- When you feed your pet, do you know what's in their food? On some packages of dog food, there are pictures of beautiful cuts of beef and chicken. When Inside Edition asked shoppers what they thought the food was, they all said they believed it was chicken, but they were wrong. The chicken "flavored" dog food is from "meal," which is made from powdered parts of the chicken or cow that humans do not eat. While it can be nutritious for pets, there are no chunks of meat in their dinner. #InsideEdition

Look at it this way. I for one would love to supply myself with a complete and balanced meal for $45-65 per month (or longer). It may be expensive but you pay for quality, same as anything in life.
You can live off the dollar menu, but you'll probably be overweight and have other health problems than if you were eating real meat, veggies and vitamins your body can actually use.

The food my dog eats, and he's a big dog, fills him up with a cup and 1/2 a day and doesn't make him sick. He's energetic too so as long as the dog food isn't killing him I don't care what's in it

The best dog food is homemade. Store bought pet food has a lot of added fillers such as meal and grain. Make your own pet food or feed them raw and that's honestly the best thing you can give your dog.

when I buy food for my pup I look for stuff like real meat as #1ingredient.any one looking for a good food for a lab or a golden retriever should try Purina one.this is not trying to tell you how to feed your dog,it is just suggesting a good food

Unfortunately I have to agree that this brand is awful. It got my dog sick and has killed other dogs because of the chemical ingredients. I you Iams now and have had no issues.

I have 3 Labrador’s and we feed them Purina. We used to feed them Iam’s but then it got my chocolate lab really sick so we had to switch her food. After iams, we switched it to Purina and they were all fine.

Chicken meal is actually perfectly fine in dog foods. Meal means the meat has had all the bone taken out and water taken out. It's easier to pack more protein in the kibble. If fresh chicken is the first ingredient, you paying the weight of moisture and bone.

When i see dog food i thought it was made out of dog 😐
This does not apply to my dog and probably many others. My dog has diatry problems and here in Australia we take that quite seriously, If she eats any form of meat or rice she will throw up so she gets 100% organic, Vegetarian food and she loves it!

I used to buy my dog $70 dog food, but unfortunately she is allergic to that specific brand or ingredients. I also tried Royal Canin and she didn't eat it. So I just feed my dog real chicken and steak since she super stubborn and cute :)

I feed my dog Kibbles and Bits, but i also mix in about a quarter can of Nutro wet dog food ((Chunks in Gravy, not that loaf stuff)) which has a lot of healthy ingredients. Trust me, when I had to put her on a wet food diet, i looked at a lot of different wet food brands before finding one she both liked and was good for her. A lot of companies like using animal-by-products in their food which is nasty because that's parts of the animals which is unfit for human consumption AND animals that died other by slaughter.

We really needed print and labeling expert Ruth Siawhatnow to tell us that the font was unreadable, something we can all observe. Furthermore, it was very clarifying to hear that it was unreadable, in fact, because of the height, width, and spacing of the font! Who could have guessed! The size of the font is related to its readability! My mind is already blown, but her final remarks of "I would make it larger, they should see it." were so clearly precisely worded for such an extremely field-specific, and inaccessible concept, that my brain quite literally exploded all over my monitor when I heard it! A+

If you can't read it than there is probably not good ingredients. I use Blue Buffalo it's all real meat ingredients.

I was told to go by the 1st ingredient listed for example the ingredient was beef labeled 1st that would be the main ingredient. If the 1st ingredient is some sort of chicken meal that is the main ingredient.
I use Fromm for my dogs, and they love it. I think it’s chicken but my dogs eat it all the time! They’re a pit bull yellow lab mix and a German Shepherd btw

Honestly, my dog barely eats her dog food. Usually she will eat liver or white chicken. (NO SALT OR FLAVORING) After we started giving her table scraps during dinner, she got used to human food. Stopped eating her dog food. We took her to the vet and found out she was malnourished. We were told to give her wet dog food at least 2 times a week, dry food, white chicken, and liver. Now, she weighs a healthy 10 pounds for her breed!
NEVER, give your dog table scraps. If your dog stops eating dog food, take them to the vet.

my dog had a tumor like thing in her eye we thought it was just something wrong with her but the vet recommended we change her food and it went away three weeks later
I feed my 11 year old pug science diet, and considering his breed, age, and everything he's been through surgery wise on top of that, he is a very healthy dog. It's a good food for breeds with more sensitive stomachs as well.

Science diet is great for small breeds or any with sensitive stomaches, look it up. You dont feed a pug or certain small dogs certain brands, if the food is too rich they cant handle it

Freshpet is really good but expensive, I strongly recommend Canidae! my dog is 19 and I have fed my little Casper it since I got him at 8 weeks old

My parents use Freshpet with hard food. They also sometimes make their own food by buying real chicken and cooking it with veggies.
