I love this teaching! NO theatrics, no emotional manipulation, no yelling and pontificating . . .just a gifted teacher sharing truth from God's word. This is the stuff that changes hearts and has lasting value. The lost world can listen and consider rather than be repulsed by the "show" so many put on. Thank you, Dr. Keller, for teaching in a way that honors God's word and recognizes no theatrics are needed. Truth penetrates on it's own.

Thirty four years ago a dear friend told me that a new pastor was starting a church in our city and he wanted to visit it. So we went to Redeemer Presbyterian Church in 1989 and we met Tim Keller. I was a baby Christian at the time and had never been taught the foundations of my faith or sound theology until I started listening to Pastor Tim. He informed my faith and set my feet upon the Rock, our Lord. I’ve been to many churches and heard many sermons since those early years but I can’t remember any of them. Only Tim’s teaching and preaching still remains in my heart and the Holy Spirit brings his words back to me when I need them most. I also want you to know that he is one of the kindest Christian pastors I have ever know met. He is genuine, honest, gentle, respectful and he really loves the body of Christ. I’m so glad that he is beyond his earthly sufferings now and is finally home with Jesus.
Finally I would just like to address those who have questioned his worth or demeaned Tim’s name in some of the comments I have read here. Was Tim perfect? Absolutely not! And, I too believe that he missed the mark on at least two accounts in his later years. His social justice advocacy stance I believe was not biblical and his seeker friendly approach to evangelism saddened me. However, God used him mightily to save thousands of unbelievers, to plant many other biblically based churches and, to those who knew him personally, be a strong witness of the gentle power, humility and love of Jesus Christ. We have receive abundant (undeserved) Mercy and are called to be vessels of mercy and not of wrath.
What Tim has given to me and myriads of others is beyond description and eternally precious! This teaching video has brought comfort to many of us who have listened. The Grace of God was truly on Tim’s life until the end. Blessed and Merciful Father God, please help us to be as loving as our brother and your servant Tim Keller. God bless you all!✝️❣️🙏

How did he transform your life? Keller was frown upon by many respectable prominent Christians scholars who found him to be a heretic. He was more into urban humanist Christianity, a hippie guru love gospel where love cures all things. Very much removed from the core message of the gospel. Please study him and you will see he was very controversial, if not he had a lot of disturbing messages that did not align with the gospel. Also I left the NYC Redeemer bc of the tone, message and style of the church, super worldly, hipster, and always without fail a humanist message of urban love rather than the love of Jesus Christ of repentance.

For 7 years I was facing death dealing with an illness with unending pain, but worst of all i knew that i would be leaving my disabled single mother behind in this world. I grew to know darkness deeply and intimately and empathize with every murderer and evildoer throughout history. Like this man in the Bible i cursed and wrestled with God buti can say now that because of how far and stubborn I was, God needed to deal this heavy blow. But moreso than that, God wanted me back. I'm still traumatized and broken but I am growing in every way that matters. Getting pretty healthy too.

Just as how there are trillions of organisms in the universe, God's faith can be given in any way he sees fit. Whether that's through scripture, a sequence of events, a small seed of faith that's been given as a child, or a crushing blow to the core of our very being -- all we can do is make a genuine decision to accept that seed of faith and press forward and invest in the relationship to truly see for yourself where the relationship takes you. 3. As with all relationships, you need to invest your heart and time into it. That's what God wants and that's one of the ways in which the seed can grow. I wish you all the best.

      Music he is confounded.
      Everybody needs to know this!
The whole world is drunk on the doctrines of Babylon!
INCLUDING and ESPECIALLY the visible Christian church.
PLEASE if you can sense the deadness of the institutional churches and different ministries but can't put your finger on it. I'm pleading with you to understand something very important here. The mainstream Christian system is not of God.
Rev 17:5 - "Mystery, Babylon The Great, The Mother Of Harlots, And Abominations Of The Earth."
Mystery Babylon The Great is the Vatican - “And the woman which thou sawest, is that great Citie which reigneth ouer the kings of the earth.” - Rev 17:18
And she has harlot daughters which represent the protestant churches.
And “the Abominations Of The Earth” are corrupt scriptures.
And the final bible that will unite all faiths is called Wormwood/the Abomination of desolation. cvillebiblebaptist.com/AdultEducation/Vatican%20and%20United%20Nations%20Bible.pdf
And Jesus Christ is calling His people out.

      Rev 18:4
“And I heard another voice from heauen, saying, Come out of her, my people, that yee be not partakers of her sinnes, and that yee receiue not of her plagues:”
The most important thing to understand is that GOD CAN BE TRUSTED to preserve His word for every generation forever as He promises us in Psalms 12:6-7 and you do not need men to teach you.
      1 John 2:27
“But the anointing which ye haue receiued of him, abideth in you: and yee need not that any man teach you: But, as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is trueth, and is no lye: and euen as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.”
It’s vital to know, especially right now, that God has kept His word in tact.
There is still an every word testimony with us!
The following clip by Reg Block is what the Lord used to open my eyes to the truth of Gods promises in Mark 13:31, Psalm 12:6-7, Psalms 138:2, and Matt 4:4 and so on.
It’s not more lifeless information. It is powerful and life changing and I’m grateful for it!
      ruclips.net/video/tAMOquyQu-8/видео.html
The next video is a lesson by John Doerr on the pure word of God in the English language, which is found in the av1611 kjv. This is a much different testimony than the King James bible you are able to easily find in the churches and the so called "Christian bookstores". Please pray and genuinely take this before the Lord. He will show you. (Prepare to be attacked once you start down this path) The devil and his ministers don’t want this going out.
      ruclips.net/video/C9lIWdQ0rc0/видео.html
I prayed a long time to know what the truth was, because over the years I grew increasingly confused, frustrated, misguided and so on.. But like most of us, I kept returning to church Sunday after next hoping something would change. If I sang more, prayed harder, got more involved, etc, ...maybe something would give. But nothing ever did. I must have walked a thousand isles. It had gotten to a point where a friend at the time said, “just try and sing". He meant well, but it was always disingenuous so I never did. Long story short - my whole Christian life was that way until recently. (powerless) God has since opened my eyes and I trust Him alone.
I really hope this reaches somebody. If this is you... honestly, please look into what I’m saying. God is rich in mercy and His patience is unmatched. He's been drawing me for a long time. Maybe He’s drawing you too and this is the message you needed.
This link is a series of interviews between Reg Block and John Doerr that go in depth regarding Johns trip to England for the purposes of co-producing three films: A lamp in the dark, Tares among the wheat and A bridge to babylon.
The three films (free to watch), cover the history of the bible. More specifically the preservation of Gods word and the measures that have been taken to cast doubt on, and ultimately destroy it.
(it's a treasure of information for the Saints) - find the first interview to start on.
      ruclips.net/channel/UCIfGUbjTsGu1dfoNqYUZzmgvideos
here is one very final clip on the "servants of Lucifer"
      ruclips.net/video/DuVTlYYos0c/видео.html
"(if it were possible,) they shall deceiue the very elect.”
It’s imperative to understand that the av1611 is much different than the 1769 KJV that most believe is the true 1611 but is not. The KJV only movement doesn’t use the authorized version of 1611 either.
This is the bible that Rome has been trying to destroy and cast doubt on since its inception. Everything, from the gun powder plot to false rumours of King James being gay. It contains all the prophecies in tact. Things like, what is the mark of the beast, what is wormwood, who and what is Antichrist, who are Leviathan and Behemoth representations of, and so on.
If the scriptures are broken, the prophets are killed and the church can’t hear what the Spirit is saying.
freely ye haue receiued, freely giue.”
      Matt 10:8

I prayed a long time to know what the truth was, because over the years I grew increasingly confused, frustrated, misguided and so on.. But like most of us, I kept returning to church Sunday after next hoping something would change. If I sang more, prayed harder, got more involved, etc, ...maybe something would give. But nothing ever did. I must have walked a thousand isles. It had gotten to a point where a friend at the time said, “just try and sing". He meant well, but it was always disingenuous so I never did. This sermon is certainly the most pertinent I've ever heard. While I've only been a follower of Jesus for a few years, the tenor of Psalm 88 generslly captures how I've felt since I was young. And while I have certainty now that Jesus died for us, still the darkness keeps invading my heart; but it's made all the more bearable because of that certainty, and it is this very sermon I just watched that has propped another pillar under this weary soul. Thank you, Chris, for sending me this; Thank you, Pastor Tim, God rest your soul, for so powerfully preaching on this subject; And thank you, Jesus Christ my savior, for loving us all so. Thank you, God.

2nd time watching this, in awe of this quote:
“When you go through darkness if you don’t feel God’s there. But you hold on anyway, and you say, "you know what you’re God and I’m not and I’m not getting anything out of this but I’m still going to pray, I’m still gonna go to church and worship I’m still going to love my neighbor I’m still gonna do the things I ought to do..That will turn you into a person not self-centered not in a transactional relationship up and down all the time it’ll turn you into a person of endurance, of stability, of strength, of greatness…" -Tim Keller: How to deal with dark times.
Amen! Thank you Lord for this encouragement. It is so hard when we go through darkness even to the point when darkness is our closest friend. Yet You taught us Lord that it is okay to pray of our struggles and to feel the despairs of life. Thank you Lord for giving us hope through Jesus who experienced total darkness and overcame it all. Tim Keller is a truly world class Bible teacher. RIP.
Also just to say I think most of these same principles also apply to those who are not depressed, but still find it difficult to cultivate strong feelings of emotion/empathy towards God, despite knowing that Christianity is objectively true. I'm on the Autistic spectrum, and know shed loads of systematic theology and apologetics, but at the same time also have moderate alexithymia my whole life, towards others and towards God. I've struggled to break free from a transactional view of faith for as long as I can remember.
Overall this was extremely helpful and Godly.

This message was very helpful. Even after regeneration I lose my way and wander and I get angry with God and His spirit seems to leave me completely but yet even when I cry out to Him I love Him in the emptiness but more importantly He’s there and still loves me. Just the slightest touch from Him is unimaginable joy.

Scott Riley here is a point in the right direction.

      Matt 10:8

Incredibly insightful teaching and so very encouraging. I'm in the middle of the darkest times of my 46 years, suffering abandonment and what I feel is injustice. To be able to ingest sound, Biblical truth that says it's in the midst of these horrible times, I can both learn more of God's grace and better stride to greatness than when in prosperous times - this encourages and inspires me, comforts and strengthens me. Glory to God!

Greg Snyder thank you very much. Definitely clinging to scripture. The book of Habakkuk is a great read and the declarations he chooses to make at the end lift my soul. “Even though the fig trees have no blossoms, and there are no grapes on the vines; even though the olive crop fails, and the fields lie empty and barren; even though the flocks die in the fields, and the cattle barns are empty; yet I will rejoice in the Lord! I will remain joyful in the God of my salvation! The sovereign Lord is my strength! He makes me as sure footed as a deer, able to trade it up on the heights.”
Reading two new books- Craig Groeschel’s Hope in the Dark and Lysa TerHeurst’s It’s Not Supposed To Be This Way”, both really good. Thank you for the encouragement!

    • @johnkim7802
      @johnkim7802 6 лет назад

      Natalie Nubukpo,
Amen! A concept Timothy Keller does well in reminding us is how the more we see Jesus Christ and learn about Him, we are constantly reminded how He demands much less and much more at the same time. Such applies to situations of suffering; and knowing Jesus Christ more and more makes situations of suffering demand more from us to stay joyful and ethical while promising us how there are greater & better things ahead. There is a demand to have a more resilient self and realize how He makes all things work together for the good of those who believe in Him but also with promises that God will eventually give us more than what we can ever imagine.
Many people turn to different philosophies and religions when there is suffering; and they cry out in despair in most crucial times. All of them have so many different answers to suffering including some that state such is only an illusion.

When he says 'darkness is my closest friend' the psalmist isn't saying 'I prefer the darkness'. The psalmist is saying, 'this is the companion that surrounds me at this time'. He is stressing his desire for the light of the Lord.

Isaiah 50:10 "Who among you fears the Lord? Who obeys the voice of His Servant? Who walks in darkness and has no light? Let him trust in the name of the Lord and rely upon his God." Very fitting passage for this message. Also, consider Ecclesiastes 7:3 "Sorrow is better than laughter, for when a face is sad the heart may be happy." What really supports this truth is John 16:22. Tim Keller's message is much needed today among all true Christ Follower's !!!

There are many criticisms and complaints that could be lodged against Mr. Keller, especially towards the end of his life. However, I can find no fault with this sermon. This has been a great encouragement to me, and it reinforces exactly what he is preaching. I think we would all do well to remember this exortation, If you can call it that, To the end of our days.
