A very very very thorough and accurate description of Trump's behaviors via Maggie Haberman's explanations and examples. Trump is not unique, but he may be the most extreme example of his type. He is a mix of several different overlapping personality disorders that are "synergistic," magnify each other, and have become irreversibly interwoven and entrenched in him. Maggie Haberman's reporting is a careful and accurate diagnosis all by itself. (I don't care that we are not supposed to try to diagnose mental conditions without a professional personal interview. We have his performances over the decades, in particular during the last 6-8 years, as examples to confirm what I have said about his personality disorders. I wish reporters could find a way to get this out to people.)
Poor interviewer. Young talks too much. She was unprepared by not having read the full book. And, this was not the place to promote her nephew. She is already mentioned him three times and I'm only halfway into the interview.
Agreed. I really respect Haberman and journalists like her, and the fawning elitism of the interviewer is nauseating, and unconsciously so. That makes it more galling that she has no idea.
What has struck me about Trump over time is how rudimentary his use of language is, the arrogant sweep of his demeanor indicating how much he loves hearing himself speak, the extreme use of high-blown adjectives to amp up drama indicating how insecure Trump could actually be about his intellectual deficiencies and, last of all, the entire plasticity of his shallowness and vindictiveness.
In an actual Democracy, legitimate validity is observed as Mutual Respect and tolerant accommodation of/for differing POV. Such a social system of inclusion is anathema to self serving Authoritarians and their followers.
Yes yes yes, I Saw a woman and she was asked, why are you voting for Trump and She SAID,,,I liked him on Celebrity Apprentice, THAT SHOWS YOU,,how gullible people are and the crazy reasons people VOTE the way they do.
Haberma's reputation as reporter par excellence is over blown. She has this tact of appearing self deprecating & soft spoken(Iron fist in a velvet glove) while projecting this aura of someone who has this ability to extract information from her targets that others have been unable to. She has a sharp retort to interviewers whom she perceives as misstating or misrepresenting what she has attempted to convey. She also has this holier than thow attitude & a smug denial of relationships she has with people like Trump, deflecting it onto the NYT. Personally I avoid interviews or discussions involving Habernan as her responses are so predictable &'has a flavor of being contrarian to generally held beliefs of topics being discussed, implying she has information, knowledge & understanding that other mortals are not privey to.

I ❤️ Maggie Haberman!
I like maggie. She's a smart woman. Thanks Maggie
This is the best interview with Maggie about her new book, in my view. Thank you, both, for the integrity with which you act. 🙏
Laugh out loud

Played straighter in the book "catcher in the rye" by j.d. salinger.
Flushing Documents down Toilets. When she said that I couldn't help but laughing.

I thought David Cay Johnston was THE journalist on the subject of Trump,.. he also published a book titled THE MAKING OF DONALD TRUMP..

That is know as an ad hominem attack. You didn’t provide any criticism of her message.
Well done.
He stole you're fired from Vince Mcmahon
Donald steals almost everything
Just like he stole make America great again from Reagan.

Book was #1 because she wrote about Trump. Otherwise unknown.
As much as I despise Trump, I just can't bring myself to give money to an elitist for her book.
That's what your local library (supported by your local taxes) is for!
And I think MOST reporters would be very surprised to labeled as "elitists".
Libraries rock.

@@collindysart6472 😄 Yes, they absolutely do, but not as much as schoolhouses do.
