WOW THESE TURNED OUT BEAUTIFULLY. video idea: maybe do one about knowing how to shoot “manually”? Meaning like figuring out shutter speed, ISO, aperture, etc. I feel like a lot of beginner photographers like myself have deep rooted insecurities in the fact that we can’t assess our surroundings for the best possible settings (in the moment and also in post editing)
Hey Jessica!! ...nobody teaches this and it's soooo frustrating to me. I know my way around a camera pretty well, but some of these more technical types of tricks and effects are things I still have yet to conquer and really figure out. THANK YOU soooo much for doing this for us!! I would sure give the world for you to also do a couple of videos teaching us how to photograph sparkler exits, light trails with wedding reception dance photos, how to photograph those cigar smoke photos of the guys on wedding day, and how to get that hair spray shot when the bride is getting ready. I'd also love to learn how to do some of those trick photos that so many of you do on wedding days - the reflection, shooting through things, bokeh lights, ring shots with an extra fun flair, etc. A super fun photographer that does a lot of this stuff is Jason Martin with Concept Photography. This guy has some super cool photography tricks and effects and I still have yet to figure out how he does a lot of them.
if you watched you will hear that it is clearly a collaboration for educational purposes on posing. i work with natural light, so of course the light is going to shift. however, i personally think using flashes and soft boxes outside looks dated, artificial, and strange.
This maybe 2 years late. but anyway: I like the output, but I wouldn't say that using flash and other artificial light looks dated. Artificial light is used to mimic what your eyes see that your camera can't. Even if your camera has great dynamic range and you have good editing skills, using artificial light is still the way to go on certain lighting conditions.
Not necessarily, with all due respect photo shoots go with the vibe of the person. This is a rustic feel. You can make any "ugly" location into something beautiful. Real photographers know that.
Amy Sam yes you can make rustic place nice for photo shoot (preferably not for a wedding) , plus the photos had a terrible yellowish filter , bad posing and no bokeh , we don’t have to be super nice and keep saying it’s very nice for everything, tell them the truth so they can tell where is the problem and to improve them selves
The truth is that it's art. It's subjective. Photographers shoot the style they like. Clients shop and pick the artist that looks like what they want. If we all try to do the same thing and follow the same rules what is artistic? And bokeh is extremely EXTREMELY overrated. But what you like is up to you. Don't tell others what they should do. Especially if they don't ask.
The Video shows less than you would expect from the title. I miss the posing that you promised. It´s just a behind the scenes of a normal model shoot in a wedding dress..
That's a matter of opinion. Some artists like flat. Some clients like flat images. In my opinion strode photos are tacky and overdone. But it's all up to personal preference. Also on a wedding day lugging strobes around isn't practical for alot of us.
I would never ever EVER shoot a bride against a plain white wall. That's just dull. Where's the contrast? I don't like it at all. The poses were ok though.
The way you work with the bride is amazing. However, if I could offer some advice, never EVER shoot against a white background. White on white is a basic rule and a big no no. If you would have shot against the green of the trees I think your photos would have turned out a lot better!

So true - variation of poses is key! Plus its a super easy way to get FAST images with a limited timeline!

when jessica films videos during a shoot do the clients get a reduced price ?
i don't film client shoots! these are all specifically for videos or trade for print
You do use a lot of bouquets in your video's haha! I thought it was for a florist or something like that :)
The model kinda looks like a younger Monica from Shameless. 🤔
What lens are you using?
sigma 35mm art!
for some reason my camera won't let me take pictures in live mode. does anyone know why that is? I have a Canon 5D Mark IV.
I can go into live mode it just won't let me capture the picture for some reason.
xokferg894 you probably have to wait for the green box to pop up not the white box
Nice
Thanks so much ♡
Greetings from Germany
Hello

Water proof camera model and company name plz
Terrible color filter and terrible place
And just point and shoot
You need a beautiful place for wedding shots , not a trashy place

Not if you have the audio on, I walk you thru the steps and how to add variety to get 20 poses.
💞
Sorry all natural light shots look bland, some introduction of strobe or LED would make them pop.
Agreed. They are very flat.

60fps looks scary to me.
idk what video settings to use on my iphone, do you have a recommendation?
Jessica Whitaker yeah try the 4k 24 FPS if you have the Ip8. I’m not sure you used 60 but it looks like you did. Great video though.
Early 🔥

lolz 🤭🥱
You talk too much but thanks for sharing your ideas
