@@CunnyRape a) It's not a life sentence. It's an undetermined one, meaning that he could be released at any point after ten years, as long as he has been rehabiliated. It could be a life sentence... but it could also be thirty years. Because of how extreme his actions were, I imagine no one wants to sign off on his release. However, other people with the same sentence can end up serving a decade. Usually, prisoners who get that sentence will be released once they've been rehabilitated, so I think, for the majority, they might as well just prepare for their eventual release. Breivik isn't most people though, so he should probably get comfortable. b) Not every prison is Halden. Of course, when you google, that's what you'll see... but that's like the highest possible standard. Just yesterday, I watched a tour of a prison where the conditions were quite bad. They had to keep the prisoners locked in their cells most of the time, because there was too little space, so it would've been a safety issue to let them out. They have these small cages that they can stand in for an hour if they want to be outside, but it's so depressing that no one wants to. Some prisoners can go out in outside area without the cages, but that area is more like a small, grey alley. I also read an article a year or two ago, where they showed how bad it was inside a women's prison. I don't remember exactly how it was, other than that they had to cramp several people into each cell, and they weren't huge cells either. Generally speaking, the standard is good, and the effectiveness overall is superb (we have the best rehabilitation results in the entire world!). However, not every prison is like Halden. There are some pretty bad ones out there. I remember another documentary were the inmate talked about his issues, and how, instead of getting help, he was locked in a tiny cell for 23 hours every single day, and then he'd be allowed to go outside where he had a very small area to walk back and forth in, alone, for an hour. That was his prison life.
@@cryptosamet3536 According to a psychologist who evaluated him, the answer is yes. They always evaluate them before they decide whether to release them. You may have your own thoughts on his rehabilitation, but you also probably have never spoken to him, and most likely, you also don't have the qualifications to evaluate prisoners and determine their mental state. That said, as far as the murder goes... The evidence wasn't exactly foolproof. I have no idea whether he actually killed someone, but he shouldn't have been charged with murder. They didn't find anything that could remove all reasonable doubt. Enough to make him a person of interest, but not enough to charge with murder and sentence to two decades. All they found were evidence that said "it's possible...", But they never found any of those "oh yeah, this is the guy". Not that this is any excuse but his Wikipedia page goes into great lengths about his highly disturbing childhood. Even psychiatrists and psychologists wanted him put into foster care. I know the vast majority of people with bad childhoods don't do what he did but can we really expect that absolutely no-one will do what he did with that kind of upbringing? Statistically, if you ignore the plights of every child in a highly disfunctional family, aren't you one day setting yourself up for something like this? Someone will eventually arise who sees this type of thing (what Breivik did) as a kind of redemption for the society that allowed him to be raised by such bad people, a sort of "evening of the score". It's just statistically inevitable.
Stop promoting what he did so far. I had a terrible childhood but i would never do that, it’s up to you. No need to symphatize it, he choose it and he did it his background story means NOTHING.
Ever heard of moral compass. While he might have had a bad childhood, others did too. It’s up to us as people, as we grow up, to either learn from it or revel in it. I’m not saying this to spite anyone, especially those who are currently being abused in their households - it’s just that life is not easy, it’s every person for themselves even if we are social beings.
@@fatbingsu1803 That sounds a bit like you're an apologist for a society that turns its back on children who suffer in these highly dysfunctional families.
@@ReturnOfTheJ.D. does it sound like that? I’m sorry I didn’t mean to offend anyone nor am I an apologist for these kinds of people. I don’t really know how to word it properly. @@fatbingsu1803 I would say you're right were it not for professionals in the field of child psychology and abuse saying he should have been removed from the care of at least one if not both of his parents. You are also saying that multiple professional opinions as trained professionals (and before the 2011 mass slayings) were unimportant or irrelevant, and do not indicate any failure of the community to act to prevent undue harm to children within certain families.

It's life in prison, but Norwegian prisons are practically hotels.
@@christopher399 is Viggo Kristiansen rehabilitated ??
