The XY first episode is basically perfect except for Ash being electrocuted and falling down the Prism Tower, that was brutal for no reason, like how tf the Pokemon League would accept a gym that would kill everyone who doesn't have 4 gym badges? I liked literally everything else from this ep though.
I still can't believe Journeys gave us a such a nice episode about Pikachu's backstory only for the Kangaskhan to NEVER APPEAR IN THE REST OF THE SERIES Anyways, good video. All the series premieres are great episodes so it makes sense that the tier list ended up being top heavy.
I remember watching the first episode of pokemon Indigo league, back in 98, when I was a little kid and I cried when the sparrow were going to attack ash and pickachu sacrifice himself to save him. I think the first episode of all time is the quintessential pilot episode in the series. PS. The Pokémon Company apparently classifies Horizons as a series separate from all of Ash's adventures, even if the possibility of them existing in the same continuity still exists.
Overcharged Pikachu in AG having the Regi OST was such a banger. Episode 2 was great too. Team Magma seeking out the Oldale Ruins and the debut of Relicanth mislead us to that lore.
Imo, XY’s first episode is just so good! I love the ending with them running off to the Professors lab. It was truly were the Dream and Adventure began!
Personal take: i wasnt mad when ashs pikachu lost to trips snivy. Levels in the anime are different from the games, pikachu was nerfed by zekrom and ash is more concerned of his pokemon then winning.

Not a fan of you skipping johtos first episode, i know people say the johto seasons are a part of os, but i personally separate it from since i categorize the series by generation. With thet being said, even if you dont include it in the video, what are your thoughts on the first episode of the johto series??
BTW you Forgot all the other 1st episodes if going by (All) Different Seasons. Pallet Party Panic : Orange Islands Don't Touch that Dile : Johto Journeys etc., etc., etc. As well all the others I didn't mention. Can you do those as well?
I agree with everyone when they say Pokémon had a great first episode but after all these years the Original Series just feels boring now that we have better improved series to compare too but that doesn't mean I hate it after all it's the one that started it all for me as a Pokémon anime fan.
I personally disagree with the first Journey's episode being D tier. Having the first episode exploring Pikachu's origin story and how it learned about being loved and how it wants someone to show it love was actually quite good in explaining why Pikachu didn't have respect for Ash at the very beginning. I also believe it does a good job of setting up Goh's goal of wanting to catch Mew when he becomes a trainer even though the writers handled the ending of this goal poorly with Project Mew's conclusion. While I don't rate Journey's highly as a series overall, I do think the first episode does stand out in my opinion and is at least a B tier.
