little things I noticed: 0:17 Sunao(his name) hangs up on Tobi 0:23 Sunao was born on March 29th 0:46 the fact that it's the 28th the day before he gets hit by a truck implies that he was hit on his birthday which is kinda funny lol. honorary mention to 1:14 for the awesome captions 1:24 the kanji 夜 is in a similar font to the one in "How To Eat Life", with a dot instead of a short line the actual kanji uses. something else I noticed about this: in "How To Eat Life", Tobi is running alongside the dragon as the "夜" kanji shows up. similarly, Sunao is running alongside his tall imaginary friend. hmmm. coincidence? 1:43 the stain on the ceiling looks a lot like the three-eyed imaginary friend 2:50 the stores in the background have the names of Eve's previous songs like pray, kokoron, fight song, etc. 3:10 story of Sunao's life, his dad abused him so big tall friend hung him 3:20 the other stores in the background from the same place as 2:50 have more names of Eve's previous songs, like last dance and avant there's the obvious similarity between 0:26, 1:45, and 3:29 Sunao opens his eyes at 0:19 and closes his eyes at 3:40 3:47 Tobi talks to Sunao (who is unwilling) about the imaginary guys (note that Sunao doesn't want to because he hung up on Tobi at the beginning.)
The MV shows how our childhood traumas affect ourselves today in the present. The things that might have helped us cope when we were kids during traumatic experiences, will somehow might haunt us in the future.
And having insomnia can drive people insane, not able to sleep during night and want to sleep where you suppose to do your daily routine like studies, working, maintaining relationship to even the simple thing you usually enjoy, while slowing degrading your psyche that could last for a lifetime.

However, the return to reality just after shows that it was only in the character's head and shows that he wants to kill but refrain to it. 2:15 > foreshadowing of the next events But most important : 3:08 > this part very quickly shows a lot of details about the character's backstory: first we see the "creature", a Zingai who appears to be Fuchi Sunao's imaginary friend. a drawing of the child protagonist is then shown which shows that he has parents (two figures which appear to be a father and a mother). however, in the drawing, the character does not hold their hand but holds that of the creature. The zingai, as shown in the image where he is seen hugging the character, is like a protector (surally a coping mechanism of the child) the character's father is then shown, he is an alcoholic (he is holding a bottle that appears to be alcohol in the first image), he is also abusive: he is shown throwing scalding hot water on his son, causing the marks that the character has burn marks on his face and body. after that, Fuchi Sunao's zingai seems, to the eyes of the child, to defend him: he attacks the father to protect the child. The Zingai strangles the father with his fingers, then he is shown as strangling him with wires. then the father is hanged by the creature. Interesting to note is that the protagonist is not showing us the best way what day is in. Like because of his lack of sleep all days are the same, so the incidents show first or later are confusing. Like the truck incident was cause by him? But he didn't remember because he dream about it, and when he start his day normally the truck incident happend and latter on was he stole the gun to the police after the events of where he shoot everyone. Like he show us that First dream about what happen that shit, later happen that he in real life shoot everybody, at the same time that the truck cause a accident on the streets and the police arrive, he get the gun IN THAT time. Not before. But I guess the real timeline is that he make the truck accident with the creature and later went to sleep and go walking sleeping too. Later the police arrive when he wakes up, get the gun and flees, and the switch of personality happens when he was in the street, his youngest self shoot everybody, the oldest want to stop it, and get under the truck. I love this details because this is why the protagonist is confused of what is happening, specially when the police arrive. The lack of sleep cause this confusing of timeline, like the brain don't process what you do during the day, so that's why he can't remember shit. And the hallucinations make it looks like his dreams too so is more difficult to know where he start to sleep or not, because he can't remember it Edit: all the mv is in March 28 (before his birthday on 29)
And when he thinks that he is dreaming is when the people had balloons instead of heads, so when he cause deaths and accidents he thinks he is dreaming, but he is not sure because of not remember when he start to sleep or not, because he sleeps in his dreams too. So he was trying not to kill in his job because he is not sure if he is dreaming or not to shoot that person.
For an animation studio Eve makes great music +giving my appreciation towards Mariyasu and the same team who also worked on the mv for fight song; got me screenshotting every frame😤
They're cool now, but youtube is always fiddling with it's UI, a few updates later and they'll break. It happened with an song I really liked called SHAMA, which had vertical and horizontal captioning. An youtube update broke it hard.

This seems like a spiritual successor to the "Rasion D'etre" mv, eve and his animators have done a fantastic job creating another incredible piece of art.
@@ElPavoPavil Especially when you think about that when he sees his life flashing before his eyes at 3:00 he remembers all that after his past self created the imaginary 3 eyed father figure to cope with the trauma of the abuse he recieved and lock those memories away ending up hugging his kid version to comfort him while at the same time seemingly accepting his past which leads to his "dreamworld" crumbling down starting at 3:15. Also I believe his mother died at birth or shortly after due to the frame at 3:08 where you see the drawing with his father being drawn clearly while his mother is blacked out maybe even being the reason for his fathers alcoholism and suicide which would make sense.
Not surprising. When you are making a program that is several hours long you have to dial the quality back a little bit to not blow the entire company's budget on one anime.
I ain't here to fight with you but this is a MV (which undoubtedly great) and animes are in a span of a series. So there will be times when an animation loses its quality and there are many reasons why. Perhaps the change of director, studio issues, or the animators quitting. There are still animes nowadays that can provide quality animation if you go out of the mainstream anime.
Okay, after (almost) 2 months of the release, I fear that its my favorite MV now. The storytelling and the scenes fitting the music so well (like the newspaper being crumpled at the *tatatata*) always gives me chills

淵素直くんの記憶の内容、 1:36 ここの夢の中でクリーピーパスタさんと談笑し笑っているシーンで一瞬見える痣から考えると日常的に父親から暴力を受けていたと考えられ、 3:09 ついに父親がクリーピーパスタさんの逆鱗に触れてしまい殺されてしまった。
幼い素直くんは仲の良い友人が父親を殺すところを目の当たりにして心に深い傷を負ってしまい(そういう状況になったのは自分のせいだと言った自己嫌悪に苛まれるなど)、
素直くんの事を大切に思っている(これはかなり都合のいい妄想)クリーピーパスタさんは素直くんの記憶から自分の存在や父親が死ぬ時の記憶を封じ、素直くんの視界から姿を消しつつも近くで見守り、夢の中でだけ一緒に過ごしていた。
しかし素直くんがバイト先の嫌な客の相手などの人間関係でストレスが溜まり健康状態が悪化すると、(他者の頭部が風船に見えるなど)現実の世界と夢の世界の境界が曖昧な状態に陥ってしまう。
0:40 首吊りを試みたり、 0:51 腹の立つ相手を撃つ想像をする事でフラストレーションをやり過ごす素直くんを見て、
このままじゃマズイと思ったクリーピーパスタさんは良かれと思って 1:07 夢の中で素直くんを暴れさせてあげようとするが、 1:53 ウッカリ肉体の方も連れ出してしまいカメラにも人の目にもバッチリ映らせてしまった上に、 1:24 2:26 自分も現実の車を暴走させてしまう。(無人運転)
2:31 ニュースで事件を知った素直くんの前に夢の中の幼い素直くんが現れ「これはお前がやったんだぞ」と明示し、現実の素直くんは幼い自分の姿をした訳の分からない存在のせいで人生が狂ってしまったと認識し、幼い自分と争う。
自分の過去を思い出しクリーピーパスタさんの術を解いた素直くんは、再び自分の前に現れた友人に対し、記憶を弄ったり姿を見せなくなったりなどのちょっとした仕返しとして撃つポーズをとる。
ひょっとするとクリーピーパスタさんは素直くんが死にそうになると自分の目を代償に素直くんが死ぬ運命を捻じ曲げて起死回生させる術をかけたのかも。

てか青年素直くんが幼少素直くんを抱きしめるまえまでは目が黄色で輝いていたのに一瞬だけ映った衝撃的な映像のあと（抱きしめた時）には目に光が宿ってないのがこの説を有力にさせてる
それとあくまで憶測だけど、１番のサビの部分（幼少素直くんの夢シーン）に「正しい世界で会えるといいね」ていう歌詞があって、それがクリーピーパスタさんとの約束だとしたら最後の部分で青年素直くんに自分の姿をみせて約束を叶えさせてあげてるんだと思う。

Not surprising. When you are making a program that is several hours long you have to dial the quality back a little bit to not blow the entire company's budget on one anime.
I ain't here to fight with you but this is a MV (which undoubtedly great) and animes are in a span of a series. So there will be times when an animation loses its quality and there are many reasons why. Perhaps the change of director, studio issues, or the animators quitting. There are still animes nowadays that can provide quality animation if you go out of the mainstream anime.
Woah there, I love this MV as much as the next guy but I wouldn’t say it’s better than most anime right now.

淵くんは統合失調症や複雑性PTSDなんだと思いました
物語として、淵くんの家系はならかの原因で父子家庭になって、それに耐えられなくなった父親は自暴自棄になり
淵くんへ虐待 3:09 →自殺
(その悲惨な記憶が複雑性PTSDの原因になってると思った)
そしてその記憶を絵に描いて、最後はクレヨンでぐちゃぐちゃに 3:12
→この記憶を消し去りたいと思っているからぐちゃぐちゃにした？
青年になった淵くんは、複雑性PTSDにより過去の記憶が蘇ってしまい、その生活に耐えられなくなる(鬱状態になる)
→統合失調症になってしまった
統合失調症になってしまった淵くんは人々の頭が風船にみえるようになる←そして動画中にある浮いた風船 2:15の淵くんの父親が首を吊ったときの表現だと思った
そして夢と現実が曖昧になり、このように淵くんだけが見る世界と現実という表現になっている
また統合失調症の特徴として
「みんなが悪口を言っている」
「誰かに監視されている」
と錯覚(幻覚、幻聴)するという特徴があるが、これは 1:12 で周りの人々が淵くんの事に対してしていることに当てはまっています
また、父親が自殺をした(させられた)ことからクリーピーパスタは苦しみから解放されたい気持ちの具現化という意味があるのではと考えました
クリーピーパスタが出ている場面では、 1:15 ここでうなだれている淵くんに対し抱き込み、その後に淵くんが暴れている描写があるが、これはクリーピーパスタが子供の淵くんに苦しみからの解放という意味で全てをぐちゃぐちゃにして苦しみから逃れようという表現になっていると考えました
→それでも現実は甘くなく、そんなクリーピーパスタ(苦しみからの解放)は青年になるにつれて遠のいていき、青年の淵くんは統合失調症や不眠症、鬱状態により子供の頃とは違い心から笑えなくなる。そして淵くんは苦しみから逃れたい気持ちで溢れる
→クリーピーパスタに記憶を思い出させるために連れ出され 1:55 記憶を思い出した淵くんは暴走してしまう 2:14
そして警察に追われ、もう苦しみから解放されたいという気持ち(子供の時の淵くん)と理性(今の淵くん)が争い合い、 2:50 無人のトラック(クリーピーパスタ)2:59 から跳ねられるも、昔の淵くん(過去の記憶)をの時1:16と同じ構図で抱え込み 3:12、涙するほどうなされた 3:19 が、過去の記憶と向き合い、苦しみを背負って生きていくと決めた
→クリーピーパスタ(苦しみからの解放)に向けて銃を向けている 3:25 のは苦しみの解放から逃れ、背負って生きていくと決めたためクリーピーパスタから離れる＝銃を向けたという構図になっているのではと思いました
追記です
この動画の時間軸を見ていたら最初の部分は3月28日0;46で、症状の診断をしているとき1:59に明るくなっている事から一日経っていると分かります。そしてそうなると3月29日になるのですが、淵くんの誕生日は3月29日だから、二日目の出来事は誕生日に起きているとわかります。そしてクリーピーパスタはファイトソングにて「未成年は彼には勝てない」と説明されていて、淵くんは未成年だった17歳から成人して18歳となり、クリーピーパスタという苦しみの対象から抜け出す事が出来たのでは無いかと考察しました。
長文で語彙力もないのですが、是非共感して貰えたら嬉しいです
統合失調症の患者の者です。
統合失調症になるとほとんどの場合不眠症を併発します。その時の夢と現実が曖昧になっていく感覚がこのMVには実によく表現されていると思いました。
私自身、別に信じてもらわなくても構いませんが、妄想と幻覚の中で錯乱して家の2階から飛び降り、両足の踵を粉砕骨折してしまいました(現在では完治しています)。統合失調症になると、自他共に何をするか、何が起こるか分からないというのはあると思います。
その奇天烈な状況を傍観者は笑うこともできますが、当事者としてはいつ犯罪を犯すか分からない、いつ自分の命を危険に晒すか分からないというヒリヒリした焦燥感はなかなか理解されないものだと思います。
そんな風に物事の境界線が曖昧になり、時に重大なインシデントを引き起こしてしまう様がこのMVにはよく表れていると思います。
ただ私自身、映像作品としてもこの「インソムニア」をとても面白く観ることができました。
こうしたポップカルチャーを通して、精神疾患の病状の理解が進むのはとても良いことだと感じます。
