i liked how maps in the original mw games looked like just a section on an iraki city, they blended into the sorroundings. I feel like more current maps feel like a standalone arena in the middle of nowhere. Washed out colors are not a bad thing. You need a mix between saturated and insaturated maps. The FDE tone of arab cities is cool imo, together with some sand it makes a cool atmosphere. If you put too much saturation everywhere your maps start looking like mario kart tracks.
Hydroelectric, Himmlemat, fortress, Mercado, Polayos lighthouse, Kuesteanar District, waterfront all look stunning and aren't copies of real life locations

I feel like CoD4 Pipeline is just ugly. It’s massive and very gloomy compared to the other maps. Hardly any color that I can remember except a blue tinge everywhere. Also, be honest, you forgot this map existed. That’s how you know it wasn’t great.

I’d like add some thoughts onto your little mini rant at the end. Personally, disagree with Farm 18, but also I actually like the aesthetics of the Modern IW. MW did 100% go for that more realistic vibe with muted colors, but maps like Hackney, Grazna, Gun Runner, Atlas, Hovec Sawmill, Cheshire Park, Petrov Oil Rig, Mialistor tank factory, I think these maps actually look really cool while having muted colors. As for MWII, I disagree you somewhat strongly. The color it has is actually really dope, and is probably the most colorful Modern Warfare game. More than just the irl ones, like in my opinion, Farm 18, Santa Sena, Mercado Las Alma’s, Himmelmatt, Pelayo’s Lighthouse, the two new maps ripped from Vondel. Like at least for me, besides MW3, and to an extent Ghosts(launch maps) and MW2, look much worse in terms of color. I dunno the aesthetics are FAR from being a complaint about this game, tbh it’s one of the few things I like about MWII. As for your lack of care comment regarding IW, idk. Like I feel it’s less so that they are passionless about their game. I disagree, like while I don’t disagree that IW doesn’t really care for its hardcore fans, IW still does have passion. Unfortunately, it is primarily reserved for the Campaign, the Art/Animation guys(those MF’s actually make changes to small complaints by the gun nut side b/c they care that much), and the Causals, especially after IW flopped and MW popped. Like if I had to reword it, IW puts time and passion into trying to achieve a really good looking and feeling game, but will sacrifice gameplay integrity and the hardcore playerbase to do so.
Infinite Warfare's maps had the coolest locations and premises, which is why it sucked so mych that they all had basically the same design. How do you have an advanced movement game and still can't break away from the flat small 3 lane maps. So much potential for great and memorable locations ruined by terrible and repetitive layouts. Also yes, i thought the tanks in waw were cool
most of snow maps in modern cods look like shit due to terrible lighting in heavily overcast conditions. Himmelmat's lighting is trash. Also night maps look way too blue and bloomy
@@AscendAR Taraq when you start the map it barely loads up, lags a ton because of said loading up, looks more depressing than 95% of Ghosts aesthetically whereas Farm 18 has more colour and doesn’t lag much but that’s in my experience

I'm surprised you didn't picked Foundation for MW3. This map was really fun, but it only has 3 colors on it.
I would change like 2 maps, Aftermath for BO2 and Taraq for MW22. But all in all, i agree with this list
