I sure miss this guy. Not that I ever got to shake his hand. He was a great friend to all of us with that voice and words. Gregg never sold out, he kept that style till the end.

You can channel that handshake through me if you'd like. I went out for a midnight supper at the Pearl Restaurant & Oyster Bar in New Orleans after watching the Allmans do a New Year's Eve show at A Warehouse (1972?). He was sitting at the back with a pretty young lady sharing a meal. I think her name was Dixie Meadows. We were the only ones in the place. After thinking about leaving them in peace, I finally decided to walk by and say a quick hello. He very graciously chatted with me for a moment and we shook hands. Oh, and she gave me a sweet smile also.

    Well I've been out walking
I don't do that much talking these days
    These days
These days I seem to think a lot
About the things that I forgot to do
    For you
And all the times I had the chance to
    Well I had a lover
I don't think I'll risk another these days
    These days
These days I seem to be afraid
To live the life that I have made in song
But it's just that I have been losing
    For so long
These days I sit on cornerstones
Count the time in quarter tones 'till ten
    My friend
And now I believe I've come
    To see myself again
These days I sit on cornerstones
Count the time in quarter tones 'till ten
    My friend
Please don't confront me with my failure
    I'm aware of it
