Ive been loving these videos. Your J Dilla 6/8 chopping helped me understand what i needed to do to make my beats sound right. One thing i would like to see is a Madlib series in the same way you do the Premo and Dilla ones. Big ups
Awesome video I just recently copped a 2000xl missing some buttons and jog wheel missed up but working good had the 404 OG for 3 years this video helped decently with me peace
glad i stumbled upon this, trying to hook me up 404sx with my mpc 1000 in a similar fashion. Going to check out your video on time stretch and any sampling tip videos you have. Finally chopping samples up hard these days, before i would use samples or loops occasionally usually to trigger some sort of speech or sound effect but now im ripping pieces of songs just to pull out a hi-hat or a bass drum, or even taking a random guitar and pitching it down into a bass drum. I've known for a while i wanted to get into this so i've collected quite a few records and made some drum packs already for my Volca Sample but luckily all that stuff i could just throw on the MPC.
That pitch shift on that machine is pretty damn impressive. I got a machine made by emu called the e4000 (rack) that has the best filters and pitch shift ive ever heard. I always slept on the boss gear until lofi music brought it to my attention
Verysickbeats can you do some more 2000xl and sp404 sx/a vids please like the whole linking them applying filters bringing it back through akai thanks man
I was curious on how you use the SP,man I miss this machine! You are absolutely right, the fx are insanely dope;) Not on Twitter for the moment, but should be in the months to come.I'll definitely follow you!
dope!! is there anyway to bring the sample back to the mpc if you got all the right cables without having to unhook stuff (for workflow purpose) or will you have some type of feedback loop the way you had everything hooked up and you'll always have to switch cord around. (i dont want to use midi) thinking about getting one of.these and wanted to know a good setup between turntable, dj mixer, sp into mpc, without midi
+Verysickbeats so i can have the sp outs going into the record in of the mpc and still have the mpc headphone jack going into the mic in, just like you had in this video without a feedback loop? and thanks for the response and as always another dope vid
@@Verysickbeats can u explain the wiring right now I have a SP404og and a MPC 2000.. I can't use my headphone jack because it's wired into my interface how would I play my sounds from my MPC though my Sp404 into my Interface
some more videos focused strictly on the SP would be awesome if you ever wanted to do something like that. i just feel like youtube lacks good tutorial videos on samplers in general and you would be the man that would change that. regardless, peace be with you homie. love the vids
hi! nice video. im trying to do the same but with an mpc 1000. what cables do i need to connect sp 404 & the mpc so i can record like you have done here. thanks in advance! much love and blessings for what you do. =) one more thing, do i really need an audio interface to do this? thanks!!
JFILT this is exactly what i was looking for!! I was worrying about how I Can route mpc to sp and back and I think u just cracked the code for me!! One question: I know if you use SP line in for mpc and sp line out back to mpc it can cause feedback loops, what i want to know is that do i have to worry about feedback loops with the method you used? MPC phones to SP Mic in, and back to mpc with line out?
Verysickbeats did just that right now and got a grainy howling sound from my MPC to SP using mic in... guess I’ll have to use 8 outs! Thanks again filt you educating me everyday with your videos
i dont make full beats inside sp404, just loops. U could build loops and then play them in the order u want for a complete song while recording it in your DAW if u wanted
Is it possible to use midi sync to be able to trigger pads and tracks on the SP using pads on the MPC, like say if you were making a sequence on the mpc with drums and some other type of sample on the SP, could you record that into the mpc so when you play it back, it plays both the mpc and SP
hey, i know im a few years late but i wanted to ask a question. im thinking about buying an mpc, and i want to know how would i transfer a sample from my computer to my mpc? thanks
What do you actually need the MPC for here? Can you not do all this with the SP alone? Looks like a bit of an overkill to me but I might have missed something.
So I'm looking to buy a MPC 1000 or some type of drum machine, considering the SP as well...... But man I need help with what to do. I just wanna chop samples and make some phat drum patterns with crazy effects. I know that Samiyam uses the SP. anyone have recommendations ??
@@Metamophisis I might have to get me another one at some point Meta 😀 Sup my brother? All is well this way just trying to stay safe and still digging in the crates brah 😂 I found a good LP today Blue Mitchell my 1st Blue album 😂 Keep banging Meta keep banging.. Jazz.. 1
Guys I need your help. I'm tossed up between the sp 404 and an mpc studio. I will eventually have both but being on a budget what would you reccomend I aquire first? I've been experimenting with different types of music off and on for a number of years but I've never been able to reach a point where I'm satisfied enough to release something officially. This is my first foray into sample based music. Thanks.
TIP: Press cancel and rec at the same time set the ctrl 3 knob to -4- it'll auto rec as soon as sounds hit so you don't have any space
does this work on the og 404 too?
+RTO Beats yea bro
+Brandon “Jay Alpha” Jackson OK thanks imma check that out

Thanks for the idea and your very positive giggle )

This is great. I saw Madlib with set-up when he is on his crate digging trip to Brazil. You see him working on a beat in his hotel room.

So now I m back to sampling......Boooom^^
You saved my day , now I know how to join Forces!
Thank you!
Keep doing your videos!
One Love !!!!
my pleasure!
Can you please tell me ,how you managed to get the sound of both of them without switching cables
Physiktest each machine has its own cable going into a mixer on its own respective channel
thanks!
Verysickbeats saved me I have a 1000 was gonna take my sp back now I see how to get busy with both

Do i have to unplug and plug the S404 everytime or can this set up be one time thing
depends on what you are doing but i'd say just 1 time

This very video is why you should get push 2, you won't have to jump between the two. And no more tracking out... FILT do it !!!!
+RTO Beats im itching for it believe me LOLOL
Great videos! Do u ever sequence the SP with your MPC? Can u apply fx to each sample in the SP, when triggering them from an MPC?
thanks, not really, i'd say yes if the fx is triggered for each sample and or if you resample the fx to each sample

thanks and no u don't need an interface to do what i did. you can use RCA to 1/4 inch cables like im using in the vid
Sp1200, ensoniq eps, and 2000xl run into a cheap Yamaha mixer with the effects is my personal favorite combo

Can u explain the wiring for this in detail
Can you make a vid with the sp and mpd32 ? via midi hook up
+E Productionz unfortunately at the time of writing this, i don't have the mpc32

cam you use the sp-404sx as a mixer for turntables
i would say yes even tho i never tried it LOL

if you are accustomed to making beats along with your computer i'd suggest mpc studio, if not go with SP but it depends on the best deal u can find
Verysickbeats appreciate the response! Just picked up the mpc studio black for $300.
wow thats a dope deal!!
