  • This video will show you EVERY guitar part for Naked City by KISS.
    Tuning: Standard A440
Naked City Written by: Gene Simmons, Bob Kulick, Vini Poncia, & Peppy Castro

This channel will include guitar tablature for each new RUclips guitar lesson, backing tracks, additional guitar lesson videos on theory, technique, practice habits/recommendations, goal setting, chord building, and studying our guitar hero's and applying to our own playing. Plus it's only $3/month (the cost of soda). This will help provide the necessary resources to continue providing weekly guitar lessons. Thanks everybody.
One of the few times Bob Kulick has a co-write on a KISS song, but from what I researched did not play the solo. Ace Frehley laid down the guitar solos for Naked City. Once I began breaking down the solo parts, it was quickly apparent this is an Ace lead. Ace does a nice job of using the pentatonic scale in a very melodic way.

Agreed it's one of the more heavy tunes from the album. i kinda don't mind the album , very pop but the tunes are all very well written and performed . I think they had lost the urge for the more heavy side , reaching a low with the Elder . But then they came back with Creatures a excellent really heavy album , the one they should have followed unmasked with in my view.

I was obsessed with the Unmasked album as a kid.. I literally listened to it every day after school for an entire year lol
I really love this track in particular, moody and dark, like Gene 😅

Best song on Unmasked, and imo Gene's finest lyrics of the 80s. More mature, a bit dark, a bit sad.
Great vid, btw. I'm always eager to learn Kiss's deep cuts.

Thanks my friend. Yes, I agree. One of Gene's better songs. I've always thought the entire Unmasked album is solid.

I saw this posted recently but it was a song I already knew how to play so I hadn't watched it. Still havent, but I saw you asking for comments to help build your channel and Im only too happy to help you out there mate. As far as I know I have commented all the lessons I've watched in full (on your channel) but Ill go thru your KISS list and drop something on each one for ya. Im actually going to be moving to USA later in the year and once Im settled there Ill contact you with some ideas I have that may be able to benefit the both of us.

Thanks man. I hate slow the video lessons down by asking for likes, comments, and subscribes ever few minutes, but RUclips isn't making it any easier year by year.
That's awesome man. Where are you going to relocate too? Yes, we definitely need connect for sure. I'd love that.

You're are very welcome Steven. It's the least I can do. You've been so kind and supportive. I really appreciate you my friend.
Yes, this tune has an interesting musical arrangement for sure. Ace uses the pentatonic scale in a more melodic way than usual on this one.

@@ChristopherCox Thanks Chris! I appreciate you! I don't remember the video(s) you mentioned it in, but Ace's solos were really songs within the song. I've always thought the same. They were very thematic and took the song to another level.

@@stevenbruno2752 There's a few guys that can do that ,Ace is one. Randy Rhoads and Neal Schon are 2 more. I never seen a guitar player do more with a pentatonic scale than Ace. He always adds a little change that catches your ear.

@@ChristopherCox Well said, Chris. I always loved Ace's vibrato as well. Some of those old shows where really wrenches that vibrato!! Wow! Randy is another one of my favorites. Neal Schon is great too.

I qute liked the first side of the unmasked album. Here in Australia in 1980 Kiss hysteria rivalled Beatlemania.
