  • The postwar Finnish Defense Forces created both the m/27-66 and the m/28-76 to solve the same problems - shortages of target and sniper rifles during the Cold War. While the FDF held hundreds of m/39-43 sniper rifles in reserve, these were over 20 years old by the 1960s and beginning to show their age. These two rifles collectively represent the penultimate development of the Mosin-Nagant in Finnish service prior to the adoption of the Tkiv-85 during the mid1980s. This video attempts to show some of the differences between the two designs, which at first glance are very similar.

Excellent video! I'm just beginning to regret I didn't pick up an m/28-76 back when I had a few opportunities. I have never seen the m/27-66 in person.
