I first saw this video during my miserable time doing electronic engineering at university. I was depressed, with no friends, a flat full of people I couldn't truly connect with, missing lectures, struggling to keep up with my workload, and wondering how I would ever even manage to complete university. The only thing I'd manage to do regularly was attend the anime society which I enjoyed but thoroughly felt like I didn't fit in. I was at my all time lowest, but when I saw this music video is was good enough to raise my mood and stick in my head on loop for a short while. The small boost in mood during the good moments of anime soc were enough to convince me that this uni was absolutely the wrong place for me, my default mood shouldn't be misery. Now here I am, in the process of one final 36-hour mad dash to finish my 3rd year dissertation doing Geology at a different uni - a place I never even imagined I would be when I first heard this song. I'm still battling the same neurotic perfectionism that marred my time at that uni, but I'm getting better at it. My whole life I'd simply taken the academic path since I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life, I had no _raison d'etre_ but now I'm on the precipice of seeing that path through and truly starting the next chapter of my life. In that time I've done things I never thought I could do, I dropped out of uni and survived just fine, found a course I enjoyed and could actually do, made friends in an unfamiliar city, made true friends in an unfamiliar city, lost my closest friendship and mourned it, forgot my closest friendship and didn't mourn it, survived first year, survived second year, and am surviving 3rd year just about. I'm getting by better than I ever imagined I could and while it's stressful in this very moment, it's a wonderful feeling. Just about the only thing I never managed to do was get a girlfriend, but I did at least meet a girl who was interested for the first time which is a nice first step. Once I free myself of the machinery of education I think I'll finally be able to believe in myself. The worst case scenario at this point is that I get a 2:2 accept it and move on with my life, but if I get a 2:1 I can be proud of my achievements and finally have a true reward for my two decades of endless, ceaseless strain. The future is bright. I can look forward to the rest of my life now. This song will always carry this period my life with me, I thank Eve for comissioning such a great video for one of their many great songs. And I hope the next periods of my life will be punctuated by many more :)
Just know that you're not the only one experiencing this. I'm also going through a lot right now, getting rid of some things and changing myself. It's a long story.. It's a difficult path, but I'm sure both of us and everyone else can handle it. I see progress and am proud of it! Today I took a few steps forward. But that's another story. Friend, hold on. I believe in you! I believe in us and our better life! I know you did a good job. I believe your words. Well done. I'm proud of you.

Just my own little understanding of such an amazing song: Our protagonist lives each day with a relative amount of numbness to the world, seemingly living on some level of autopilot as she sees herself as an outsider compared to everyone else... then begins the daydream which I see as a manifestation of who she sees herself as now and the person she wants to become, with all the confidence and drive to go beyond the limit she had set for herself. The first attempt to reach her goal ends in failure, with the future her looking down for their throne/hill and the video making sure to show the sheer distance between them both before the daydream ends and what seems like the next day begins (the way it ties into the ending of a dream is pretty cool). Having woken up and now remembering the dream, grasping the sheer distance between the present and future versions of herself, she stares into her room with a shocked, tearful expression before getting up and beginning the day again. I'd like to note a few of the lyrics: "Anyway, when you awaken to your dream, what will you see in your eyes?" - Reminds me of Dramaturgy's "...and the man, behind the curtain, appears. What do those eyes capture?" and the general idea of 'what are you looking/desiring for?' and how it helps rather well to relate with either song and impose your issues onto the MV, which in turn makes the lyrics emotional effect that more potent. Anyway, walking through the city, her daydream soon begins once more after a few measures talking of (as I interpret) 'Only by going against the grain or pure aversion of the matter can the crippling distance be avoided' and how she'll fake her laughter once more and remain not complaining about any of it. The second daydream encounter is interesting in comparison to the first, with the 'present' her managing to close the distance and attempt an attack, despite it being counted so mockingly easy, talk of "Taking arms against the other" showing a strengthened resolve to take down the version of her that looks down upon all she is and stands for right now The interlude-y bit that comes right after ties everything together really well so the next instance of the chorus has all the more emotional effect with understanding of the story so far. The talk of "Irritated with not lasting long, we looked down on others and laughed" and how without this coping method, her own heart would have been torn apart by sheer reality along with her belief of no one expecting anything from her lead well into "Back at that day, for no reason, there were eyes that looked straight ahead" To me, it reads as a sombre acceptance of it all, an acceptance of her worries and the distance she has to cross that's needed before being able to lay a hand on the version of her she so desperately wants to reach... and with such an acceptance she manages to cause some damage in the third daydream encounter. The throne is gone, reality becomes the background and their clashes actually seem to show both of them on equal footing, with the 'future' version of her being shot through buildings and having to actually attack this time. In the end, the crescent moon mask shatters and both step out of their alternate forms as the day breaks. In my own interpretation, I believe the end signifies her no longer vilifying her current self and deifying the person she wants to be, now seeing herself as a person capable of making mistakes that can be forgiven and her future as something attainable and not a desire unworthy of someone like her... and with that change in mindset does the distance between them close, the sun rise and our protagonist wake up once more from her dream once more, finally with a hopeful smile

Can we appreciate how detailed the art in this MV is? Typically the lineart is sacrificed in other anime but the lineart here feels crisp and detailed, its amazing.
It's just 3:48 , of course is going to look good ,they had plenty of time to make it. It's impossible to do this for an anime series. Takes to much time and money. Movies are the only place where you can have this quality cause they are only 1 to 2 hours and the budget is higher than a tv show.
I mean other mvs have a different style that embraces more loose art and i find them just as good but for different reasons? Like Waboku and Mah. This MV utilizes a production crew, in contrast which is why they’re able to do so much.

Just my own little understanding of such an amazing song:
Our protagonist lives each day with a relative amount of numbness to the world, seemingly living on some level of autopilot as she sees herself as an outsider compared to everyone else... then begins the daydream which I see as a manifestation of who she sees herself as now and the person she wants to become, with all the confidence and drive to go beyond the limit she had set for herself. The first attempt to reach her goal ends in failure, with the future her looking down for their throne/hill and the video making sure to show the sheer distance between them both before the daydream ends and what seems like the next day begins (the way it ties into the ending of a dream is pretty cool).
Having woken up and now remembering the dream, grasping the sheer distance between the present and future versions of herself, she stares into her room with a shocked, tearful expression before getting up and beginning the day again. I'd like to note a few of the lyrics: "Anyway, when you awaken to your dream, what will you see in your eyes?" - Reminds me of Dramaturgy's "...and the man, behind the curtain, appears. What do those eyes capture?" and the general idea of 'what are you looking/desiring for?' and how it helps rather well to relate with either song and impose your issues onto the MV, which in turn makes the lyrics emotional effect that more potent.
Anyway, walking through the city, her daydream soon begins once more after a few measures talking of (as I interpret) 'Only by going against the grain or pure aversion of the matter can the crippling distance be avoided' and how she'll fake her laughter once more and remain not complaining about any of it. The second daydream encounter is interesting in comparison to the first, with the 'present' her managing to close the distance and attempt an attack, despite it being counted so mockingly easy, talk of "Taking arms against the other" showing a strengthened resolve to take down the version of her that looks down upon all she is and stands for right now
The interlude-y bit that comes right after ties everything together really well so the next instance of the chorus has all the more emotional effect with understanding of the story so far. The talk of "Irritated with not lasting long, we looked down on others and laughed" and how without this coping method, her own heart would have been torn apart by sheer reality along with her belief of no one expecting anything from her lead well into "Back at that day, for no reason, there were eyes that looked straight ahead"
To me, it reads as a sombre acceptance of it all, an acceptance of her worries and the distance she has to cross that's needed before being able to lay a hand on the version of her she so desperately wants to reach... and with such an acceptance she manages to cause some damage in the third daydream encounter. The throne is gone, reality becomes the background and their clashes actually seem to show both of them on equal footing, with the 'future' version of her being shot through buildings and having to actually attack this time.
In the end, the crescent moon mask shatters and both step out of their alternate forms as the day breaks. In my own interpretation, I believe the end signifies her no longer vilifying her current self and deifying the person she wants to be, now seeing herself as a person capable of making mistakes that can be forgiven and her future as something attainable and not a desire unworthy of someone like her... and with that change in mindset does the distance between them close, the sun rise and our protagonist wake up once more from her dream once more, finally with a hopeful smile

Can we appreciate how detailed the art in this MV is? Typically the lineart is sacrificed in other anime but the lineart here feels crisp and detailed, its amazing.
It's just 3:48 , of course is going to look good ,they had plenty of time to make it. It's impossible to do this for an anime series. Takes to much time and money. Movies are the only place where you can have this quality cause they are only 1 to 2 hours and the budget is higher than a tv show.
