    Hello, I have noticed that you do not add neither oil nor butter in both white and black forest recipes, did you forget or it should be like that? Your cakes look yummy and am definitely trying the recipes.

      hi, Thank you.
      there are different types of sponge cakes, this particular one is more of a mattress sponge cake and it uses no butter. the eggs are the biggest contributor to the fluff.

      hi, there are different types of sponge cakes, this particular one is more of a mattress sponge cake and it uses no butter. the eggs are the biggest contributor to the fluff.

    Tried this recipe twice..texture is fine but it always tastes and smells like eggs😭😭I added 1 teaspoon on vanilla essence to the batter the second time and it still smells and tastes like eggs. What could be wrong?

      Add just 4 eggs and try ..

      You need to whip your eggs some more. The eggy smell will not be there.

      They have made this cake like Japanese cake and named White forest cake as they have grated a lot of white chocolate on top

      I don't add the flavour to the cake, I just add it to the simple syrup so as not to be too strong. If you must add, use 1 teaspoon per kilo, add it after adding the sugar.

      Hi, you can dilute the simple syrup in order to reduce the sugar. For example 1 cup sugar to 2 cups water.

      I guess it's because there's no butter or oil in the recipe. So the eggs are the main contributor to the spongy cake
