James Hetfield's Guitar Tone In A Box?

- I was experimenting with the Dual Wreck amp model from my Fender Tonemaster Pro attempting to recreate James Hetfield's guitar tone from "...and justice for all" and feel like I got quite close with a little help from the EQ7 Graphic Pedal for an extra mid scoop. Subscribe for an upcoming video where I look at some of Metallica's iconic guitar tones.
The guitar used for this recording was my Ibanez RG500 with stock Ibanez passive humbuckers.

My favorite tone of all time. But since I have a bassist in my band, i can never quite achieve it live.
I love it too, so many people complain about no bass but it was the first album that I heard that I wanted to sound like myself. Just turn the bass player down when he's not looking 🤣
Really i think it would work great live the bass from the guitar mixing with the bass from the bass guitar would hit you in the chest you just gotta make sure your drummer has a powerful enough kick drum
It’s in the neighborhood, but I can still hear some of that loose low end flub the Recto is notorious for here. I bet if you tried another EQ in front of the amp you could dial that out. This is what the Mark series EQ knobs actually do - they’re before the gain stages.
Yus!! Great song selection, I remember instantly loving this song on my first hearing back in the day. AJFA is probably my favourite metal guitar tone of all time.
I’ve been hoping you’d do a metal tune next, the tone is great. Sound isn’t as big as the original but maybe that’s a mixing/multitrack nuance.
Thanks Steve yes I've always loved this album too, very hard to replicate the tone exactly and I'm still playing around trying to get closer, might try combining a Dual Rectifier & Mark IIc

You need to over dub it like 80 more times make it stereo scoop the mids more and add more gain
Yeah it's pretty hard to replicate just using 2 tracked guitars and I'm admittedly a little off with the tone but I'm working on a new preset to get closer. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍

Theres an ir company that makes your tone sound like other bands and they have a pantera one that sounds really close i had a lot of fun playing sad but true with it
When I was 15/16 I was in a metal band and stole the Thunder kiss '65 riff, changed the rhythm a bit and pretended it was my own 🤣
This comparison is practically 1 to 1, perhaps a bit more of a dip at 800? Fantastic job, this is extremely difficult to do.
