Shimada's moment also got a wonderful spread page in the manga that looks really good. Hinata was thinking of Matsukawa, a 3rd year from Seijou! Matsukawa funneled Hinata's hits, which is exactly what he did here.
The first years were all locked in this episode, Tsukki's weirdo quick killer, Kageyama matching up with his teammates, Hinata actually being good at his blocks, Yamaguchi's service ace. We really saw how much growth theg've undergone

While I’ve never really been a yamaguchi fan, that moment was so impactful for me that I searched for the image of the Shimada Mart logo and got it printed on a canvas bag haha. Love it so much (in spite of the low resolution and quality). My only Haikyu merch. *though I must say I realised belatedly that it’s actually kinda morbid to have a sliced up but happy pig 😅
Love how you're able to pick up the small moments that show Hinata's growth even if they were clumsy (and the whole of Karasuno's really, like what Asahi's cooking). Really enjoy your Haikyuu reactions!!

just to clarify the two people's names you were thinking of 1. is Shimada, Yamaguchi's teacher, and 2. is Issei Matsukawa, he's in the middle blocker for Aoba Johsai that said the "you wont hit it this way" line that Hinata was referring to.

I think in terms of production quality, this episode was the worst in the series. However, on a first view, I barely noticed. I'm glad to see Ange and Carlie didn't notice either--I don't think below average animation is always noticeable, nor important, as long as the story stays good. That being said, if they didn't notice the animation quality here after they mentioned they "knew" about it earlier in the season, I think they're in the clear for the rest of this arc! The animation never quite gets "masterful", but it certainly improves a bunch from here on out.

Hinata's defense is a clear MVP contender for this whole match against Inarizaki. The amount of stops and saves he gets is amazing in this match and Nishinoya couldn't be a more proud senpai.

People are so spoiled by the slower pacing of the action scenes that they don't remember how fast Kageyama's and Hinata's minus tempo actually is. Miyas weren't better, but it's already frightening as hell they copied it just like that. And when it comes to Atsumu (blonde twin) saying he can't be as accurate as Tobio, he was talking about consistency. Kageyama is a aiming-genius and has trained a bunch with Hinata, Atsumu is trying it for the first time and cannot do it over and over.

No, it's not "better and faster". Atsumu said he can't be "as precise as Tobio" because he isn't that "robot"-like setter that Kags is but it isn't any slower nor any less effective. The twins quick isn't better than the original but it isn't worse either.
