Great stories, Big Steve. D.C. loves the Dead..so many great hot, humid RFK Stadium shows. The photo of You with Bobby holding court late night in the White House press room is classic. And RIP Phil.. his bass shook RFK many a night and we all loved him. God Bless.⚡
I actually met Jimmy Carter when he was running for President in 1976, he came to my High School in New Hampshire. We had a lot of candidates come through, even Ronnie Reagan. Sounds like you guys had a better time than I did with Jimmy. BTW Happy 100th Birthday the other day to Mr. Carter. Thanks for the way cool story Big Steve.
I was friends with Gregg Allman & he told me that he & Butch smoked a joint with Jimmy Carter at the governor's house in Ga...The Allman Brothers helped Jimmy Carter win the Presidency with there concerts & contributions going toward his campaign..Oh, the good ol dayz.🍄
Show sounded great today. You inspired me to do in Bill Walton’s words… Do good be good do better. I when to Costco bought water canned soup and diapers. Took it to local church that will take a 18 wheeler to carolinas

Jimmy Carter’s first supporter’s and good friends were all of the Allman Brothers Band, of course from the President’s own Georgia❣️ Happy 100th Birthday to our Coolest President Ever❣️🎈🎁🎉🎂❤ My 1st I ever got to Vote for 1976❣️❣️
I met Al gore in 2000? He was campaigning in Dearborn Michigan , I shook his hand on a small patch of grass between Oxford lanes bowling alley and White Castle . I had on a Grateful Dead shirt and was freshly baked . I had just came back from buying weed in Detroit . I wish I had a picture of it .
😅this is hilarious....you gave each other speeches! Lol😢 too funny. Hopefully we can get an actual artist in the White House one day....Thank you Steve. Love you guys.
LETS WRITE A TRIBUTE SONG TO THA DEAD AND ROCK N ROLL MUSIC IN AMERICA STEVE EITHER WAY YES OR NO I LOVE THA DEAD MY DAM TEXTER JAMMED UP MAN BUT YEA ONLY RESPECT AND LOVE MAN
Went to many shows at RFK. I remember the venue being very bouncy. I remember walking through a tunnel from the parking lot to the venue and hearing moo's while in the tunnel. I also remember the band rehearsing Casey Jones and breaking it out for the first time in years. In 2024 DC is s cesspool. Maybe Steve hasn't gone there in a while....
We was hitting it pretty hard in nyc 2 days before the Hampton show in 86, left the city around 2 in the morning blazing. Next thing you know we’re in rush hour traffic in DC surrounded by federal issue fords. Time to freak out ! Had to pull off the 95 and hide for a few hours in the back of a seven eleven. The fact that we were in a micro bus only added to the paranoia . Hooked up with big George from Hampton and everything was just fine. Sure do miss big George…
Where they there in 76 to play for the bicentennial. The United States Information Agency had the band play a US blues and and an instrumental song if I’m not mistaken. Very interesting vidio for US blues put out by the agency.
Steve, I want to ask so many questions like 2 hours…. I got some good ones… or point to who can answer them. Thank You for your telling about you delivered pig’s organ to the house, he had at least been able to see a kind friend, but soon passed. He wasn’t totally alone. Johnathan
Does that mean the Vice President lives in an old decrepit lighthouse? Tell us more about it. Another thing Big Steve: Everybody knows, deadhead or not, that voting is just another form of blackmail. Why you trying to tell people what to do. Anyway other than assumptions you decided to force upon not just me, but the rest of your audience, I really liked this number. Namaste
Sorry to call you on this Steve but that pic of Bobby and Micky is not 1986..neither one of them had pony tails in the summer of 86..plus that is Bobby's Gibson hes carryinghe was playing the modular in 86.that pic is somewhere in the early 70s..plus look how young they are..suprised you didn't notice those details 😅
I would have liked to hear the story about the incident backstage at RFK in June of 1973. From what I’ve heard, one of the ABB road crew punched a guy in the face backstage, which is something they were infamous for doing, only to then find out the guy who was punched was actually the president of Capricorn Records, which was the ABB record label at the time. What they also didn’t know was that they guy was a martial arts expert and proceeded to kick the shit out of the roadie, which turned into a huge melee. That’s what I’ve heard about it. I don’t know how accurate that actually is, but it sounds plausible. How about it Steve? Did you witness that incident? I think I also heard that you and Ramrod broke it up. You’ve gotta tell that story sometime. Perhaps you already have and I missed it. I have about a million questions. If I ever met you, I’d talk your ear off. Many of the places you describe in NorCal I’m actually familiar with because I lived up in Arcata for years and explored a lot of the places down in the Bay Area, like Stinson Beach and Mill Valley. I didn’t bother to go to Bolinas because I’ve heard they don’t like outsiders passing through. Spent a lot of time in the zone though. Smells like eucalyptus. lol
Thanks for the great stories Big Steve!😊

I believe in the separation of church (Grateful Dead music) and state (politics). They should not mix. One’s a real path; one’s no path at all.

So sad my friend I too have long memory’s of redskin games GD concerts & now they can’t even demolish it? Is that how F….Ed up DC is?
