It took him 5 years to talk his brother and sister and their spouses to move to Texas. At first, they hated it (You have to have a car just to get food down here!). One of the spouses saw that I had only one latch on my apartment door. "You guys only have one lock? You don't even have a chain! What if somebody breaks in? I replied, "Oh, we shoot people for that." They've been here for years now and you couldn't pry them out of Texas with a crowbar. And they began encouraging extended family to come to my beloved Lonestar State.

I’m going to be honest, if you asked me 5 years ago which city is going to be the next Detroit (believing it was to big to fail), New York City, the big apple itself, wouldn’t of been in my top 25…
So back in the 1800s, shopkeepers had a counter that they stood behind. If a customer was looking for something, they'd ask the clerk who would go get it from the stockroom. Clerk rang the customer up, they'd pay, and that was all. In the 20th century, grocers looked to increase their revenues. So the many aisles and shopping carts became the norm. I think it's time to go back to the "clerk at the counter" model. No more customer-facing product shelves.
In Detroit crime in the city was so bad (this was back in the 1990's) the grocery stores had bullet-proof plexi-glass floor to ceiling with a rotating plexiglass cube at the cash register. You would tell the clerk what you wanted and he would select it for you from behind the plex-glass. You would put your payment into the cube and it would be rotated around to the clerk. The clerk would then put your change and whatever you had purchased into the cube and rotate it back to you. It's a very expensive way to do business and so prices were very high, but then they had no competition either. It looks like the powers-that-be want this to be the model for America.
Right, and then there would be a line of people outside the door and around the corner. I am sorry but you must not have listen to all that was said in the video, you embarrassed yourself with your comment.
@@markthomas207 you're right. If the option for a business is to close or change format, I'd think the residents who depend on that store would rather suffer a line than an empty storefront.
This has been going on all over the country. Some of these people get out of brand new cars. Seriously. Some grab fist fulls of food and whatever gets scanned gets scanned. They don't care. Probably paying with food assistance cards anyway. We pay either way.
What about the radical solution of stop voting for Democrats who make these laws that don’t hold criminals accountable? Why are you so committed to this corrupt party?
I heard that the NY State legislature was trying to pass a bill that would allow "community activists" to sue grocery stores in their area that close down because of shoplifting.

I hope the Mayor of NYC is watching your videos. You spell it all out and make it sound like the problem could be fixed. Thanks Cash fir all you are doing.
The best option for these retailers is to have customers shop online and the staff pick their groceries for curbside pickup. That's their only choice if they don't want to close.
@@willythemailboy2 I think many stores have been planning to do that, but they don't want to make a sudden change. They are testing to see how well it works and what they can do to improve it, so they are still allowing in-store shopping during that time.
This is like having a water main leaking into your basement and the city says “no worries, we’ll help cover your deductible for the water damage and even send a contractor to help” but when you ask them to turn off the water and fix the leak they say “but that’s not the problem, the problem is the damage” then also telling you that “if you attempt to turn off the water, you’ll be charged because your not authorized to touch it”
I worked as a manager in a grocery store in Albuquerque New Mexico since the early 2000's. Once the pandemic happen the stress of being a manager got to be too much and the company started to cut back on security and lost prevention. Then the law changed so the minimum amount a shoplifter steals before then get arrested was INCREASED! So now the police dont even want to get involved since the amount they steal is under the limit. I stepped down as a manager and became a cashier. I have to turn a blind-eye when i see shoplifters, and i hate it. 1, no security or lost prevention in the store. 2, police wont show up for shoplifting calls. 3, now the company will fire you if you get involved with stopping a shoplifter unless you're upper management or assisting lost prevention/security. Its a total no win situation. Now im forced to be in a lower paying job, less hours, and everything is skyrocketing in price! If i had the resources to do it, i would move out to the country and just live off the land. But that's becoming more difficult as well.
