Then you’ve got Better, average sized homes in nicer neighbourhoods that were $300K+ 10 years ago selling for $750k+ now. Wild times.
Home prices will come down eventually, but for now; get your money (as much as you can) out of the housing market and get into the financial markets or gold. The new mortgage rates are crazy, add to that the recession and the fact that mortgage guidelines are getting more difficult. Home prices will need to fall by a minimum of 40% (more like 50%) before the market normalizes.If you are in cross roads or need sincere advise on the best moves to take now its best you seek an independent advisor who knows about the financial markets.

Imagine an earth ship that builds wings all the way around in either a circle or square and has a food forest courtyard in the center with a living waterway winding through for fish, aquaponics and wetland plants like cattails, river cane bamboo and wild rice. The courtyard could process the waste water and compost and maybe even have a retractable greenhouse enclosure. You could even have multiple families in the different wings if you wanted so a community could help run it. Or family compound. So many possibilities, especially when you add things like solar, rainwater harvesting, Home Biogas, and even algae farming and fuel processing! Just add some goats and sheep, maybe some chickens or quale... There I go with my pipe dreams again!

There are many ways this practice could be tweaked and to revolutionize the industry. Trouble is, they don’t build for any reason other than to make money on their investment. The manufacturers of system components use deep pockets to influence building codes and requirements which benefits those industries. It may not be feasible to build exactly these homes as a subdivision, but much of what goes into these could be incorporated. They don’t even need to look like “hippie houses”. Even a strawbale, post and beam structure, which can look very “traditional” can take advantage of passive systems and site orientation and provide many of the advantages of these homes.

That last home is mind blowing!!! I adore how the living room has a very similar architecture as the Enterprise-D. All of these homes are amazing and I'd buy any one of them. What are the round, shiny discs in the walls...are those glass or metal? They're so cool!
If they are shiny discs, that is probably aluminum cans used as bricks. You just see the bottoms of the cans. If they are colored discs, that is gonna be bottles. They use 2 wine bottles of the same color and cut the tops off and tape the bottoms together and use those as bricks. The light shines through them.
actually-I tried to buy one in Colorado a few years ago and it was only $180k. No conventional loan would take it-and it came with 5 acres and a garage out building.
That really depends on what you get. Most of the ones listed are in Taos at the Earthship Biotecture subdivision. And they have been around for a LONG time. So paying on the cheap for these older models is not unheard of because they don't have many of the modern features that the more recent ones do. Now, if you price out building one of these things, you are looking at 300-500k for just standard 2-3 bedrooms. Plus you have to have at least a couple of acres properly situated to build it. They didn't really show the newer ones that are built out there. The thing you have to decide is, Are you willing to pay extra for the self sufficiency.
You can build a earth home for under 40,000 easily. It just won't get insured if it looks like one. I don't care. I need a home. I'm building one. I live in Oklahoma. Someone just donated 28 tons to help. Someone just sold me 8 tons of gravel to help also.
Plastic bottles and sandbags. 1,000 bags holds 50,000 pounds of sand. Rebar 10 ft oot is 10.75. barbwire, glass bottles, with windows doors.....it's affordable for me. Or a home where very warm right now or freezing in the winter. I choose to at least try. Seven churches offered to help. Not one showed. Not even houses for humanity. So ifa 65 old woman can... A 55 woman can. It will be an adventure. Either God doable. All things are possible for those that believe.

Just make sure to add earthquake style reinforcement (criss-cross metal beams) in the walls. Most earthships don't include those and OK gets quakes.
Ive followed these projects for quite a few years and if there was ever a house that you built for living in for the rest of your life, these are them. So im really curious as to why so many are on the market. Unless its just because so many want to leave this country.

As Earth Ships get more popular the price is going to go up. To build one by scratch expect to pay $300,000 if you're hiring a crew. That was a few years ago.
Use cement blocks i worked on a earthship home in black forert colo way 2 much labor. Use Cement blocks it will cut your time in half it works just as good believe me.
The Phoenix is not even close to $450,000.00 it is now for sale at 1.7 million....but worth it too me, I have rented it several times, it is my dream home.

No. Tires are completely encased in clay plaster, and so not exposed to the conditions that would cause any offgassing they don’t leach they’re not exposed to air or sunlight. What type of building does, however is it takes tires out of the environment and encapsulates them and put them to a good use
They are not cheap though as this video title says. That’s fully untrue. I have followed these builds for decades. There is nothing cheap about them. Even if you had a workshop it would still cost more than a standard sticks and bricks. Strawbale or hempcrete are cheaper. Apparently cheaper in Europe than US. I’d have to see what systems they have and how was built. To say $95k it sounds like self build with all reusable products. It also looks very small. Same with the Australian one. Looks very small and was a workshop. Bottom line. Too expensive to have one built for me unfortunately. And if what people are saying, that no one will mortgage, 😂 forget it.
Ask your city planner. Cities and those who profit from the grid do not like these homes/buildings because it means humans are more self sufficient. There's no money in that! Just imagine having no utility bills ever again! And never losing power just because of a storm or the grid going down. I've worked on these homes. They use far less water than other homes because they recycle the water so much. You can grow bananas and fig trees in your in-home greenhouse, right next to your kitchen. They are incredible!

.There's a reason it's so cheap. It's extremely labor intensive plus once you build a house made out of trash. Most states will make you sign a contract saying that you will remove all of the trash and you can never sell it and leave unless you do. Because you can't dump trash and leave it

It also follows his work that he did with the state legislature in passing laws in New Mexico. if the land is at least 5 acres, you can build in any fashion you choose and design it as experimental architecture. It goes in depth into all the issues around these homes if you’re interested in knowing.
It's frustrating that the narration and scripting doesn't match up with what is being shown on the screen so I'm listening to the narrator talking about gorgeous outdoor showers and hot tubs while looking at the inside of a bedroom. Also the video title says these houses are for sale. They even give a price for each one (thanks for that at least), but three of the six houses shown are either for rent, on Airbnb, or some sort of a business venue. And the other three are not clear. I'd like to have seen all of what's described and know exactly what's for sale, what's not, and who the point of contact is for each home.

They have water catchment on the roof and recycle the water several times, meaning you have grey water in your toilets. But the water in sinks, shower and washing machine are fresh and filtered water. The garden cells in the greenhouse are used to filter water from sinks and then it goes out to a leach field in the front yard where you could grow fruit trees. The system is pretty amazing. Yes, the homes require some maintenance but they don't require heating or cooling from a power company or water from a well or city infrastructure. They have been very well thought out. They just continue to improve.

Also, it’s 2,000 sq ft, not 850 as you mentioned in the video. I’ve loved Earthships for a long time, and it’s great that you’re helping others to learn about them, but man, put some accurate prices in your video for 2024. If the Euro was on the market today, which is not the case (and by the way why are you insinuating that it is on the market?), it would like be listed around $700,000. You can’t build a Euro style and size Earthship for $88,000 either. Earthship Biotecture, Michael Reynold’s company in Taos that builds the Earthships in the Greater World Community where many of the Earthships in your video are, charges between $275 and $375/sq ft. A 2,000 sq ft Euro style Earthship could cost $750,000 to build. Your prices are way off. Like 3 to 4x too low. Rammed earth is a much better option. You will never grow enough food in a earthship for one person let alone a family. Super labor intensive to build. Toxic tires, looks like a cave.

I don't see any information that Brighton Earthship is for sale. It's a part of the university and permaculture trust , so the likelihood is slim that it would be for sale... Does anybody have any information on this? Is Brighton Earthship really for sale??? I know a family who are struggling to find the right living space and would love to live there!!!

These cost a minimum of 500K to build. Most if not all of these images are proprietary. Alosha's are not even related to these structures.

No. Tires are completely encased in clay plaster, and so not exposed to the conditions that would cause any offgassing they don’t leach they’re not exposed to air or sunlight. What type of building does, however is it takes tires out of the environment and encapsulates them and put them to a good use

They are not cheap though as this video title says. That’s fully untrue. I have followed these builds for decades. There is nothing cheap about them. Even if you had a workshop it would still cost more than a standard sticks and bricks. Strawbale or hempcrete are cheaper. Apparently cheaper in Europe than US. I’d have to see what systems they have and how was built. To say $95k it sounds like self build with all reusable products. It also looks very small. Same with the Australian one. Looks very small and was a workshop. Bottom line. Too expensive to have one built for me unfortunately. And if what people are saying, that no one will mortgage, 😂 forget it.
Earthships are far from being cheap. I’ve followed them for the past 10 years and just got back from Taos last week.

Ask your city planner. Cities and those who profit from the grid do not like these homes/buildings because it means humans are more self sufficient. There's no money in that! Just imagine having no utility bills ever again! And never losing power just because of a storm or the grid going down. I've worked on these homes. They use far less water than other homes because they recycle the water so much. You can grow bananas and fig trees in your in-home greenhouse, right next to your kitchen. They are incredible!

The environmental impact is living in a toxic home. Tires are not safe sustainable building materials and the clean up is a high cost to the community.

.There's a reason it's so cheap. It's extremely labor intensive plus once you build a house made out of trash. Most states will make you sign a contract saying that you will remove all of the trash and you can never sell it and leave unless you do. Because you can't dump trash and leave it
There’s a movie called garbage Warrior, and it’s about Michael Reynolds. The man who developed the concept of earth ships. It also follows his work that he did with the state legislature in passing laws in New Mexico. if the land is at least 5 acres, you can build in any fashion you choose and design it as experimental architecture. It goes in depth into all the issues around these homes if you’re interested in knowing.

It's frustrating that the narration and scripting doesn't match up with what is being shown on the screen so I'm listening to the narrator talking about gorgeous outdoor showers and hot tubs while looking at the inside of a bedroom. Also the video title says these houses are for sale. They even give a price for each one (thanks for that at least), but three of the six houses shown are either for rent, on Airbnb, or some sort of a business venue. And the other three are not clear. I'd like to have seen all of what's described and know exactly what's for sale, what's not, and who the point of contact is for each home.

they left labor out of the equations. also, most seem to have been built in the 70s so they arent really that cheap.
Water is usually rainwater harvesting. The houses usually are set up to use the grey water for the greenhouse.
They have water catchment on the roof and recycle the water several times, meaning you have grey water in your toilets. But the water in sinks, shower and washing machine are fresh and filtered water. The garden cells in the greenhouse are used to filter water from sinks and then it goes out to a leach field in the front yard where you could grow fruit trees. The system is pretty amazing. Yes, the homes require some maintenance but they don't require heating or cooling from a power company or water from a well or city infrastructure. They have been very well thought out. They just continue to improve.
The poster lied on the prices. He made us all assume those were today's prices. Some where built 20 plus years ago and many 15 plus years.
The prices are way off. May when they were built over a decade ago.

We almost bought the Euro 9 years ago when it was on the market. The listing price back then was $479,000. Also, it’s 2,000 sq ft, not 850 as you mentioned in the video.
I’ve loved Earthships for a long time, and it’s great that you’re helping others to learn about them, but man, put some accurate prices in your video for 2024. If the Euro was on the market today, which is not the case (and by the way why are you insinuating that it is on the market?), it would like be listed around $700,000.
You can’t build a Euro style and size Earthship for $88,000 either. Earthship Biotecture, Michael Reynold’s company in Taos that builds the Earthships in the Greater World Community where many of the Earthships in your video are, charges between $275 and $375/sq ft. A 2,000 sq ft Euro style Earthship could cost $750,000 to build.
Share the great housing tech but stop lying to people about the cost, and don’t lie and make it look like homes are on the market when they’re not, just so you’ll get more clicks and views that will make you more money.

They aren't exposed. I would trust this home in California more than most other home designs. I worked on some earthships. They are amazing. Especially the newer ones.

Vallecitos -- pronounced vy-ya-see-toes, not however you pronounced it -- was most recently listed for $825,000, not $88,000. That's a ten-fold difference. You also mash together photos of different earthships while talking about several of the properties.What's shocking is that you make these mistakes while clearly reading -- verbaitim -- the listing descriptions on some of the homes. Seems intentional, not an over-sight.
Your prices are way off. Like 3 to 4x too low. Rammed earth is a much better option. You will never grow enough food in a earthship for one person let alone a family. Super labor intensive to build. Toxic tires, looks like a cave.

This Earth Ship idea is old hat, it was tried before and failed miserably, the people inside, instead of getting along fought constantly, also instead of staying in the so called Earth Ship, snuck out and went into the near by town, to purchase pizza and beer, they were caught and the entire venture was shut down. The only thing these types of endeavors create is money for the sponsors.
