Those synchronized guitar/vocal wails that Jake and Josh do in live performances never fail to be jaw-dropping.😮

I think the reason it all works together is because they played/jammed in their garage for years. They are totally in sync with each other.

Josh owns his voice and the stage. They have a ton of presence on stage.

No backing vocals on this one, first time they played it live. Now Sammy is doing those gorgeous Yes-like backing vocals. The recorded version is cool because of the weird bridge.

This was filmed at Sacramento on March 28th, the last show of the Dreams in Gold tour, where they debuted The Falling Sky, Indigo Streak, Farewell for Now, and Sacred the Thread. No one who went that night was expecting them to do what they did but that was the night they announced Starcatcher. They debuted Meeting the Master in Anaheim tho, which was the show before Sacramento.

Funny thing. I discovered them because of a youtube short a few months ago.. The one from Saturday night live.. I'm so out of the music loop i never heard of them before. Around the same time i came across shotgunns first reaction of them. Lol I thought Damn dude you gotta give these guys a chance. Ever since ive been watching your videos and goin on the journey with you. I grew up on Zeppelin, Rush, Mettalica and all the others. Rush will always be number 1 to me and Neil Peart my hero. I haven't been to a concert since Rush around 13 years ago. GVF were amazing live; Awesome talent energy and stage presence!!! I'm hoping these guys give us decades of epic music

You should react to the Strange Horizons vinyl rip that I sent you. It was originally recorded directly from the soundboard and I think that my vinyl transfer is good enough to do it justice. I did the transfer using a Kenwood KD-3100 direct-drive turntable with speed monitored via stroboscope. I upgraded it with a Grado Blue cartridge which i spent a long time aligning absolutely perfectly, and plugged it into a Rolls VP29 phono preamp. I took two recordings of each side so that any horrible pops or clicks could be edited out by replacing the segment with one from the second recording, and then ran the entire recording through an algorithm intended to reduce the surface noise.

Also, i still have all the original wav files on my computer. I don't know nearly as much about audio engineering as you do, so if you think you can do a better job just let me know and I'll send the files to you.

Yep, that was the very first time they played it live.
They played Meeting the Master in Anaheim on 24th March and other four (the rest of the singles + Indigo Streak) during the last DiG show in Sacramento on 28th. It seemed like a strange move - it was before the singles were released and people who were there obviously recorded it. Then, with each single, they released these live recordings alongside the studio versions. So it suddenly made sense. Still a strange move, but very "GVF."
I believe the cameras were on during the whole show on both nights...I'm still hoping we'll get the whole Anaheim show. I've seen fanmade vides from that night and despite low quality, it's mindblowing. The Anaheim version of Age of Machine is out of this world. Or the whole arena singing during Black Smoke Rising...

The fact that they've grown up playing with each other is obviously beneficial, but the twin dynamic can't be overstated. Twins live in a different world than the rest of us. They're forever enmeshed with each other unconsciously, so that kind of synchronization is in-built and it can make for amazing outcomes.

This video is actually a soundboard recording of their sacramento show, where all of these live starcatcher videos were filmed. The quality is really high for a bootleg, and it's good a really good version of weight of dreams on it ruclips.net/video/4xnpYGYysCU/видео.html
