The biggest concern is the fact PG is 34, the exact age we see 90% of superstars like PG fall off big time either due to general decline or injuries. Dwyane Wade, Kobe Bryant, Carmelo Anthony, Paul Pierce, and many more hit the wall at 34. Philly better hope he's built like KD and Lebron, Celtics and Knicks are still gonna beat them either way.

It’s different nowadays. Back then, former stars struggled to take a backseat and couldn’t adapt. Today, stars/good players are now embracing lesser roles as they age and “slow down.” Look at LeBron, KD, Harden, Westbrook, Conley, KLove, Horford, Draymond, Lowry, etc.
Difference with PG is he is still producing at virtually the same rate that he’s always been. Sure he may have lost a bit of athleticism but he is still doing what PG does. Plus his game is likely to age extremely well.

    • @michaelahurt
      @michaelahurt День назад

I think people are drastically overreacting to the CBA.
Look at Boston, NY and Minnesota. If you have a contender you just pay the money and eat the "penalties" that aren't going to effect you anyway
      The bigger impact is on:
      1) a team like Phoenix or Philly or the Heatles or KG Celtics who want to get a big three now and then to fill out the roster later. The new CBA removes the mechanisms for doing that.
      2) a team like LA who is a quasi-contender but can't just throw money at the problem by packaging two players for someon like LaVine
The new CBA rewards proper _team_ building while limiting how long teams can stay at the top
The issue right now is teams got trapped between the old world and new. Boston and Minnesota threaded that needle. (Although it may blow up in Minnesota's face still.) Phoenix and Denver did not.

If you added up the total number of playoff games played by all players on Boston's starting 5, I don't think it can be matched. Yes, most of it is Tatum, Brown and Holiday, but on top of that you've got the fact that everybody on the organization knows what it took to win a championship last year, and they essentially did that without Porzingis and with Tatum shooting poorly.

trading paul geroge to the warriors, especially for a package without kuminga also took them over the second apron. why would the clippers kill all of their potential flexibility for andrew wiggins???
if the new CBA was not in place, the clippers would likely have no problem paying Paul George his current contract, but the clippers figured that they did not have the personnel or flexibility to win a championship, so they really had no other choice but to leave him for nothing.

I don't think Paul George is a good fit because PG plays best in isolation plays and needs the ball in his hands like Embiid to be effective. Problem is there is only one ball and you know Embiid is going to get the ball 75% of the time.
I would not be surprised if PG's scoring average drops by 25% because PG will be the 3rd option. At the Clippers, PG was either the #1 or #2 option.
Sixers would have been better off trading for Anunoby, Mikal Bridges or Klay Thompson.

PG is in the 73rd percentile as an iso scorer but 94th percentile as a spot up shooter and 95th percentile as a cutter. He'll be fine off ball
He's also 95th as a PnR ball handler which means Maxey can play off ball more and Maxey is insanely good off ball. He shoots 45% on spot up threes and is maybe the best guy in the league attacking closeouts. He makes split second decisions and gets into the paint before his defender knows what happened
Although I'm not sure Oubre makes quite as much sense now. He needs to make shots because teams just won't guard him in the playoffs.
