Wow, excellent presentation of the tent. This helped us immensely with our decision. I appreciated how systematic and practical your video is. Well done!
Nice review of this tent. I did buy the 6-person SkyDome darkroom and it's amazing on the inside and to sleep in with some LED lighting . Super roomy and I can easily stand up and move around. I'm 5'9. It works perfect for me because no matter what tent I have, I carefully plan to not camp with any chance of rain in the forecast lol. So if it would leak I don't even care. I took it out for the first time to try it on Saturday. It was a cold night around 40°so I didn't put the pole in on the front of the rainfly to avoid any additional draft getting into the tent plus I ran an electric heater. Hoping to see a review of the six-person dark room skydome in the future. Thanks for another great video ! 😁
Thank you so much for sharing Mike! Phew I'm really glad that you've liked the Skydome! And I'm glad you decided to go with the 6P instead of the 4P too, it's definitely a lot more spacious! How did it fare in the cold? I figured the mesh walls might be kind of drafty. And it's great that you plan not to camp with rain! Hahaha I usually do that too by checking the forecast before I go camping hahaha. I'm glad you liked this video, it means a lot 😊
@@CampingGuidance as far as the cold ,I didn't tie down the guy lines so for the most part the rainfly lay flat against the mesh. No problem. Your content makes me come back for more. I sent the 6p back because of the sealant issue. It rained lightly where I was, but it still managed to get through the tent. Also, I had the dark room version and there was an issue with the level of darkness. I expected it to be much darker than it was. Another thing for me was the only window being the door. It meant that I had to remove the rainfly to see around me. I didn’t mind the pole attachments as much, but packing it up, I had the same issue as you did, but it wasn’t too bad. Maybe I need to try another brand? 🤷🏾♂️
@@romulus7495 Thank you so much for sharing Romulus! Ah I see. In that case I think the Sundome 6P would be a much better fit for you. It has a little more rainfly protection, and 2 windows instead of 1. But if you expect heavy rains you still have to seal the seams yourself. It beats me why Coleman doesn't seal their seams, it's so strange!! And maybe your dark room feature was defective? I had the same problem with the Carlsbad haha. Hey Brad, thanks for sharing! 😊 Don't worry about it! It's not a bad tent, just that I think the claims of "5-min pitch" and "20% more headroom" might be a little overstated. But otherwise it's pretty good! Most of my Coleman products are usually good value for money 😊 Let me know how it goes!
Just got home from a camping using this coleman tent. I like it! It does spinkled during the night of our camping but it was comfortable still. I was watching videos bc there is additional item in there I dont know exactly what's the use. But we built it correctly. Excited to use it again on our next camp out. Will buy a queen size inflatable bed next time for sure. That was the only issue I had during our camping. The twin size bed wasnt enough for me and my partner.

@@CampingGuidance I couldn’t really tell the difference in darkroom because of an overcast raining day. However, I so far had no leaks from the rain today. I attached the rod for the rain fly also. I like the difference it makes in coming in and out of the tent.
@@StephenClarkDobson Ah I see! Maybe next time then, if you use it during a sunny day 😊 Really glad that you didn't have any leaks so far! Fingers crossed that it stays that way! Oh yeah and the rod for the rainfly is important to set up for sure. Glad you're liking it so far Stephen!
I bought the queen pad that looks just like yours and was having a hard time picturing it in a 4 or 6 person skydome and sundome tent. You did exactly that. Thank you. How do you think the sundome would be for stargazing? The skydome looks great, but I think a little too open for wind. Thank you for such a great review!!!
You're most welcome DG! I'm really glad that the mattress sizing helped you out 😊 Thank you so much for your comment and for letting me know! 😊 Hmm, the Sundome has a little less mesh than the Skydome, 2 mesh walls instead of 3, so naturally the Skydome is better for stargazing. But I found the Sundome not too shabby either! I think I should have a shot of what the Sundome looks like without the rainfly somewhere under the Ventilation test 😊 I hope this helps!
@CampingGuidance yes it helps a lot. They always overstate x-person. I now know that I can get the 4 person instead of the 6 and have enough room for the mattress 2 people and our bags... Comfortably. I also noticed you have a lot of videos on other camping goods, also. I sub'd and will be checking those out, too. Thanks for all the attention to detail. You do a great job!!!
@@DG-kq8zf You're definitely right about that DG! I find that it's best to decrease the capacity by 2. Sometimes even 3! I found that 6P tents fit 4 people comfortably, some of them only 3 people comfortably haha. Glad to know that you'll be able to buy a 4P! One thing about the 4P though, I couldn't stand up in it, while I could stand up in my 6P. And thank you so much for subbing and watching my videos!! I want to eventually publish videos on all kinds of camping stuff. There isn't super a lot now, but hopefully there would be more in the future 😊 Thanks for all your support and comments DG!
I have had a Coleman tent for roughly over 15 years now and still looks like the day I bought it. They are made with good quality for the price. Mind you, you still should apply a waterproofing/UV protection on the fabric every 2-3 years. I found that with other name brand tents that the waterproofing products don't function so well; however, they work great on Coleman. My Coleman has been out in the rain for hours in Canadian weather without a drop seeping inside of it. Mind you, maybe they are making them cheaper nowadays?
Hey Sebastien! Thanks so much for the input! I'm really glad that your Coleman tent has been going strong for that long, that's honestly really impressive. 😊 I didn't start testing products until recently so I don't know if they've been making them cheaper nowadays compared to last time (though from the chatter I think it might be true). And yeah waterproofing prep is definitely important!
As a 15+ year user of Coleman tents, I can say that the floors in Coleman tents are top notch. Unfortunately, the fly setup needs improvement. The fly hangs down only a few inches longer than the mesh on the side of the tent. This creates several problems. First, when the wind blows, you get wind-blown rain inside your tent, and there's nothing you can do about it. You can adjust how close the stakes are to the edge of the tent, but that still won't prevent rain from getting in. Second, if you don't stake your fly out (which you might not if the sky looks clear when you go to sleep), then the fly might leave a bit of mesh exposed to the elements. If it starts raining while you're sleeping, all the water that runs down the side of the fly will run right into your tent. Third, and this should be obvious by now: you MUST stake down your rain fly. It's only held on the corners with bungee cords. As those age and don't hold as tight, the wind WILL move your rain fly, leaving you with places where you are exposed. (Possibly embarrassing while you're getting dressed). As much as I love the bang-for-the-buck of the Sundome tents, the fly is problematic when camping in rainy or windy conditions. And it's been that way on this model for at least 10 years.
Thanks so much for the input Chris! I think you’re definitely right on the money with your observations on Coleman tents! I’ve experienced some of them myself, so thank you so much for putting it up here as well! I still think it’s bang for the buck though, just probably best to get a better tent in extremely rainy or windy conditions 😊
@@Eglantine9Lunar No worries Allie! Feel free to ask any question and I'll do my best to help 😊 Hmm for me personally, I don't usually camp in strong winds, so I just stake down the fly as close to the tent as possible when it's raining, and that works for me. And yes you can also set up a tarp overhead in an A frame to give you much better rain and wind protection 😊
Haha I have no idea why also! I suspect their rain tests may not be as heavy as the one I put the Skydome through, that's why. But they did come up with a full fly version, if you're interested in getting it! It should have better protection for sure.
Hey Luis! For a couple and 2 kids, I'd recommend a 6-person tent. My fav is the Wawona, but I can provide you with a better recommendation if you can let me know your budget and what you want in a tent! 😁

You're most welcome Itzel! I'm really glad that you liked the review, and thank you so much for your comment! 😊 Let me know how you like your Skydome! Would love to hear your opinion on it, if you have time of course. And I used the air pump that came with the Alps Mountaineering Vertex Airbed! It has a rechargeable battery, but I don't think they sell the pump without the mattress though.
Hi Jane! Hmm this isn't the Sundome, it's an 'updated' version of Coleman's Sundome and it's called the Skydome, but honestly I prefer the Sundome haha. Where do you normally get your tents from? I still see lots of different options for Sundomes on Amazon. Let me know and I'll do my best to help you out! 😊

Hi Luna! Thanks for the question! I think I used quite a few in this video. The green double pad is the Exped MegaMat Duo 10, the blue double pad is the Klymit Double V Uninsulated, and the blue queen mattress is the Alps Mountaineering Vertex Airbed. I've reviews of all this on my channel 😊 And I bought them all from Amazon! I hope this helps! 😊

the rain test just shows this tent will not work for me. Ohio just rains too much and too often. i am loving going through you old videos as they are great. thanks for all the hard work.
Aww thank you so much Mike! I'm really glad that you're liking the old videos as well! It really really means A LOT to me! Thank you! 🥰🥰 Actually I think Coleman came up with an upgrade to this tent! It has a full rainfly rather than the pretty short one in this video. Maybe I'll get to test it out one day in the future 😊
What I come to realize is you half the number of people the manufacturer says. So 4 person tents are good for 2 or 3 people comfortably. A 10 is good for 5 people.
That's definitely the way to go if you like lots of space! I've even used 6-person tents with just 2 people - 2 queen beds, 1 person on each 😆 I think ultimately it depends on your space preference!
@have you heard Yeah sadly! They should have extended out the rainfly a little bit, and it would have improved tremendously. But nothing a little seam sealant and waterproofing spray can't fix 😊
This is simply unbelievable that companies manufacturing same products make such simple mistakes as too short fly at the entrrance... so disapointing and who the H designes them and not builing up upon previous experience! I'm not buying it!
@RedWolf Thank you so much for your kind comment, I really appreciate it! And no worries, the Skydome isn't for everyone. It's also not my favorite tent IMO hahaha 😊

Very good detailed review!
Thank you so much! I’m really glad you liked this review 😊
Comprehensive review. Thanks very much.
You're most welcome! And thank you so much for your kind words, it really means a lot that you like my review 🥰
Dude I like them triangular pockets.
@Pagpapaitim Haha yeah! It's so easy to just stuff the door in and take it out without fumbling with latches 😊 I'm glad you like them too!
thanks for the review! what bed are you using in the tents? it looks great.
It was my pleasure! 🥰 Are you referring to the brown-ish queen bed? That's the Etekcity!
If you leave the rain fly off can you start gaze through the net? Not sure if there’s any obstructions that I can’t see
Yes there's quite a bit of mesh up top! I think I should have a shot of it in the Ventilation test, let me know if I didn't put it in!
So informative!!! Thank you so so much
@o0o0o0oo0oo0o0o0o You're most welcome! It was my pleasure 😊 Thank YOU for your comment!
Is there a way to mitigate this? A tarp? I'm very new to camping, so sorry if my question sounds ignorant.
@@Eglantine9Lunar No worries Allie! Feel free to ask any question and I'll do my best to help 😊 Hmm for me personally, I don't usually camp in strong winds, so I just stake down the fly as close to the tent as possible when it's raining, and that works for me. And yes you can also set up a tarp overhead in an A frame to give you much better rain and wind protection 😊
really good informative review
Thank you so much! 🥰
Great review !
I just can't get my head around why Coleman would design a tent with a rain fly that's too short. Am i missing something ?
Haha I have no idea why also! I suspect their rain tests may not be as heavy as the one I put the Skydome through, that's why. But they did come up with a full fly version, if you're interested in getting it! It should have better protection for sure.
i love you reviews great video thank you
Thank you so much Julio, that means a lot to me! 🥰
Very informative, thank you 🙂
Thank you so much Yosef! Glad you liked the info 🥰
any recommendation for a couple and 3 and 5 year old? Thanks. Looking for 3 to 4 seasons.
Hey Luis! For a couple and 2 kids, I'd recommend a 6-person tent. My fav is the Wawona, but I can provide you with a better recommendation if you can let me know your budget and what you want in a tent! 😁
I’m so envious of your grass. Someone is a very skillful Gardner. Nice to see a face under the hat:) You’re pretty. Remind me of my ex-wife. Great review again Liz!
Hey Kim!! Thank you so much as always for your comments, you're always so sweet! 🥰 Hahaha I'm glad you think so and didn't mind me with my mask off, it really gives me more confidence 😊 And about the grass - it helps when you live near the equator and in perpetual summer like I do hahaha
Hi! thanks for your video. Great review! I just got this tent and I am about to set it up. Can you tell me what air bomb you used for your pads? does it work with batteries or rechargable battery
Hi, is this the new sundome? Can't seem to find sundome anywhere.
Would two twin air mattresses fit well?
yes that should be fine!
So what 4 to 6 person tent would you recommend for 3 or 4 seasons?
Hi Shanda, I've actually got the perfect video for you! It's called the Best 6-Person Tents video, and I do talk about 3 seasons and 3+ seasons tent. No 4 seasons though cos I only have summer where I am: ruclips.net/video/kwXZ4FpvSWA/видео.html
Okay thank you!!! I'll watch this.🙂
@shandah.5392 feel free to let me know if you have any questions after! 😊
Thanks for a great video🎉
Thank you so much Ramiro! Really glad that you liked the video 😊😊
Heyy i was wondering where u brought ur mattess from ?
Great video, thanks for the set up tips. I just picked up the newer version which has a full vestibule. They must of caught on that the little lip in the front doesn't work so well
You're most welcome and thank you so much for your comment! I'm really glad you liked the tips 😊 Oh nice!! Let me know how that works for you if you have the time, I've always wondered how that will do in the rain haha. And yeah they definitely must have! A great improvement for sure.
Yeah, an issue with their tents is the rainfly by the door, if that's what you want to call it.
Hey Sam! Thanks for the input! 😊 Hahaha yeah definitely, 'rainfly' by the door 😆
So is skydome 6p are better that sundome 6p ? Cant decide which one to get
Hi Piotr, I actually prefer the Sundome, it's equally simple to set up and I like that I can remove the poles completely. I actually reviewed both tents in my full round-up of all my Coleman tents 😊 Here's the link if you're interested: ruclips.net/video/q3-nya2F33c/видео.html
@@CampingGuidance Thank you for answer I was thinking that sundome 6p will be my first choice. And also I will take dark room version
@@macek140581 You're most welcome Piotr! I really like my Sundome Dark Room 6P too, that's my Best Value for Money pick for sure. If you get it off Amazon, it's really inexpensive 😊
여름에 쓰면 좋을것같아요. 한국으로 하나 보내주세요
Coleman Skydome 4 vs. Cherokee Ntk 3/4?????????
Can I pick the Sundome instead? I prefer that to those other 2 😅
Woaaah nice
Thank you! 🥰
the rain test just shows this tent will not work for me.
Sounded great until the water was inside the tent. All those extra features are nice but if it can't keep you dry it's useless in my opinion.
@have you heard Yeah sadly! They should have extended out the rainfly a little bit, and it would have improved tremendously. But nothing a little seam sealant and waterproofing spray can't fix 😊
i pooped into a coffee can
Uhhh thanks for sharing? 😆
This is simply unbelievable that companies manufacturing same products make such simple mistakes as too short fly at the entrrance... so disapointing and who the H designes them and not builing up upon previous experience! I'm not buying it!
Yeah that was such a pity! But they did come up with a full rainfly version that I wanna try out, I'm sure it's better!
Thanks a lot. you are in my best youtuber. But i didnot like tent
@RedWolf Thank you so much for your kind comment, I really appreciate it! And no worries, the Skydome isn't for everyone. It's also not my favorite tent IMO hahaha 😊
