    People should know that Michael Reynolds had to fight the system every step of the way throughout the development of the earthships.
    He went to Washington to allow free citizens to experiment on these technologies in certain areas.
    He went to places that had been destroyed by natural disasters and taught thousands how to build homes using materials that were native to the area.
    He's provided the world with the answer to an enormous problem.
    And he's a really cool guy.

      @@jamiemorgan4146 The Amish live with no electricity or running water. Not even a building permit. It's seen as a violation of their religious beliefs for the government to impose an ordinance or code on them or their buildings, plus none of them live in towns really. Given that Amish carpentry, woodworking, and workmanship are far higher than any code would impose anyway, I guess no one sees it as an issue.

    My cousin built one of these in the 80's in Colorado. Have to say that initially it was not very attractive to see trash sticking through the walls and tires and so on. They took a LONG time to finally finish everything. But it looks beautiful now, and it is ALWAYS comfortable inside. Really nice temperature. Warm when it's cold out and cool when it's hot. Pretty cool.

      If you could just 'camp out' inside one of these structures - the $savings in energy and maintenance, water service would go quite a ways towards supporting a more leisurely completion of some of the interior details.
      Just having the peace of mind of being sheltered from the extremes of weather would be a great plus - If several 1000's of these could start sheltering house-less people on our public lands - the municipal services budgeting would be greatly improved.... just check out your own state & local conditions. Roger Hallam is right that Citizen Assemblies should be forming to give those corruptocracies a run for the money. Public Assemblies can make much better choices than corporate sponsored 'representatives'. These earthships are such an appropriate solution that we citizens should be getting the Environmental Council Meetings packed with citizens who want them approved and completed before the standard corrupt and ignorant policies squander even more of our national treasuries.
      Play more with Constituent Assemblies type of democracy in your home towns. What are we waiting for? It's time already. The systems we've depended upon are regularly failing. There's a reason to show up for each other and make it happen. 🌲😎🌲

    This really is the most sustainable way to move forward as a society. It would be so great if everyone or at least most of us went to this style of living, completely independent of these money grubbing corporations that are literally treating us like cattle, exploiting our time and effort, costing our health, all for their benefit-or more accurately, their lives of lavish excess. If the powers that be don't offer us anything we can't produce ourselves, well then they cease to be powerful.

    We should let Mr. Reynolds design our cities. We would have almost zero homeless, no one would go hungry, families could afford to live well, pollution would be minimal, and people could live healthier lives.

    • @makeamericagreenagain8511
      @makeamericagreenagain8511 3 месяца назад

      @@NoSenatorson when people who believe like you get their local environmental branch actively building the permanent flood control, Miyawaki Food Forests and environmentally sound free housing - it can become part of your municipalities approved free housing - just start building the free housing that your love of your neighbors tells you is needed. Your experiences will guide the expansion. It could start to be accepted by your neighbors as 'pre-legal' like Brad Lancaster did with waterharvesting in Tucson recently. Best wishes for your sensible governance. 💚
