Number 2 is my jam for sure.
I loved the first home. Unfortunately, the road cutting through the property was a deal breaker. The second home, while unique, was a little too much. The third home was the most preferable. Thank you for sharing.
The first house has great potential for an Airbnb or rental as extra income. They could also have someone live there and take care of the lawn and snow removal.
I would have taken no 3 also, rent out the second place with provisions of groundskeeper and make money on it.

If you want to minimize your impact you don't buy a 2nd home just for vacations.....
There's nothing wrong with wanting your second home to be "low-impact"... but the realtor called a wood-burning stove "sustainable living" and they were excited about all the fireplace heating, so it's almost like they are just using buzzwords without any concept of what they mean.
