getting back into kayak fishing. if your near Pennsylvania. I kno where the muskies and pike hangout
Hey Joseph, i do most of my fishing down in Virginia where i live. I go up to PA once and awhile to visit family and fish as well
Nice lookin set up
+david hayman. Thanks David!
Do you know where can i get that sound traction?
i got it at kayakfishinggear.com
Where did you get the adhesive no slip covering
Tim Ivers I picked it up at Hook1.. Most of the major kayak fishing supply websites like Hook1 and Austin Kayak have it. The particular brand i used was "Conseal" but i believe harmony makes an identical version as well. hope that helps!
bmjfishing thanks! Just got my yak yesterday and saw your setup. Very nice! I'm doing the same!
man anyone who fishes from a sit in like us know how to save money!
Connor Schork I love my sit in a lot more compared to my sit on.
Connor Schork
It's not about saving money, it's about do u have money to spend or if ur a broke fool who willing to risk your life on a cheap kayak from Walmart ...
Spent £30 on my kayak and I haven't died yet.
@@hgghggggjhgg8330 it's more about using the money you're saving for better fishing gear. 😀
Hgghgg Ggjhgg
Sun dolphins are death traps, its about using what money you have in the best possible way.
Awesome setup
Thanks Champ!
+BMJ Fishing I luv it to
What kind of kayak Is this
Would you go sea fishing with that setup?
+Eric Davila Hey Eric! Ive been out in the ocean with this but I've only been out maybe 200/300 yards off shore. I don't know if id go really far out with this since it doesn't self-bail like a sit on top kayak would.
Awesome video
Lou DeMartino Thanks!
what kayak do you have?
would you sell this kayak and how much
Great video!
Thanks!
Where'd you get the silent traction?
I got it from www.kayakfishinggear.com. I got two big pads for like 10 bucks. I recently redid the traction around the rim of the cockpit where it actually wraps around the top so its less likely to rip off from my tie down straps.
That a good set up
Thanks!
were did you get the silent pad at
+Daniel Harkins Hey Daniel! I got the silent traction stuff from Austin Kayak (ACK.com) but you can find it in a lot of places. Hook1 sells it as well. The two brands I've seen are Harmony and Conseal.
Ok thx
