    I was fishing not far from you that day. Remember the drone flying over Centennial, so assume that was you from the beginning video montage. Fishing was epic! I have a pile of broken rods! Go to Trust Worthy Hardware in Soldotna and get the Okuma Kenai River Red rods for $67 they are durable and hold up to a lot of Sockeye! They have them in 8wt and 9wt. Anyway, back home as of last night, but brought home a ton of Salmon, one of our best years.

    You have to go to a place called ludiington Michigan, they have huge salmon! You got to go there around September when the water gets cool. I had one in about 15 minutes and it was my first time fishing for salmon it was HUGE! And I horsed him like a bass and lost him. I strongly recommend it!

    Snagging sockeye on the Kenai (Russian, wherever) is quite the fun outing. In freshwater you have to use the “flossing” snagging technique, but next time give the salt water snagging in Seward a try. You can use a weighted treble hook and your limit is double (3 freshwater, 6 saltwater).

      It’s not “snagging” it’s flossing fish. Yes there is a controversial views on this. It’s extremely popular in Alaska, I didn’t go this year just since I wasn’t the biggest fan and all. You bring a line across the water and a fish swims into the line by its mouth and gets a hook in the mouth, if you hook them anywhere else you have to release them. This type of fishing isn’t for fun, I’m doing this to bring food home!

    • @NASPELTZ
      @NASPELTZ  День назад

      People fish differnt ways in differnt parts of the world for differnt fish. This is just how they do it in AK, I was doing what the locals were doing, like I said it’s extremely popular and just a differnt way to fish, I thought it was worth a try to do it one time and see how people fish over there. Not everyone agrees with it, and I totally understand where you are coming from

    • @geddejagt6697

      It wasn’t personel, i have been to Canada to fish sturgeon, and people were catching ‘ red salmon’ ? The ones that get a hump and turn red… and they where doing it the same way, but it was possible to catch them true but it was hard and you didn’t get many…
      And I guess that you are fishing a fish that would not live long any way, I’m from Denmark and we only have Atlantic salmon, and they live on, we actually just banned this year based on catches killing any salmon because of a low rise of salmon in your rivers.. which I really like, take them when there are plenty and leave them when they are having a hard time😊
      Thanks for answering, still love you using european pike lures😊 the one from savage gear 3 or 4 D perch is one I would never leave without 😊😊 next time try the 40cm trout or 32 cm rouch if your casting they just catch fish !!!!
      Cheers

      @NASPELTZ  День назад

      @geddejagt6697 I’m gonna throw the 40 cm pike tommorow and try to get sometime filmed actually. I totally agree man, but ya these fish are going to their death as we are flossing for them, it’s a wierd way to fish but they don’t eat otherwise. And the amount of fishing going up river is unbelievable, 100s of thousands of fish each river go up that small river, and it seems even with everyone flossing for them the numbers stay high every year. I’m super big on catch and release fish and taking care of fish but some places just do things differently. Im looking into planning a trip to Canada to fish sturgeon as well, it’s been on my bucket list for ever
