The Richard Roundtree announcement got me good, an OMG moment would be an understatement. He was a popular TV hero for many black folks in the U.K. Both the TV character and the talented actor was a symbol of stellar success. He was a much needed and timely inspiration, particular to black youths struggling to fit in and contribute to a society that quite frankly couldn’t care less, RIP.
I was a cinema usherette when SHAFT was released 50 years ago. I got to watch the movie and enjoy the music 4 times a day. One of the few movies I liked
Thank you for remembering Rod Roddy. I loved his one liner "come on down..." on the Price Is Right. I am always surprised when I see pictures of "people behind the voice." Like Roddy, his was one of those household voices most Americans knew without having a face associated with it.
Plus this channel tells about true deaths not like who died today and i think the channel is called celebriety deaths. I don’t know how they can get away with what they’re doing. I have tried reporting them to you tube. I also appreciate this channel for keeping us informed of who passes during the week.
Richard Roundtree was awesome as the original John Shaft in the sequels and the reboot!!!! he is forever both an american icon and the first black action star!!!!! REST IN PEACE!!!!
Yes, I had forgotten that it has been 30 years since the passing of the great Vincent Price. And it was close to Halloween as well, so it was just about fitting.
We were born in the same hometown. Remember his last movie roll I think was a Tim Burton movie with Johnny Depp. It doesn't seem like it's been 30 years since he left us. I'm still enjoying his movies this Halloween or anytime. R. I. P. fellow St Louisan🌹♥️🙏
Today is October 28 and we learned that Matthew Perry was found drowned in his hot tub at his home. Rip to him and all those we lost this week including my neighbor who lost his battle to cancer.
Richard Roundtree was a heartthrob of mine. Good looking and a great screen presence. Rosa Parks is one of my idols, and I believe her image should be on a U.S. coin. Most of these talented and civic minded people lived successful and long lives, and I thank them for the contributions they made to society. May the all rest in peace.
@@katiegrundle9900 white, black…whatever..A hunk is a hunk! And he was beautiful. I’m a 74 yr. old white woman, and I always found RR a very appealing man.
Nicholas McDaniel a 36 year old Post Falls, Idaho police officer passed from a heart attack right around the corner in my neighborhood. He will be missed and the local residents are quite saddened by his sudden passing.
I knew about the legendary Richard Roundtree, but Dwight Twilley's passing was a surprise. I like that he got a little bit of attention when one of his songs was used in "You're Next". You can't predict things like that.
I was shocked to see Richard Roundtree on here. He was such an amazing actor, he will be missed. Cancer has devastated so many. I hate cancer! May all people on here rest in peace.
Thank you so much for your weekly show. I wait to hear your voice telling me who died and whose anniversary it is. You have the most honest sounding voice. ❤
Please don't forget actress Dorothy Stinnette: she passed on Monday, 10.23.23 at the age of 94. She is remembered for roles on stage and screen: Murder, Inc. With Peter Falk and Simon Oakland, Highway Patrol, Somerset, The Edge of Night, All My Children and Another Life. She also starred in countless commercials. She was a native of Wichita, Kansas. PLEASE SOMEONE POST HER OBIT. Thank you.
we loved Edge of Night! and i know she appeared in other soaps &c. .. thank you for commenting as i had not seen her death listed, i hope it will be added to a future video
Sir Bobby Charlton was a Legendary Football hero. He will be sorely missed in the footballing world. A Fifa World Cup Winner of 1966 along with the England Team
I remember Bobby Charlton in around year 2000, when he said that National Football Teams should not be allowed to be Managed by Foreign Managers, when just a few years earlier he was Manager of Ireland's Team and, Bobby himself was never an Irish National.
@@MysteryBoy-x4tEver wondered if his experience with Ireland predicated his statement about foreign managers and national teams? Think about it when you get some time.
It was shocking to hear his passing and it is further shocking that he had a quiet death. After all he did, I thought they would talk about him for a while..but not really. Where I live in Britain, it was a quick announcement
Particularly sad to hear that Bobby Charlton has died. He was an amazing footballer and a great person. May all of these wonderful people Rest In Peace.
Thank you for your beautiful tributes & half-staff memorials. You do such a great job paying homage to these beautiful souls. May they RIP. Lifting prayers & condolences for their loved ones. God Bless You & stay safe.
While Rod Roddy was most famous for saying "Come on down" it was not his signature phrase. That term belongs to his predecessor Johnny Olsen. Rod had several announcing gigs before his tenure on TPIR most notably on Press Your Luck
I agree and she will *definitely* be missed. Her quiet *portrayal* of *Catherine* on the show gave viewers not *too* much, but it was just *enough* to get the *Project* up and running. When you watch the *Reunion* with *Ernest* and see how they both felt, it was *especially poignant* to behold!! R. I. P. to *Elizabeth Hoffman* and also to *Don S. Davis* who led the show with a *strong* but *loving* hand as a General.👲💖😢
The only one I remembered as soon as saw his picture on the cover is Shaft, ( Richard Rountree ) even though it was in 1977 the only time I watched any of his films and, that was on TV. Goes to show that, somethings we never seem to forget while, everything else we can forget seconds later. Well, that's always the case with me.
As a Brit, I was devastated to learn about the fabulous Haydn Gwynne. I recall the first time I saw her acting in the wonderful “Peak Practice” as a very caring doctor. She was also fabulously funny in “The Windsors” as that awful adulteress “woman” that is married to that idiot who thinks he is king (not my king). I don’t know what they will do now without her- maybe it’s a sign that she should actually go for real and give us our true King and Queen. RIP Haydn, you will be missed and condolences to the family and friends of every other person that has departed and moved on to the next life.
I love your work. It is so infromatiive. I was surprised however that you did not include Bill Kenwright, noted British theatre producer, football chairman and actor, in this edition.
I remembered Shaft as a child. In KCMO we had drive-in theaters we would go to as a family of six. You had a screen in front of you but could turn your head and watch another screen with another movie off to the side by turning your head some. One time in this I saw the part of Shaft's naked body in a hot room with sand he burned himself in the sand not to burn. Mom and dad took us home in pointing this out.
The man who shot 22 killed 18 in Maine committed suicide, the police found on 10~27~24) him dead . Im from Lewiston ME, our city was on lockdown till they found him

Former NHL player Adam Johnson tragically died due to a freak accident in the EIHL while playing for the Nottingham Panthers in the United Kingdom. Johnny Olson was 1st. Rod Roddy was on Press Your Luck.
