Another excellent video! Have you considered painting any of the Marvel Crisis Protocol minis? I'm not the biggest comic fan but the game and sculpts are a lot of fun, especially the newer ones.

Amazing Marco, you are a master! I don't think I will ever reach this level of quality but watching your videos has taught me a lot and I am improving. I've just started using oils for the first time after many years as an 'acrylic only' painter and I've been experiencing good results! Thank you for your inspiration!
Another video that just blows me away with how a cool a model can look. As always it’s opened my eyes to just how using oils can take a model to the next level.
Amazing as always. I always found "clean" exponentially harder because you can't get away with any technical imperfections, as opposed to grimdark and gritty styles where they can pass as artistic choices.
im so glad i found this chanel! as a filmmaker I appreciate your use of zenithal and make the light more volumetric rather than generic like most mini painting channels. I can't wait to start using oils in my workflow for painting my prints :)
My dabbling with oil paints is becoming more and more confident every time I watch your videos, Marco! Next chance I get, I may well do full on oils over acrylic base coats to see where that takes me. Thank you for the inspiration, sir!
Marco, you are a painting god. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and not embracing the making of clickbait videos and stupid challenges like other more populistic channels do. Between your videos and James Wappel I have taken the dive into oils. Lots of fun and I find it needs a completely different mindset to what I was used when using Acrylics.

What kind of brush do you use for the highest detail work in oils? Is that a synthetic brush? Or do you use natural hair brushes for the sharpest details?
Great work! I love the color choices and textures - well executed. Informative video as always. You deserve sponsorship from Williamsburg and Gamblin for the business you've driven to them from me alone - cheers Marco and everyone else!
Simply beautiful! I thought you were done then you broke out the oils and blew my mind...again. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us, much appreciated!
Holy cows Marco! This paint job is incredible! The vibrancy is a nice change and incredibly pleasant to look at. This might be the best video you released so far! I'm really curious to see you do a very large model, taking all the time in the world and striving for the best result using this methods.
Golden high flow paints are so good. They sell them at a Michaels near me (Hobby craft store). My wife goes there and every time I go with her I get a paint or two. I painted my tyranid army with them.
I love the mini, I love the paintjob, I love how you explain things :-). Thanks a lot. I hope you add more minis from this brand to your mix, they are great example for learning more about "non grimdark" ways. Although I wonder how this miniature would look like in a grimdark style too XD
Beautiful work, par usual, Marco. I'm now sitting here, watching your video, and waiting for this weekend to dig into a new project using the paints I picked up last weekend... I might snag a couple of other colors (I couldn't find the Payne's Gray violet that I was looking for, originally, in lieu of ivory black, for the limited pallette I wanted...), but it's feeling like the run up to Christmas morning, already. Thank you for the excellent lessons, so far, and I hope that going with Zinc White, over the far more familiar Titanium white that I've played with so much in acrylic, wasn't a mistake...
You really achieved to mush your very own style further and further, Mr. Marco. It very remind me of the Confrontation style. It's a pleasure to discover another miniature, especially such original and stunning one (GW models are fine, but tend to stay quite "classic" ones). Thanks for sharing such results for a beautiful piece like this.
9:56 I am little confused by your statement: "this is not a oil priming", because afterwards you do the detailing work with oils, so you this stage must have been beneficial, right (as in you have something to blend into?
Thanks man! It depends on how much I want the wash to stain and impact on the previous layer but most of the time I clean it immediately after the application
@MarkoFrisoniNJM, What PSI do you use for your airbrush for those super close shots? I watched your old airbrush vid, but I want to make sure im looking at everything the right way. Thank
Finally my family situation allowed me to catch up with your videos! Excellent tutorial once more! But holy cow… are you using a redgrass games brush for oils?! How do you keep it from getting wrecked?
Hi man, welcome back, hope everything is fine! Hahaha yeah I needed a good tip in a couple of steps; oil paint by itself is not really aggressive on natural bristles and many oil painters prefer natural brushes but the solvent can be a problem if you don't take care of the brush after the work. With a good clean with a proper brush soap you can safely use high quality brushes for oils!
Tabletop miniatures aside. Is contrast always the end result at any scale? Or is there a scale when reflected light starts to take precedence over the typical color palette choices with hue and value. And at what scale do you feel the model naturally casts its own reflected light. I'm blind in one eye so brush control becomes my hurdle at 32mm, at 72mm I can kind of overcome my depth perception. I'm a year into watching these videos after a couple decades painting on canvas. I'm really enjoying watching this community and I am taking a sincere interest in it.
You can never really count only on natural light to create the illusion of larger, real life volumes. Even on large scales like 1/6 or the crazily big super heroes statues in 1/4 or 1/2 scale you still need to emphasise a bit lights and shadows to give the idea of something real in its scaled environment
@@MarcoFrisoniNJM I appreciate that. I have about 10 Sideshow statues anywhere from 1' foot to 3' feet in height. I noticed some artists push the envelope at that scale with reflected light in shadows. While others not so much. Both work! I actually love the artists who paint these figures. I was just curious on your take in the matter. I can't wait to get my hand on the Joker statue w him holding the switchblade. The face and eyes are ultra-realistic!
Stunning as usual, can't get enough of all the new artistic technique and new things im experiencing since i follow your vids :) Quick, rebarbativ, question : what king of brush did you use for your oil paint stage?^^
I can't thank you enough for turning me on to oil paints, blending is a dream, but one question, how do you varnish for protection from chipping/handling on figures that are going to be used on a tabletop?
Hello Marco, your work is fantastic and I've wanted to start using some of your workflow, I know you mention even in this video you can achieve the same effects with various tools. But I was curious do you believe inks can totally replace contrast for work flows such as yours? I'm expanding my ink collection and was curious if you find any benefit between the contrast vs inks in the same application. Thank you in advance. Keep up your amazing work
Brilliant video, just what I needed. Final hightlighting is my weakness. Curious if you diluted the yellow orange ako at all when making the sunlight filter or if was straight ink from the bottle?
Hi Marco, how do you clean your pair of brushes (the dry and the 'wet') between switching colour when you use them with oil paints? Another question: can I use W&N liquin fine detail and W&N sansodor as medium and solvent, respectively? I want to avoid white spirit. Thank you, guy!!!☺️
