Thank you Maggie for bringing up the important point that Trump has always been who he is today. It’s my biggest problem with the “Never Trumpers”. No introspection of the policies that allowed a narcissist & megalomaniac to lead our democracy.
When hasn't Trump been bent ?
You would have to go back to the beginning of the neoconservative movement and the scorched earth policies of Newt Gingrich. It was ALWAYS all about winning at all costs and dam# the consequences. Add the Christian Evangelicals to the mix and Trump, or someone like him, was just a question of time...
The signs were there for all to see.
I agree!
Never Trumpers did not support him
I never miss a Maggie interview.
Same
I kinda wish there were a few more of them. Very level-headed speaker, she speaks from a lot of experience as well. Thanks Maggie!
I don’t either. Maggie is one of the few journalists not affected by emotion or flattery. She is very thoroughly researched and writes honestly without bias.
Her appearance on Colbert was hilarious!
Someone being interviewed who not only is an amazing writer but can express verbally in a clear, coherent, and smooth delivery without ums or aahs,, how refreshing. Thank you Maggie Haberman, you are a treasure.
I always really love listening to Maggie. Thank you! Great interview.
Excellent interview. Thank you for posting.
Listen & read the likes of Maggie Haberman & Jon Meacham. Here one finds, IMO, the most evenhanded & responsible analysis regarding Trump that I have yet to experience. it’s sad that not more American voters have the patience, curiosity, & understanding to really absorb their non confrontational & rational method of expression. Easy to grasp for any reasonably intelligent individual & boy does America ever need it. Kudos also to Thom Hartmann‘s pod cast from Portland, Oregon which offers valuable insight as well.
You insult Meacham by comparing them. He's LIGHT YEARS more reliable.

It’s unfortunate that instead of engaging with Haberman’s work on its merits, you dismiss her with a shallow comparison to Mecham, as though the two are in competition rather than contributing uniquely valuable perspectives. Haberman’s reporting and analysis on Trump’s character, behavior, and political impact are widely respected for a reason. Her reporting isn’t only “reliable”; it’s backed by years of firsthand access and meticulous sourcing-factors that have earned her the trust of readers and peers across the political spectrum. That level of insight, especially into someone as divisive and complicated as Trump, simply doesn’t come from a superficial approach.
Furthermore, If you’re accusing her of being unreliable, I’d challenge you to back that up with specifics-because, in reality, her reporting has repeatedly proven accurate, often anticipating events before they became widely understood. Whether or not you like the picture her work paints, it reflects the real-world facts, not some made-up, biased angle. Dismissing her with a cheap insult is nothing more than a way to avoid engaging with the uncomfortable truths she uncovers.
The reality is that Haberman and Meacham operate in different spaces. Meacham is a historian who frames contemporary events within larger historical contexts, while Haberman, as a journalist, works with the immediacy of the present, often covering Trump’s actions and statements in real-time. Dismissing her work as somehow “less reliable” because it’s journalistic rather than historical overlooks the critical role journalists play in providing timely, accurate information. She was one of the few journalists reporting on Trump long before he became president, and her track record speaks to her ability to report honestly and consistently, even on challenging subjects.
Moreover, Haberman’s access to Trump and his inner circle-something she’s earned through years of hard work-gives her insight into his behavior and motivations that few others have. This makes her a trusted source not only for people who already understand Trump but also for those who want to go beyond the caricature, to see the complexities of his influence on American politics and culture. Her inclusion of direct, often candid accounts from her interactions with Trump helps readers see what drives his decisions in ways that are both vivid and credible.
Finally, rather than trying to pit Haberman and Meacham against each other, a more balanced approach would acknowledge the value that both bring to the conversation. Both are credible voices trying to make sense of our times; Haberman through the rigorous discipline of journalism, and Meacham through historical analysis. Ignoring the value of either just limits the opportunity to understand the full scope of Trump’s impact.
If you’re truly interested in “reliable” sources, maybe consider moving past easy, knee-jerk dismissals and actually looking at the substance both Haberman and Meacham offer. Just because you might not like what they have to say doesn’t mean their contributions are any less insightful or important.
Thank you, Maggie, for your hard work and doing what you do to keep us from being in the same (or similar) position as the Ukraine (and people under Putin)! Your information, perspective, and analysis are so important: may we never forget!
Maggie telling it like it is.
Read Adam Nagorney’s book on the The Times, too. Both books are important.
Paternal abuse is the main driver of his mental illness, including a denial of reality that is so strong that he is delusional. Sadly, his progeny have lived with his sick behavior, so to them it's how your father, the leader of the family, behaves. This will be handed down to the grandchildren. There is no measure of punishment that will penetrate their collective veil of denialism.
Tell someone who cares!
I dont think its impossible to get over stupid parents. Lots of people do. But maybe the $$$ makes it more difficult to see the light. They literally dont have to get over dumb parenting just to guarantee their own survival
@@clarkpalace Not impossible but extremely difficult. Being safe in any kind of cocoon makes it very difficult to see who you really are. In addition, if people tolerate the behavior, there is no way the abused will ever "get it".
Is Trump still crushing on you Maggie? Great interview! BidenHarris2024 ❄️ 🌎 ❄️
She's so right about people not being pressed enough on why they EVER supported Trump. Cassidy Hutchinson is at the top of that list, along with Liz Cheney. Cassidy Hutchinson was still considering going to work for Trump in Florida after he started all the election denial business FFS. These people who stuck w Trump until J6 are not to be unequivocally admired.
The best comment so far!
"taking advantage of the buffoon thing"; a variant of W-43 strategerry
Has DT changed? In one respect: there's a level of dementia that's set in. His speech patterns has changed. There's obvious mental degeneration. I'm not fair minded when it comes this person, but at the same time I think any fair minded person will notice it.
I BELIEVE HIS CHARACTER HAS GOTTEN EVEN WORSE.
Here's my advice (because I have so much influence): Biden should name Liz Cheney VP and make Kamala Attorney General. Crackpots R Us
The fact that Stormey Daniels is a porn star is not the subject at all. It's trump`s behavior And cover-up.
I can't unknow that I know what weiner looks like. This is what happens when God turns people over to their reprobate minds,
Fort Leavenworth, located in Kansas, is a highly secure detention facility exclusively used for military personnel (E-1 thru 0-10). It can detain Donald J Trumph (former commander in chief) for 30 days or more and is designed to focus on security and safety. The prison has been equipped with state-of-the-art technologies and security measures to ensure that it can operate at the highest levels of efficiency and effectiveness.
As Heather Cox Richardson has pointed out, his 'envoy', Richard Grenell has been trying the globe as a shadow Secretary of State. This violation of the Logan Act should be enough to land him in Leavenworth. Lock him up already!
As Heather Cox Richardson pointed out recently, Trump's 'envoy', Richard Grenell, has been trying the globe as a shadow Secretary of State, undermining US government policy and programs. This alone should be sufficient to land both of them in Leavenworth. Lock him up already!
Trump always has been Trump and always will be Trump. Fixed, unchangeable and desperate to remain so.
I'll be sure to accept habermans completely unbiased description of trump and his actions and stop believing my lying eyes.
I've been observing the Drumpft-Trump crime family since 1963. When my father was overseas during my childhood, I was relieved to be with my loving grandparents in Queens, NYC. After a BBQ, I would question my grandfather re the Trumps. He explained 'DANGEROUS' thugs & VIOLENT PROFITEERS!
WW2 & the Nuremberg Trials were my hero's assignment. His concerns prove accurate & true 60+ years later!
A whole pile of fools would not agree with you
Hey, since around 1979 for me. New York never wanted that sociopath Let's hope the Country rejects him.
Donald Trump is just a weird, weird guy.
He's malignant narcissist and pathological liar, which makes him a demagogue.
It’s schadenfreude-tastic!!!🎉
Yes. I was raised on CS Lewis and if anyone thinks I was fooled by Charles Colson and Doug Coe, not for one minute
My vote in 2024 will be the Cheney Trump ticket Liz Cheney and Mary Trump😮
He thinks he liks to fight but one punch in the nose and he would cry and run away.
Trump has always been someone who is strong before the weak and weak before the strong. Having been President, he thinks everyone is weaker than him. And he is acting accordingly.
imagine writing a book and doing constant interviews all about someone with no redeeming value.
Oh nope! 😂😂😂
Maggie needs a good stuffing ,she looks so uptight !
Look for her appearance on Colbert. She loosens up a bit.
Liz has good aspects and she waises questions. Cheney is not a good name. I'm not sure about Maggie
DO YOU MEAN SHE “WEIGHTS” QUESTIONS?
I see the Trump campaign as being highly unprofessional while the Biden's has been the opposite. The claim by both Habberman and the presenter that Trump's campaign in 2024 is better than 2016 is laughable!
I smell mistrial.
