Thank you for your honest review. I am so excited for this Bible, the Catholic church does not do great bibles. What I usually do is get a protestant premium bible and then supplement it with my Catholic resources. I can hardly wait to get my hands on this great first premium Catholic Bible.
Thanks for making this! I just got my Great Adventure Bible last year, so I’m a little upset I missed the mark on this, but I’m glad others get to enjoy these improvements! And of course the goatskin leather edition, very nice. God bless you for reviewing Catholic bibles! Hope to see more in the future.
I can't believe what I'm seeing! My favorite bible, in my favorite translation, improved by 2K Denmark, and bound in goatskin? After years of thinking it would never happen, I think I've finally found "the one."
I have the original Great Adventure bible, and I love it. EXCEPT -- the Bible in a Year podcast usually has three readings a day, and the original GA Bible only had two ribbons. Glad to see they put three in now, whether I end up getting one or not.
Wow!! So cool! This looks amazing. I can’t believe we finally have a premium Bible that we don’t have to spend hundreds of extra dollars on to make premium. Funny thing is though, that most of us Catholics won’t understand what a premium bible is.
This is literally the Bible I have been waiting for all my life. Aboslultey love it! I wish I would have knows about the early pre-orders. Definitely picking this one up!
Really helpful review and demonstration. You do us a great favor Pastor Tim. Thankyou God bless you in your ministry and Happy Thanksgiving🎉!!. Fr. Bob.😊
Episcopalian here -- love this new edition. I had a friend gift one to me in Premium and Oh My Goodness, It is amazing. I had a first edition but this is just on another level. I ordered a leather like Catechism to use with it. I am so excited to use this beautiful Bible along with my NRSVue in Premium as well.
thank you for doing this, I've been dreaming of something like this, the orriginal one was kind of meh to me on terms of aesthetics but never realize how useful it is until I saw this video.... as a Catholic this bumps up the list of Bibles I wanted to get now that it has a premium version ...
Love it and just ordered one. Id love it if they came out with different colors of leather to choose from but i find that unlikely to happen especially anytime soon. maybe they will make a premium version of their catechism
Thanks for this Tim! I was hoping you could do one on Catholic Bible Press' new RSV2CE they just released? I'd love your in depth review before deciding.
Loved the review! So excited about a premium Catholic Bible. I didn't get the Great Adventure Bible because it did seem a little cheap to me, but now this is going to be available I am very excited about it! Also, I received my copy of the Ignatius Catholic Study Bible Old and New Testament just yesterday. It is a big bible! I was wondering if you will be able and willing to do a review of it if you get a copy.
I wish they'd advertised this more! It looks great. I like the brown much more than the blue, and the original could've used another ribbon, especially since the Great Adventure reading plan typically has three daily readings per day.
Gorgeous Bible to start with for new readers. But, in my humble opinion, give me a cheap Douay Rheims translation over the fancy bells and whistles. Thanks for the review!
I have the old Blue Version of the Great Adventure Bible (GAB) and I love ❤it. I already have own 3 Bibles in English and 2 Spanish Bibles cannot justify another one. I also think $124 is a lot of $$ 💰 for a Bible. So no more Bibles for me. With that said I still think the new edition to GAB is beautiful and totally understand that its a premium Bible and its priced at $124 for that reason.
Can anyone elaborate on the "split liner" comment at 1:23? I see that there is a separation, but I can't find more information online. I'm mainly wondering how that might affect durability/longevity.
Hello Tim, thank you again I do hope to get this Bible. I just saw someone "show " the new Ignatius Study Bible however did not review it so can't really see it. Told us a bit about it as Daubie books who appears to study bibles as an English major maybe. I'd love to see you do a review; hope your copy is on the way.
Tim, do you happen to know if the content is any different than the blue version. I got the blue one about 6-7 months ago and now they come out with this beauty! If they are the same then I probably don’t need to spend the money but I keep looking at it! I know the paper (40gsm) is the same. I asked Ascension but they never got back to me. I did check out the new Ignatius Press Old and New Testament and I ordered that one. Let me know…. Thanks for all the reviews.
I got an email of this second edition and was wondering what could the premium version possibly contain that merits almost double the price of the original. Welp! Now I know. Thanks you for this video. I want it!
$125 is surprisingly affordable for a premium goatskin leather Bible. But I already have my blue one. Perhaps it will eventually show up at a discount on Christianbook, or even in their “slightly imperfect” section. (I have bought several slightly imperfect bibles from them, and still haven’t found the imperfections.). Have you reviewed the new Ignatius study Bible OT/NT yet?
I only wish they didn’t have the cheesy cover “great adventure” stamp in the leather and the teen bible color coding and layout internally. It’s a great bible reading system but feels like a teen bible for someone with a mortgage. We need this for the new Ignatius Scott Hahn Study Bible.
I think it's a good call to add the color coding. Especially as the company has a matching coded catechism. Also most Catholics grew up not reading the Bible at all. In fact, my mother remembers being told NOT to read the Bible in order to not put her own interpretation on it. Now it wasn't said to my mother specifically, mind you, but to the class as a whole at her very Catholic highschool.
Just wanted to ask, doesn't the ESV-CE Cornerstone from Cambridge also qualify as a premium catholic bible? I've heard the cornerstone is sadly not on par with the protestant editions of the ESV, but I've heard that it's still a premium bible.
@@anickelsworthbiblereviews A follow up then, would you say the NRSVCE illustrated cowhide bible is premium? I’ve heard it’s extremely well made for a Catholic bible.
As a Catholic, I'm honnestly extremely disappointed with the great adventure Bible. I had very high hopes, but when I turned to Isaiah, the introduction said that most of it wasn't written by Isaiah. Then in panic I went to Daniel and saw to my horror that it espoused the liberal view that it's "pious fiction" (which is a nice way of saying propaganda) from the second century BC without giving any motivation as to why this would be the case. Knowing that the second century hypothesis is based on archeological gaps that were already mostly filled in by the 20th century, and the claim that the prophesies are too accurate (I mean, it's straight from God, of course it's accurate!), that is just indefensible for me. I haven't bothered reading it since and actually regret spending money on it. If you want the RSV2CE, there's the Ignatius Bible. I'd recommend just getting that rebound instead tbh. Of course, if none of that bothers you, I'm sure this will be a fine Bible.
I haven't read the nonpremium editions. I'd like to hear what Tim has to say. Are you saying that there are commentaries in it stating these things? I would like a beautiful premium or even non premium Catholic bible. I'm visual so nice cover, color options and prefer red letter.
This is unfortunately the case with most Catholic study notes. It boggles my mind that these scholars seem to think that God is incapable of seeing the future, so that events foretold by the prophets “must have been” written later in retrospect. Shameful.
@@anickelsworthbiblereviews we don’t have the autographs, so Everything, including the KJV are copies of those books. Thank God for the different Scribal schools that had excellent methods for precise copying of the scriptures.
Why why why did they cheapen a premium bible by stamping a big logo on something that is a luxury item. They keep putting their marketing as the most important thing. Every catholic who has these bibles with the debossed logo wish they could buy it without that!!! Such a disappointment. They just couldnt help themselves.

What is this new trend of biblical Christians not just reviewing Catholic Bibles, but then not stating the differences in the books included and in the unbiblical teachings of the Catholic Church? Why are we treating it as just another denomination? The Catholic Church does not teach the biblical gospel. If I had remained Catholic, I would be dead and in Hell. (I say "dead" because there is no way I could've survived the things I've been through in recent years, apart from Christ's salvation and help.) Again, Catholicism is not just another denomination! Catholics need the GOSPEL!
