Man I can’t wait to have the money to get the Bible I want and to start collecting altogether. I’m asking God to keep me diligent in sowing my finances into things that align with his purpose for my life. Getting better at giving back whats already his in my tithes and offering is getting better. He has blessed me more than I could ever return. If you all could pray for me that’ll be a blessing as I pray for all believers and unbelievers alike.
Thank you Sir. I'm shopping for a NKJV. My nasb is falling apart. Most of the people in the places I'm preaching in have nkjv so I'm switching. In shopping around I've become very interested in collecting different ones that I like. I would have never thought of collecting Bibles, but it seems to be a fun thing to do for me. I think you can relate. Thank you!
Thanks Tim for sharing you favorite NKJv Bibles. Great review. I too love the NKJV Bible. I was a big NASB for years but my wife encouraged me to read a NKJV Bible and that is all she wrote after that! I still love the NASB but my favorite and go-to Bible is the NKJV.
I'm normally KJV, but I really love the Maclaren NKJV Large print reference leather soft Bible. Those teal blue accents are gorgeous, and I love the fact it is black letter. Might consider getting a copy rebound with a really nice leather
I bought the NKJV SCR after you talking about it and it has been such a blessing. While it has been my favorite premium Bible, I don’t think anything will ever replace my Genuine Leather ESV Study Bible. I have actually messaged ICA about getting it rebound! Hoping to do it soon!
Fabulous video! 😊😀 Thanks Tim. I’ve got 3 of your top 5 including your No 1 in the navy goatskin - agree it’s great though it has not replaced the SCR brown goatskin for me. The NKJV is my fav translation (together with the NASB 77). Looking at that first Allan bible shows how todays bibles are so much more readable and better laid out. My dream would be a tour of Philip Nation’s library! 😂
Great video! Thanks for doing this. I’m praying about the upcoming Humble Lamb preorder for the Shepherd NKJV. Non-emergent purchases have been on hold for awhile now, BUT I want to celebrate one-year of my cancer being stable, and I have wanted a Humble Lamb since they had their original kick-starter campaign. This video was very helpful. Blessings, Linda
I have your number one in green ...it's wonderful And definitely a premier quality bible ..the goat skin n 36 gsm European paper n 11 point font are superb ! Good call Tim
A Bible Design Nerd - after my own heart. I agree the design of a good Bible makes for better study for some reason. NKJV is my fav version as well. I have 4 different ones I rotate between. 👍🏼
I was 22 in 1982 when the NKJV Bible translation was released. It and the NASB 77 weren't favorite modern bible translations, back in the day. Necessity led me to use the ESV instead of the NASB 77, so I use the ESV and NKJV translations together. I have a premium cover KJV and ESV, but not the NKJV. Thanks for giving me a few options to choose from. I prefer using notebooks to writing in my bibles, so the wide margin bibles don't grab me. But, I think most people would use a wide margin bible.
All of these look wonderful, but I'm very happy with my NKJV single column reference in black goatskin. I don't think I'll ever need another if this one holds out, although it's probably not optimal for preaching or teaching. The size though is just perfect. I'm going to have to donate some of the Bibles I've accumulated over the years to missions.
I just received the green goatskin limited edition you mentioned, and I love it! It feels great in the hands, and the text/layout is easy on the eyes. It does have a good weight to it compared to another thinline I have, something to consider if portability is your goal. For me this is a perfect daily reader.
Ironically, Last Week I bought NKJV Thomas Nelson Single Column Reference Bible and the Large Print ThinLine Reference Bible from EV Bibles. Mostly because it's got thicker paper than others. I also have the Humble Lamb Sheppard (Which I saw they have another release of them coming), That is my personal favorite, the text block is unbeatable and the text doesn't go into the gutter.
I love the NKJV and have the brown goatskin SCR and the blue paste down Humble Lamb. I also have the Holman, but in the tan leathertouch. Yesterday, I received the large print thinline reference in green goatskin. Would love the blue (my favourite colour) but difficult to get now as it was limited edition and quite expensive now here in the UK.
I purchased a Thomas Nelson single column reference Bible. The leather was amazing. The layout was nice, and the paper was quite opaque. Two problems, though: 1) The font was listed as 10.5, but seemed more like 9.5 -- 10.0 at best. I've read other people complaining about Thomas Nelson font being smaller than advertised. And I have another older Thomas Nelson comfort print 10.5 font which is definitely bigger than the SCR. 2) The paper is reflective under light. I can't say it's more reflective than most Bibles, but it was notably reflective under a reading lamp at night compared to the premium Bibles I already have. This may not bother some people, but was a deal-breaker for me because it created reading fatigue.
Hello Thanks for posting your videos. I have some questions, if that's okay. 1. Which denomination are you sympathetic with, and why? 2. What Bible dictionary would you recomend? 3. What Bible commentary would you suggest. Respectfully Thomas
I’m glad your #5 and #1 made it! I started with the #5 layout as a B&H thinline and a (now out of print) Thomas Nelson wide margin. And honestly, I think it’s still my favorite NKJV layout. It was actually a Thomas Nelson layout that they licensed to B&H, and then on to Allan. I tried replacing it with your #1 layout, the brown “Omega killer,” but I found it too heavy so I actually just gave it away. Thanks for sharing! ✌️🤓
My wife spoiled me with the limited-ed. green NKJV LPUT for Valentine’s Day. It’s a red-letter edition, but it’s beautifully done and a genuine joy to read! I’ve never been an NKJV guy, but this LPUT may have just won me over!
I am a pastor. I preach using a NKJV. My wife recently got me a new Bible and I really like it. But I have never found a Bible that checks every box that I want. There’s always something lacking! I would pay premium price to find one exactly the way I like it but the Bible I have now is extremely nice and I’m not complaining, but the Bible I have Does not have the words of Christ in red and I like that… (I don’t need that) I know when it’s Christ speaking, but it’s still something that I like. Like I said there’s always something.
Have you checked out the Thomas Nelson limited edition in the green goatskin? It’s the next on my list to get. I have the TN wide margin verse by verse and love it! The green one is a more portable version of the same & yes! both are red letter. (I prefer that too 😉).
I love the large print thin line! Definitely my favourite. I just wish Thomas Nelson would put out a wide margin that was all black text and not red letter. Some really nice bibles, but I find the red letter hard to read.
I have just added the Humble Lion Bible to my collection. I wanted to find your number 1 but didn't realize it was limited. I ended up getting their green limited one.
I love the Cambridge Topaz Navy Blue goat skin! I wish that Allan would produce the NJKV, I have several Allan’s and I love them but the Topaz is great as well.
Now, I would’ve loved to watch a tour review with Philip Nation and his bookshelf! 😍 the scr and scr wide margin are very nice bibles. If Humble Lamb takes out all those badly printed squeaky lined pictures, it would be better.
One I would put in for my top 5 in NKJV is the maclaren in brown leather soft. I absolutely love the blue accents. Now if they could add blue letter for words of Christ. This bible makes me look forward to bible time.
Hey Tim! And everyone! I’m excited because I just started a my own “Bible Reviewing page” and if you have time I would appreciate any support & feedback! (Either way, hope you guys have an awesome day 😁)
For a bible video, surprisingly little time was spent showcasing the bibles themselves for the viewers. Also, chapters would be nice. Otherwise great collection, and I'll definetely checking these out for my next bible purchase. cheers
Tim, may i ask who published the green wide margin please? Do you know of any wide margin verse by verse layout? I so wish i could find that. Thank you
Thank you for sharing Tim! We recently moved from a NIV church to a NKJV church and thanks to the "other" Tim I have the Green Thinline along with the SCR, Maclaren and Topaz ... but there is something special about that Thomas Nelson Thinline layout to make it my EDC. 📖🙂👍
Hi Tim, I'm currently torn between a full read-through of either the NKJV or NIV, having read the ESV before. What would you say your favourite translation is currently please?
Do you think the NKJV Deluxe thinline is worth buying and having it rebound or finding a premium bible that’s already done? I want around 7-8 inches because I already have the Premiere ones.
Would you know why there aren’t any NKJV bibles with the Aprocrypha? I’ve seen two OOP NKJV w/A on eBay for $350 and $400, so do they seem have existed.
Does the thinline Bible have thinner pages. I would be interested in that, but I'm afraid I'd have a hard time turning pages back and forth while I'm preaching. You know what I mean bro? Thicker pages work better for me.
@ Tim...Hi Tim great video. I love the NKJV. QUESTION: I have a 1983 NKJV Open Bible that is literally falling apart. I have had it for about 40 years. Is there anywhere I can get a version of this copy anywhere? Not sure the newer Open Bibles are quite the same. Any help would be great. Thanks!
@@timwildsmith Thanks. That's kind of what I thought. Do you know anything about the newest version of it? I don't hear much about the Open Bible. I guess it's not popular.
You lost me at not Schuyler 😂 or Cambridge. Rebinds are anywhere from 350- 1200 depends on what you put for options so that’s definitely one thing I’ll never get.
Tim, can you review KJV Bibles too in the near future? Maybe you already have and I missed it?🤔 My new Bible is a beautiful purple KJV by Tyndale House Publishers I found at books a million. It is my favorite 2 column design and it's verse by verse just like I wanted. I only wish it measured 8x5 though. I like this Bible more than my Schuyler Treveris which is in book format and which I found out after purchasing one that I'm not a fan of it.
I don't use the NKJV as much as other translations, but I have an imitation leather Open Bible that I enjoy and a black goatskin Pitt Minion that may find its way into the hands of a dear TR-only brother or sister.
Amazing coincidence! I also have those two exact Bibles. I particularly like my Pitt Minion, but my eyes aren't what they once were (sigh), and my Open Bible has definitely seen better days. Recently, I purchased the Thomas Nelson NKJV Personal Size Large Print Reference Bible with end-of-verse cross references and 10.5 Comfort Print font after seeing its review on Tim Nichols' channel. I bought the inexpensive dark blue leathersoft version, so it is the cheapest Bible I have ever purchased. Ironically, it has become my favorite NKJV. Go figure. Thomas Nelson has really been hitting it out of the park these last few years.
Love what Humble Lamb is doing I own the NKJV and the KJV from them they are also about to release a Bible cover named the Humble Shield I believe cant wait to see what that will look like.
I wish Humble Lamb had a double-column NKJV with a lion. This would be my “the one.” Any chance they’d customize one like this? It never hurts to ask. lol.
I just wish I could get my head around why everyone but Allan just can’t get art gilding right. I mean just LOOK at that Allan!! THAT is how art gilt should be done. So then I see these TNs, Cambridges and to a lesser extent even Schuyler and their anemic art gildings and I just can’t understand it. The bible is a book written by men who never even met the people they wrote about (many many years after). It is also heavily edited by a church that had a power and politics agenda, eliminating a number of chapters. In addition, there isn't just one Christian bible - there are at least three with different numbers of chapters. There exists no provable, fact-based evidence to support any of the supernatural (spiritual) events in it. Thus, it is pure human belief - a human emotion and dependent on as many human thoughts as there are humans. To believe without factual evidence is like saying a court case should be determined by only hearsay or a feeling. It's hard to think God wouldn't hold humans to a standard that they hold themselves
