    Worked for me. Very helpful, especially showing how to open it from inside as I don't have the button on my key. Thanks.

    This is a wonderful video. Thank you for taking the trouble to upload it Paul. I wanted to confirm and reassure myself that the switch was faulty before ordering a new one. This can be done after the internal tailgate trim has been removed, because it's easy to access the back of the switch even before removing the chrome trim. All you have to do is find the back of the switch, and pull off the little plug from it, shown later in your video. There are two wires coming from the the plug. Mine had a black and a yellow wire. Shorting these two together with a jumping link caused a clunk and the lock opened. _Not_ the plug with three wires, that one is for the boot lock solenoid. Being me, I had to investigate what the problem had been with the switch. I removed the flexible boot held in place by some clips and some sealant which had dried out, scraped away the potting compound, and there is a tiny little crappy pushbutton switch embedded inside the assembly. This has a little dome which collapses when you push it to make contact. It was just a little bit corroded. I was going to try to clean it, but one of the legs snapped off so I can't say whether or not that would have worked.

      @@PaulsTechChannel I have done a temporary bodge with a small toggle switch, while I wait for a cheap Ebay replacement to come from China; £3.81 including postage. I just kept the 2-pin plug, used the existing tails of the wires from the plug, soldered the toggle switch onto them and insulated the connections to make sure they don't short to the metal bodywork. It will do fine for now.

    Thank you for the very clear instructions. The hardest bits were getting the plastic cover off the lock and putting the felted plastic part on at the end. Job done!

    This is a very helpful video and made the job of changing the boot lid switch itself quite easy to carry out. I had more of an issue with emptying the boot

    Wow..... Is this procedure the same for the estate version? Ours has an electric tailgate that goes all the way up/down. It's been temperamental for about a year and recently its just stopped working and wouldn't open ar all.
    Is the estate version designed the same as the sedan?

    This ok on a insignia, up to 11 plate maybe 12 or 13 , but from 14 onwards it is totally different,,
    There are 7 bolts, all 7 m, it is slightly different and a little more involved from a 14 plate onwards,,

    This would be helpful but the inside of my vehicle bears no resemblance to the video. I cannot locate anything that looks like a'boot release catch'

    • @laurabush5707
      @laurabush5707 Год назад

      I believe he has the plastic cover off in the video. It also threw me. If you look very closely inside the boot where the lid meets the bumper, you can get a screw driver in there to release the catch.
