@@sharonbond4436 not familiar with these but as it's a convertible the roof mechanism might be part of the problem. Have a look in your handbook and see if there is a manual release for the boot hidden somewhere inside the car. Find someone familiar with these would be a good idea. Good luck.
Thank you so much. After months and months of accessing my boot through the inside of the car behind the seats because my boot wouldn't open, I have fixed it following this video. It opens with ease every time now. Very pleased with myself, a very happy lady! 😊
Really appreciate this video. Just bought an 05 estate today for about half its value as the previous owner was planning to scrap it because the boot wouldn't open! This video basically just paid me 600 quid for 20 minutes work!
Hi, thanks for the video. My hatch was open, central door locking is out and I locked the hatch 😂. Did the same as you but guessed to open with an 8 mill. Allan key. Thanks again!
Very informative, thank you. I’m having the same issue with my 08 Vectra estate, I got it open through the hole inside, but all I’ve done so far is doused the mechanism in WD40. - Never even thought about a micro switch! Thanks again.👍
I just had a brief look when I got home, pulled back the rubber and sprayed a bit more WD inside, and it seems to work again, although it did briefly make a whirring noise. lol. - It does seem full of crap and road grime so if it fails again I’ll strip it down. Cheers!👍
Antony Parkes - thanks for the feedback, much appreciated. If you'd like to show your support and appreciation consider buying me a coffee... ko-fi.com/automotivesolutions
Had same problem but the fix on mine wasn’t damp or the switch, it was the rubber cover pressing on the switch (so the switch is permanently pressed on and trips out). Turned the rubber cover around (so it’s convex as opposed to its correct concave position) and glued it on. Works perfectly and still water resistant.
thats a great idea, we just swaped em out every 8 years or so at the dealership but we did have alot of early cars where we replaced them under warranty about 3 a week min
thanks for the video, honestly I dont know what I did just messed around with the screwdriver but didnt feel anything but it losen the lock so I could open with the regular way from the trunk.
Thanks for this great video and advice , i had the same problem , i tried the small plastic insert , that did not work . I was able to remove the old switch , my local garage got me a second hand replacement within a couple of days , i was able to do the fitting thanks for your clear guidance .
Got the same problem, been fitting a new rear wash jet so maybe mines got wet. Thanks for the info on the method to open it from the inside.Know where to start now.
I worked for Vauxhall dealer for 6 years they used to brake under warranty so defo a fooked switch everytime lol Nice temp fix but for the sake of £14.86 + vat i personally while its already apart of just replaced it for peace of mind. If your boot is full when goes wrong & get a puncture etc.....
I tried this but it didn't work for me simply because it wasn't the issue i had(didn't know that at the time so tried this anyway)if it doesn't work for anybody else and you have also noticed your front and rear screen wash pumps have stopped working its probably the little red 10amp fuse in the fuse box under the bonnet on the right hand side, cost me under £1.50 for two fuses(you only need one), took two minutes to replace and now my boot and both front and rear screen wash pumps are working fine again.
hi, i tried easy fix didnt work, bought new part still didnt work, anymore info onit would be good cheers. i could hear clicking from boot fusebox if that helps any.
what if you cant access the trunk from the inside? i have a two seater, and theres like a grill between the front seats and the back of the car. Do you have any idea of how do i do it? thanks
@@Automotive_Solutions Do you mean that if the fuse for the washers goes it stops the lock working? My hatch lock isn't working and was thinking of trying this...but if my washers are still working i'm guessing that wouldn't be the issue?
Hi, watched your video on the rear 5th door repair was good . I have a problem with my Zafira boot door witch keeps flicking on and off whilst driving and having to stop to close the boot ,this is happening all the time .any suggestions please.
Sounds like a defective switch. Possibly moisture in there. It's probably worth taking it apart and having a look at the switch. Test it with a multimeter. Good luck. 👍😁
Can I make this switch weatherproof somehow? There is some ice inside the button and it's not working when cold outside. Is just silicone between rubber cover good enough?
Is it the same for a signum? The boot won't open, but when i unlock the car with the remote, lock pushes the boot back a bit, but not open, its stuck between opened and locked, i cant push on it to make it closed, but can't open it
My partners astra boot does the same thing, but we've tried pressing the clicky button so hard and we hear the click every time but the boot doesn't open. Do you think this is a technical fault instead of the button not being pressed properly?
My bad week continues. Yeah I found a plastic bit out of place thats stopping the switch and repair it and test. It`s a bit slow getting to 0 ohms and when you release the switch it still takes a while to go to open circuit. When you connect it, it opens the lock soon as you connect and won`t work after. I am going to glue a microswitch in place as I`ve had enough today. Bloody cars FFS.
@@Automotive_Solutions ITS WORKING!!!! Put it in the oven for an hour at 50 degrees and it dryed out. 2005 Nissan Micra. Happy again. I realized it should not be opening the boot when just connecting the switch. And at 25 ohms open circuit, it must of been water. I would not of thought about water if not heard you say about it. Happy New Year mate and thanks. :)

Just your average size screwdriver. Nothing tiny or massive. Get a torch in there so you can see the slot for it. 👍

How do u remove this plastic handle ?

I would think that should keep the water out. Either that or a new switch.
Does the piece glued in interfere with the central locking
No, it all works as normal afterwards.

The roof isn't open electric, because the trunk mecanical stuck
how to open the boot manually because it can not be electric

Thanks for that

My partners astra boot does the same thing, but we've tried pressing the clicky button so hard and we hear the click every time but the boot doesn't open. Do you think this is a technical fault instead of the button not being pressed properly?
Hard to tell. Might be a fuse or wiring fault.
@@Automotive_Solutions yeah I think so. My partner said about the windscreen wash not working. I reckon it could be the fuse
Yes check that out first.
another thing that it could've been is a fuse under the bonnet
True, always worth checking too. 👍
By my car the tailgate lock goes automtic open if i start the car. I dont now what the problem is.
Hi, You cannot get to the switch witout removing the crhome?... omly to pill the rubber?

Do I need to disconnect battery before I remove micro switch?
- you don't need to.
Do you think this will work on opel corsa?
I haven't personally had this with a Corsa but plenty of vehicles suffer with rear tailgate switch problems so probably worth having a look to see.
Automotive Solutions thank you very much sir
If I fitted a new micro switch would I need to do anything to the key fob such as reprogramming or is it just a simple replacement
No reprogramming required.
Do you drive around all the time with your registration plate covered up?
Only if I'm up to no good. lol
Only a twat would have enough time to make a comment like that.

Wrong! It's just the glue that holds the switch in place so just re-glue the switch in place.
My fix is still working over a year later so you pays your money and takes your choice. 🤔
