Jason is a smart man. Family first. Everything else, second. I still love the Chicago 18 album.....just amazing vocals all over it. Bill, Jason, and Robert blend very well vocally. Oh....and nobody does the bass solo intro on I'm a man better than Jason. I saw that live......what an awesome show.
Well over the years it has been proven he's a nice person. No bad reputation nor publicity ever written. Didn't lived the life of sex and drugs. He had me at Will You still Love Me. Tell him as a fan, I still do 😁
John, my appreciation with how well you handled the answer regarding Jason's son. I sat stunned and was so impressed with how well you handled this. Jason is such a great guy, and it reminds us all that these artists are living real lives and deal with so many difficult life situations that we all must face at some time. God bless, Jason. From an original Posse member (samtkid).
I was a MAJOR fan of Chicago. But, as of late with all the departures, it seems that the three remaining original members want 100% dedication with no questions. And, if one of the band members doesn't like the touring schedule, to bad. Or if anyone in the band wants or needs to take some time away for family or health reasons the original members just cast them out and replace them immediately. I lost tremendous amount of respect for the original members. Keith Howland had and injury...he left or was dismissed from the band. Bill Champlin wasn't happy and from what I understand he was treated like trash. He just wanted to do some side projects with the Sons and, low and behold he was gone. Peter Cetera said in an interview that he was considering leaving the band anyway. But, when they learned that he wanted to do a solo project while still in the band, they gave him an alternative of signing a contract or get fired. Just look at how many members have left in the very recent past. I think that says it all.
Man, Generation Radio is a fabulous album, start to finish... best album of 2022! Great vocals, harmony, variety... would be a #1 if released in the early 80s. A wonderful tribute to that era...
I always like Jason with Chicago, my prayers go out to his family, excited to hear about a little Doors reunion with Jason singing, hope to see that. And yes I would love to see him back with Chicago at some point!
@@lamarravery4094Peter Cetera and Jason Scheff were with Chicago for a combined total of 49 years, just 7 years less than the 56 years that they have existed as a band, so that would stand to reason that Chicago would not have the same feel as when they were with the band.
I believe that there is a lot more animosity between Chicago & Jason than we will ever know, but I Jason comes across as too straight up and dignified a guy to say anything bad about them. In fact, in all his interviews, I haven't heard him say anything even remotely bad about anybody. Jason seems like such a gentleman.
Oh. I agree. I think that there's ALOT of animosity between ALL of the ex members. Bill Champlin lays it all on the line. He doesn't hide the fact that he and the original members don't like one another. My personal opinion is that either the ex members are such professionals that they refuse to talk negative about the band. Or, they are forced through some type of written agreement to not disclose why they left or not to make negative comments about the band. I thought Lou Pardini was going to be a life member as Jeff Coffey...we all see how that worked out. Keith was in for almost 30 years. The guy suffered an injury and poof....he was gone. So, Farerwell Chicago. Judging from all the departures, I 'd say it is very difficult to work with the original members. I think they're desperately trying to hold on to something that they maybe they should have given up a long time ago.
I remember this. I lost my step-daughter years ago, and would wish it on no one. I'm glad he had the presence of mind to really focus on family. Jason had some video of that studio stuff with the Doors. So rad.
Bill Champlin told Beudin awhile back that Jason had pitch problems while he was in Chicago and lot of it due to them trying to make him sound like the younger version of Peter Cetera . Champlin said he and Jason did projects together since they both been out of Chicago and told Beudin Jason was a much better singer SINCE Jason left the band in 2016. I don't believe he's going back to them nor do I think it's even necessary.
He should say Why Are You Calling Me Now 🤣. The man just defines the word Class and I’m so glad he was able to be there for his wife Tracy along with his sons and step daughter as well. Life is too short In the end and not only did they tour quite a bit but would add in private events along the way. As a fan we all forget the toll it takes on a person and family and yet they still have to be up on stage or on a field looking excited and giving it their all. The MLB within the past few years allow bereavement time allowing a player to go home for a few days and it’s long overdue imo. Musicians don’t have that luxury and his family grew up before his eyes and now that I get older I look at it all in a different perspective. As for the Doors story I just get chills hearing that of him using the same amp and Jim Morrisons microphone 🎤 It just doesn’t get much better than that and a pinch me time for sure
I miss Jason but I gotta admit the guy that has filled in doing all the high parts-hate that I don’t know his name-is really amazing!! This summer tour was one of the best I’d seen. But still-would love to see Jason one more time with them!
John Densmore,Great and very under appreciated drummer, had that Ringo in the pocket timing with some of best ''jazzesque'' accent/fills I've ever heard. In drumming, feel and groove is everything, the space around whats being played is as crucial as the beats/notes themselves!CCR's Doug Clifford has that same amazing talent.Isn't Music Great!
Jason Scheff seems like a great guy! Very personable, kind, honest, I wish more people were like Jason! Good on him!
Such a positive person. Need more Jason’s in todays world!✌️

Jason is a close friend and I can tell you firsthand he's a very good man and a humongous talent...
Well over the years it has been proven he's a nice person. No bad reputation nor publicity ever written. Didn't lived the life of sex and drugs. He had me at Will You still Love Me.
Tell him as a fan, I still do 😁

I love him! He is a great guy and very talented as well!
Jason I’m so sorry about your step son and wife parents I’ll keep my prayers
Jason is a class act and is sorely missed in Chicago! Met him after a show a few yrs back with my daughter and he couldn't have been nicer to us!

@chrisadams2246 Chicago 18,19,and 21 would be totally different if Peter Cetera was the Tenor of those records
I have great respect for his decision.
That's the greatest story I've ever heard...Jason performing with The Doors. Incredible story!
Thank you John for these interviews. Jason’s a lucky dude to play with a lot of rocks biggest stars
Man, Generation Radio is a fabulous album, start to finish... best album of 2022! Great vocals, harmony, variety... would be a #1 if released in the early 80s. A wonderful tribute to that era...
I hope they do come together as a band. Jason has a great voice
I always like Jason with Chicago, my prayers go out to his family, excited to hear about a little Doors reunion with Jason singing, hope to see that. And yes I would love to see him back with Chicago at some point!
I love Peter with Chicago, but Jason continued the legacy. Truth be told, Chicago doesn't feel like Chicago ever since those guys left.

I love so much that his family is so important!
And I’m so sorry about the loss of their boy 😢
I hope you interview him again down the road! Such a great guy!
The only band I love more than Chicago are The Doors. Thank you so much for the upload!
Great interview. Jason you are a real inspiration(no pun intended). Thx for sharing your gift with the world.
I love Jason Scheff. Periodt. Nice and talented human being
Doing the right thing... good for you!
Great stuff as usual John. JS is always fun to listen to. That’s an amazing connection his family has with the Doors from way back.
I remember this. I lost my step-daughter years ago, and would wish it on no one. I'm glad he had the presence of mind to really focus on family.
Jason had some video of that studio stuff with the Doors. So rad.
Great Talent and Great Person
Amazing interview with Jason, John!
The generation radio album this complete awesomeness from start to finish wonderful album
Any fan of chicago knows the band has been kinda bad mouthing jasons vocals in the past few years. Jason is very gracious and would never say this...
He made the right call!

Jason is my hero! Stupendous bass player and lovely human being!
What lovely guys he deserves everything in this world and love from us fans ❤🌷
Jason loved your voice 1st time I ever heard you then to see you & Chicago live in Atlanta City was so awesome 👌
What for a great ejoyable interview. Jason really relaxes while talking to you hahaha.. really cool :)
He has a great voice
Chicago needs him back, I don’t care for the new guy I’ll be honest. But family comes first absolutely. Jason is one down to earth dude!!
Killer interviews! Jason is a real cat!

Neil Donnell.
Neil is a great singer but his guitar playing isn't great.
For me it's not a band. It's just a name now with most of the members from 1968 retired/dead I just don't see them as I did when they put out 17
Family is ALWAYS first in my book...🎸
Awesome clip! Great stories!
Jason is so talented and he has such interesting stories to share. 😊👍

Great interview John!! Jason is outstanding. Did he mention when the Doors footage would be released?
Awesome interview 👏.
Scheff was in for over 30 years! Cetera was in like half that time! Both were great...I felt it was a natural move...Scheff and dad rock!
I have respect for him leaving Chicago to take care of his family at a time that he was needed.
Good question.
Now I know why he left Chicago. I would like to hear him some doors songs
Jason's dad, Jerry, recorded on LA Woman.
I had seen in the news about his stepson’s death.
Where can we listen to these recordings??
That’s interesting about him when he play the doors
Peter Cetera to Eric Baines - All Chicago bassist timelines
Peter Cetera
Jason Scheff
Jeff Coffey
Brett Simons
Eric Baines
Love it
Didn’t Jason’s dad play bass on all the Doors records back in the day?
The LA woman album
Jerry Scheff also played on some Elvis records
Class
That’s interesting story
Way cool 👍🏼😎
Heck, I can sing "Riders On The Storm" and "Love Her Madly" just fine. I'm available if anybody wants to hire me. :-)
So... was that a Yes he WOULD go back to Chicago if asked? I'm confused...
i took it as a no
❤
what and why..............................................................................................................
He’s not my favorite lead singer for Chicago. I thought he was cocky.
