I miss my Henry who I had to leave behind in Animal Crossing New Leaf... I hope I see him again, maybe a on a nook miles ticket island. I just hope I see my smol froggy boi again.
But wasn’t this the letter she had to send to her lover because she was being married off to Henry? Edit: Whoops forgot the second part was included in this song since I saw the musical with the talking between it 😅😬 Sorry
Probably because parr to a lot of the fans is the most boring one. She doesn't really engage in any of the fights and she has the least amount of dialogue. Plus no offense she has the least catchy song after maybe heart of stone in my opinion. It chorus also isn't nearly as catchy as the others.
She used to be my least favorite queen with my least favorite song, but then after not watching Six for a while, she is one of my favorites with one of my least favorite songs, Parr only loses to Boleyn and Howard, and her song is not my least favorite song because Get Down is difficult to hear, and Haus of Holbein is kinda boring
The fact that Parr isn't even allowed to finish her own song is a pretty good metaphor for being just seen as "the sixth wife", she still owes most of her attention to Henry, despite her accomplishments. It's very bittersweet.
@@katherinehoward3322 that wasnt the middle? Parr sang longer solo than any other queen. Her song is like 2 and half minutes longer than the others to compensate.
I have seen "SIX" three times now. Twice in Washington, DC and once on Broadway. I admit the first time I saw the show this was my least favorite of the six, but it has really grown on me.
This song in parallel is a very sad because at minute 4:01 Parr did not disappear from history, his DAUGHTER (Mary Seymour) was the one who had to suffer the cruel fate of disappearing.😢
The sad thing is that her love, Thomas Seymour - Jane Seymour's brother- was a creep who only married her after Henry's death for social mobility. After Henry died, Catherine wasn't his first choice of a wife, despite her loving him for years - his first choice was Lady and future Queen Elizabeth, who was then only thirteen, while he was 39. Elizabeth turned him down, so he settled for Catherine. When Elizabeth came to live with the couple during her brothers reign, Seymour continued to "flirt"/harrass the child, possibly crossing into SA, forcing Catherine to send Elizabeth away. Catherine died after giving birth to the couple's only child, allegedly claiming to those in attendance that her husband didn't love her and had poisoned her (which makes her part in the rhyme, "survived," quite ironic). Seymour was soon arrested on unrelated charges - sneaking into the king's (his _nephew's!)_ quarters in the palace with a loaded gun - and charged and executed with treason. Lady Elizabeth was taken in for weeks of interrogation, as the council was sure she was involved. The Crown seized the Seymour family's property, leaving Catherine's now-orphaned daughter propertyless. The child died two years later.
I knew about the weird stuff Thomas did with Elizabeth and how they Parrs raised her for a while, but I didn’t know about how Cathrine died. Good lord, how did that family even survive?
I think it's more about thinking for yourself and not letting anyone, male or female, dictate what you think and do. I see so many "feminists" saying that women automatically have to support all other women, yet, if a women is old-fashioned and puts a guy first, doesn't sleep around, believes in modesty, etc., she's accused of suffering from "internalized misogyny," and those same women preaching support don't hesitate to talk crap on that woman and basically say she can't think for herself (hence the "internalized misogyny" b.s.).

they probably don't mention it on this one since all of the queens join in at the end, so its treated more like the group songs (ex-wives, haus of holbein, and six)
I think that line refers to how rejecting a king's proposal was unheard of at the time and, since Henry was known for be quick-tempered and irrational, the alternative probably wasn't a good option either. It was lose-lose either way.
This song hits even harder when you learn what happened to Parr after Henry’s death. She did marry her love (Thomas Seymour, Jane’s brother) but he turned out to be a creep who probably sexually abused a teenaged Elizabeth (who was living with Parr) to the point Parr had to send Elizabeth away to protect her. Parr miraculously got pregnant (this was marriage number four for her and she didn’t have any children with any of her previous husbands so it was figured that she was infertile), giving birth to a daughter named Mary. Sadly, Parr died of childbed fever afterwards. Seymour then proposed to Elizabeth not long after Parr’s death but she wisely turned him down. Then Seymour got charged with treason for trying to kidnap Edward and got beheaded. Little Mary Seymour was taken in by relatives but disappeared from the historical record after her second birthday. It’s accepted by most historians that Lady Mary Seymour died in childhood. So Parr did get to marry the man she loved…too bad he was an asshat
Fact: Cathrine Parr was actually going to be beheaded but she talked her way out of it so that's why she's called survived so if she didn't talk her way out of it, it would've been divorced, beheaded, died, divorced, beheaded, beheaded.
CATHERINE PARR You know I love you, boy In every single way Though I love you, boy I'll miss you every day Oh I love you, boy I wish that I could stay with you And keep the life I made with you And even though this feels so right I'm holding back the tears tonight It's true I'll never be over you 'Cause I have built a future in my mind with you And now the hope is gone There's nothing left for me to do You know it isn't true But I must say to you That I don't need your love, no, no I don't need your love, no, no It'll never be better than it was, no, no But I don't need your love, no, no I've got no choice With the King I stay alive Never had a choice Been a wife twice before, just to survive I don't have a choice If Henry says it's you, then it's you No matter how I feel It's what I have to do But if, somehow, I had that choice No holding back, I'd raise my voice I'd say 'Henry, yeah it's true I'll never belong to you 'Cause I am not your toy, to enjoy till there's something new As if I'm gonna give up my boy, my work, my dreams To care for you Ha, darling, get a clue There's nothing you can do I don't need your love, no, no No, I don't need you love, no, no There's nothing left to discuss, no, no But I don't need your love, no, no' But I can't say that Not to the king So this is goodbye All my love Catherine So I sent that letter to my love Got married to the king Became the one who survived I've told you about my life The final wife But why should that story Be the one I have to sing about Just to win? Nah. Awhile there’s a song about Eliza calling out Alexander, mind you it’s the man she loved Catherine parr was blinded by her love of Thomas Seymour. She even held Elizabeth as Thomas tore her dress. And someone who also was taken advantage of I feel Katherine Howard would have felt betrayed. Eliza lived until a ripe old age. Meanwhile Catherine parr only outlived Henry for 2 years. She passed away giving birth. Her daughter having a unknown fate.

Funny how Henry VIII is literally so famous because of the women in his life-he’s known as the father of Elizabeth I and the guy who had six wives. We talk about him more than Henry VII, who was very important politically as the first Tudor monarch.
this song is the only song that shows just how much she didnt want to be with henry the first wife's song is about how he cast her aside but she wanted to stay and the 2nd and 5th wife's songs are just about their promiscuous behavior with more hints of being used in the 5ths song the 3 wife loved him and wanted to stay same as wife 1 but she died and wife 4 just sings about female independence and how shes a bad ass who didn't have to deal with Henery and got to live comfortably, where asd the final wife's song is all about how she had to leave behind the life of her dreams to survive because she had no choice and how she never even once wanted to be his wife unlike the rest. her pure sadness and sorrow is felt throughout the song and its change of tempo.
These songs are amazing and catchy but I do find it odd that the premise of this musical is that all six are more than just Henry's former wives. Yet all the songs focus almost solely on that instead of exploring their other aspects in depth...
well it's mainly telling a recap of their story yes but it also does include some attributes of the queens in the lyrics aswell. the songs are mainly meant to have relatable approaches to gen z and millennials
I mean that's the point of this last song, "This is OUR musical, can we just say that we don't need his love and enjoy these last minutes without him?"
The premise of the musical is them LEARNING that they are more than just their marriage to Henry. I mean yes most of the songs are about the marriage, but through them we learn about who they were as women. Their interests, their lives, what they had to sacrifice. It's not until Catherine that everyone realises that this stupid competition isn't worth it and they can tell Henry to fuck off
I dont think the competition matters anymore...if anything if im not wrong..she was the one that stopped the fight about who won the competition of who had the worse life with henry
The fight wasn't real. Basically they staged the fight to show that they're more than just Henry's wives and that we shouldn't judge them based on their lives with him.

Lyrics
You know I love you, boy
In every single way
Though I love you, boy
I'll miss you every day
Oh I love you, boy
I wish that I could stay with you
And keep the life I made with you
And even though this feels so right
I'm holding back the tears tonight
It's true I'll never be over you
'Cause I have built a future in my mind with you
And now the hope is gone
There's nothing left for me to do
You know it isn't true
But I must say to you
That I don't need your love, no, no
I don't need your love, no, no
It'll never be better than it was, no, no
But I don't need your love, no, no
I've got no choice
With the King I stay alive
Never had a choice
Been a wife twice before, just to survive
I don't have a choice
If Henry says "It's you", then it's you
No matter how I feel
It's what I have to do
But if, somehow, I had that choice
No holding back, I'd raise my voice
I'd say "Henry, yeah it's true
I'll never belong to you
'Cause I am not your toy, to enjoy till there's something new
As if I'm gonna give up my boy, my work, my dreams
To care for you"
"Ha, darling, get a clue
There's nothing you can do
I don't need your love, no, no
No, I don't need you love, no, no
There's nothing left to discuss, no, no
But I don't need your love, no, no"
But I can't say that
Not to the king
So this is goodbye
All my love
Catherine
So I sent that letter to my love
Got married to the king
Became the one who survived
I've told you about my life
The final wife
But why should that story
Be the one I have to sing about
Just to win? I'm out
That's not my story
There's so much more
Remember that I was a writer
I wrote books and psalms and meditations
Fought for female education
So all my women could independently
Study scripture
I even got a woman to paint my picture
Why can't I tell that story?
'Cause in history
I'm fixed as one of six
And without him
I disappear
We all disappear
So we had no choice
But now it's us alone
So we've got no choice
No, we've got no choice
We're taking back the microphone
I'm gonna raise my voice
They always said:
"We need your love"
But it's time for us to rise above
It's not what went down in history
But tonight I'm singing this for me
Henry, yeah, I'm through
Too many times it's been told
And I have had enough
Love stories to get old
And you might think it's tough
But I've got to let your love run cold
We're taking back control (we're taking back control)
You need to know
I don't need your love, no, no
No, I don't need your love, no, no
Can't let it get the better of us, no, no
I don't need your love, no, no
I don't need your love, no, no
No, I don't need your love, no, no
I don't need your love, no, no
I don't need your love
We don't need your love

But I don’t know who sang this? They don’t mention who sang it here, unlike in “All you wanna do”? Can someone help me pls?
Edit: thanks Pandster And M! and Jorge Guzmán for answering! And for anyone who is too lazy, the name of the singer is Izuka Hoyle!
Izuka Hoyle
Pandster And M! Ohhh thank you!
they probably don't mention it on this one since all of the queens join in at the end, so its treated more like the group songs (ex-wives, haus of holbein, and six)
@@ReallyCoolSami this is *parr*etty unfair towards izuka

You can see how much happier she gets throughout the song
This song is underrated ❤️
Wait, so is it like she had already loved someone, but Henry forced her to marry him?
Yes :( poor cathy
Yes she was in love with Jane's brother, Thomas, and married him six months after Henry died
That guy was shit as well
Yes. It was the man she married after Henry died. He was a total piece of shit. I.e. He sexually abused Elizabeth when she lived with them.
@@whaleymom76 By Elizabeth do you mean Elizabeth the 1st/Elizabeth Tutor? Or a completely different Elizabeth.
It's official, this is my favorite song.
Excuse you?
I love the subtle lyric double meaning in " cause in history" it can be interpreted as History or His Story which both makes sense💕
Catherine Parr: "And without him, I disappear."

Song makes me tear up every time. Her heartbreak is so.. well... Heartbreaking
Part of this sounds a lot like Eliza's monologue in Who Lives Who Dies Who Tells Your Story
"With the king I stay alive" not actually sure he has a great track record with that one babes
I think that line refers to how rejecting a king's proposal was unheard of at the time and, since Henry was known for be quick-tempered and irrational, the alternative probably wasn't a good option either. It was lose-lose either way.
@@riff_rafChristina of Denmark rejected him by saying: I shall only marry you if I were to have two heads.

Dang her high note at the end! That was insane!
Yeah, Thomas Seymour was a complete arse.
Fact: Cathrine Parr was actually going to be beheaded but she talked her way out of it so that's why she's called survived so if she didn't talk her way out of it, it would've been divorced, beheaded, died, divorced, beheaded, beheaded.

CATHERINE PARR
You know I love you, boy
In every single way
Though I love you, boy
I'll miss you every day
Oh I love you, boy
I wish that I could stay with you
And keep the life I made with you
And even though this feels so right
I'm holding back the tears tonight
It's true I'll never be over you
'Cause I have built a future in my mind with you
And now the hope is gone
There's nothing left for me to do
You know it isn't true
But I must say to you
That I don't need your love, no, no
I don't need your love, no, no
It'll never be better than it was, no, no
But I don't need your love, no, no
I've got no choice
With the King I stay alive
Never had a choice
Been a wife twice before, just to survive
I don't have a choice
If Henry says it's you, then it's you
No matter how I feel
It's what I have to do
But if, somehow, I had that choice
No holding back, I'd raise my voice
I'd say 'Henry, yeah it's true
I'll never belong to you
'Cause I am not your toy, to enjoy till there's something new
As if I'm gonna give up my boy, my work, my dreams
To care for you
Ha, darling, get a clue
There's nothing you can do
I don't need your love, no, no
No, I don't need you love, no, no
There's nothing left to discuss, no, no
But I don't need your love, no, no'
But I can't say that
Not to the king
So this is goodbye
All my love
Catherine
So I sent that letter to my love
Got married to the king
Became the one who survived
I've told you about my life
The final wife
But why should that story
Be the one I have to sing about
Just to win? I'm out
That's not my story
There's so much more
Remember that I was a writer
I wrote books and songs and meditations
Fought for female education
So all my women could independently
Study scripture
I even got a woman to paint my picture
Why can't I tell that story?
'Cause in history
I'm fixed as one of six
And without him
I disappear
We all disappear
ENSEMBLE
So we had no choice
But now it's us alone
So we've got no choice
No, we've got no choice
We're taking back the microphone
I'm gonna raise my voice
They always said:
'We need your love'
But it's time for us to rise above
It's not what went down in history
But tonight I'm singing this for me
Henry, yeah, I'm through
Too many times it's been told
And I have had enough
Love stories to get old
And you might think it's tough
But I've got to let your love run cold
We're taking back control (we're taking back control)
You need to know
I don't need your love, no, no
No, I don't need your love, no, no

@@Messed-up-logic idk bc i see it as eliza saying sjw doeant need him anymore

I simply love this musical and its songs! The first instrument played (if you know what it is, do tell please!) makes the start of Parr's song sound like a lullaby or fairytail, which is cool in my opinion.
:]
I love this song it's way more powerful than anything in Hamilton especially when it literally says this isn't how history went but it's my side of the story . I love the line Without him I disappear we disappear because most women's stories in history is only told if it has to do with a guy.
I don't agree with you on the Hamilton comparison, but definitely with the end message of the song.

Funny how Henry VIII is literally so famous because of the women in his life-he’s known as the father of Elizabeth I and the guy who had six wives. We talk about him more than Henry VII, who was very important politically as the first Tudor monarch.
Does anyone else notice how the background music sounds like lobby music?
I LOVE SO MUCH THIS SONG!!!
Really it give me like powers, and it's really sad for Parr for being see like one of the six wifes of Henry VIII...
Love this song!
4:13, is when the other girls join in
this song is the only song that shows just how much she didnt want to be with henry the first wife's song is about how he cast her aside but she wanted to stay and the 2nd and 5th wife's songs are just about their promiscuous behavior with more hints of being used in the 5ths song the 3 wife loved him and wanted to stay same as wife 1 but she died and wife 4 just sings about female independence and how shes a bad ass who didn't have to deal with Henery and got to live comfortably, where asd the final wife's song is all about how she had to leave behind the life of her dreams to survive because she had no choice and how she never even once wanted to be his wife unlike the rest. her pure sadness and sorrow is felt throughout the song and its change of tempo.

Tbf no one really knows a lot about their lives before marrying Henry
Not with out looking really hard for sources anyway
I mean that's the point of this last song, "This is OUR musical, can we just say that we don't need his love and enjoy these last minutes without him?"
The premise of the musical is them LEARNING that they are more than just their marriage to Henry. I mean yes most of the songs are about the marriage, but through them we learn about who they were as women. Their interests, their lives, what they had to sacrifice. It's not until Catherine that everyone realises that this stupid competition isn't worth it and they can tell Henry to fuck off
Love it

Now I know why Catherine and Elizabeth had such a good relationship they both wanted women empowerment
So, like, did Catherine Parr win the competition?
I dont think the competition matters anymore...if anything if im not wrong..she was the one that stopped the fight about who won the competition of who had the worse life with henry
The fight wasn't real. Basically they staged the fight to show that they're more than just Henry's wives and that we shouldn't judge them based on their lives with him.
