- Bruce Lee - founder of Jeet Kune Do - a pioneer in modern Mixed Martial Arts (MMA).
I got tired of watching this video, on other RUclips channels, with the audio & video out of sync; so I audio-corrected it. I also tried a rudimentary upscale, with very little success... but, all in all, I think it's better overall.
Much of what Bruce discusses here is expounded upon in his book, "Tao of Jeet Kune Do", which I highly recommend.
Damn.. this guy ain't teaching fighting, he's teaching what life truly means

This man was so ahead of his time, it was an honor just to hear him speak.
Yes
same here man, I liked your statement (it was an honor just to hear him speak)
I disagree, he is a man of the past, embodying values that do not exist today.
@@BeKindToBirds , the values still exist they are now adapted into other things, merryweather adapted his boxing into the things bruce has said. This man was years ahead of his time for the mental awareness he had, if he still was alive the things he wouldve said would not have stopped here and it wouldve been even more years perfected. The fact that this man had an ideal that didnt even exist yet , later was adapted by not just mixed martial artists but boxers even now and to say these are things that dont exist today tells me you didnt pay attention in history class Or in life ever.
@@BeKindToBirds "the values don't exist today" they never existed you fool, not during that time, and not now. What he's speaking about transcends the superficial values of the past present and maybe even the future. It's deep and when you grasp it you can truly live your life exclusive to you and be your own person unlike any other.

Express yourself,
Have faith in yourself,

the interviewer was clearly not paying attention, he must have been thinking its a regular day at work. he was not ready for this magnanimous amount of wisdom. what bruce lee was telling is something you can hear once in a million lifetimes
The interviewer was a good match for Bruce Lee, as he was also very smart !

@Zeek Banistor Yeah sure.Everybody with no fuckin knowledge about fight styles can open school.Dude it s your wet dreams. This is reality.Who can let you open school?Only casual wet dreamer think like this. The guy who created mma,is just actor.Don t write another word. What I must to prove man?In 50-60 years no one got Iphone to take a video from his fights. If we don t have any video about his training and fights, than okay,it s reality, because we can t prove. But when the guy with weight 60-64kg punch with one fist the heavyweight karate champion on six inches. That s another story
In my 27 years, I just realized I never heard Bruce Lee speak before. So glad I looked this up.

What a great quote at the end there, I just wish the host wasn't a low key racist, and instead allowed him to continue talking on his points.
@@zekio77 yeah fr! I was getting that vibe from him.
@@james2091991 probably, bruce lee suffered from racism back then, but that never stopped him from getting what he wanted.
Can you be more charismatic than this young man??? The ending was brutal. Bruce Lee was a master, an aware sentient on the path towards truth. Cutting him while he was precisely unfolding his truth was a sin; almost like overhearing the secret of life and suddenly being interrupted... Yet, we have this interview, these precious moments. Thank you for this.
Absolutely right. I didn't like the interviewer much but then I realised that Bruce wasn't a star then and the guy was in the dark about what he would ultimately mean to the world.
That ending was very brutal.
all he had to do was say,
"Bruce Lee ladies and gentlemen"
The Charisma is OFF THE CHARTS ! So incredibly Artistic
I agree. There were moments within this interview were Bruce Lee was relaying a message through his philosophy and I believe there was more to be said but his train of thought was cut short by Pierre Burton. I feel if there was an openness to just listen, the interview would have been longer and more wholesome, to have Bruce shed more light to, as you said, secrets to a way of living that was truly down to earth 🌎 . Rest In Peace sir, TRULY, Rest In Peace. 🙏🏼
Pierre later said BL was the most intense man he ever met and was surprised how deep and smart he was compared to all the hundreds of celebrity's interviewed on his long talk show career.
Man Bruce Lee was centuries ahead in his thinking, he makes the interviewer look like he came from the dark ages.
😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂😂
Interviewer didnt even understand most of philosophical things Bruce Lee said
@@pargm9543 Yeah it’s clear everything went from one ear to the other they were basically speaking a different language. I honestly would’ve just preferred to have Bruce Lee talk to himself so he would actually at least be able to finish what he was saying.
@@thecringekid1929 bruce Lee explained deep knowledge behind every question but interviewer thought he was not answering his question.
“I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times.” - bruce lee
u also need to add a guy named gamma pehelwan of india whom bruce speak about 1 exercise 10000 times a day yes
Nobody:
Isaac Netero: Heard y’all was talking bout me
i believe this quote implies that focus aspects of martial arts. i feel like many people just go out there taking many different martial arts as possible to be comprehensive. However, many people forget that u got to have full training in one discipline at a time. Martial art is also the focus
What about 10 kicks 10,000 times
Jose Aldo leg kicks
The reason why people love and are so drawn to bruce lee is because he spent his life mastering to truly be himself 100% and you always get drawn to the truth ... because it's so real it's so pure it's so rare
He was so handsome, charismatic, and laid back. He didn't bash or put down other styles either. He was another breed. They don't make them like this anymore.
The interviewer clearly didn’t understand the magnitude of this interview....
Just goes to show how everything you’re doing matters at all times.
Guaranteed the interviewer here didn’t comprehend people 50 years later would be watching this

He knew enough to interview him. He gave him respect by asking him intelligent questions. Keep in mind the times.

Pierre Berton sounds like he's from 1940. Bruce Lee sounds like he's from 2020.
Exactly. Bruce was the first person to wear that cool iconic track suit on tv Addidas. Very stylish in his attire, mind, and thinking. Way ahead of his time. Think about it...Bruce was very young 20s to 32yrs old so possibly only 30yrs old in this interview.

Of course……people are becoming more stupid by the day. It’s called the dumbing down of all cultures. Technology makes people soft and lazy! Their was a time when men actually rode across this country on horse back! And they were smarter.
Can't believe it was half a hundred years ago....
If you really think that his thinking was way ahead of time, then that means you're simultaneously implying that an Oriental culture is way ahead of the west.
There is no such thing of ahead of time ; what he is trying to explain is the rule of balance this is a daoist concept ; he is using the yin and yang principle ; he firmly believes in his own ability to create his own path and all knowledge he adquires is understood ; converted and transformed into wisdom ; then he uses his intuition ( natural body functionality) for his own fighting techquine not following any outside rule but his own body as whole ( mind ; emotions ; natural movement ; qi energy) and combining that with control he means the self discipline of making all of the things mentioned in the paragraph to flow in harmony with each other in all level physical ; energetical qi ; soul center ; spiritual body ; astral body etc . There you have the natural and the unnatural . Hope it helps

I was thinking the same thing about the interviewer, but we have to keep in mind that none of us including him knew what Bruce Lee would end up becoming and how he would change the world. He was kind of flying blind. But yes, it was annoying.
Really? I liked the interviewer, just wish he would've let bruce talk more
Condescending? Not sure about that. Ignorant? To a degree. About Bruce and his beliefs for sure. But thats the point of the interview. To learn something from Bruce. Which I'm sure he did.
You have to consider the time period. People in the West only had a vague understanding of Asian martial arts philosophy from the Boxer Rebellion or from WW2.
God, Bruce Lee was ahead of his time. He never says "you know" all the time. He so smooth and natural when talking. R.I.P the great Bruce Lee.
@ if your ahead of a time, they die too early.
He just says 'therefore' and 'I mean' in front of a lot of sentences but I do agree that he was way ahead of his time
@@19main89 "therefore" and "I mean" is used by him however you can tell that he is well educated.
@@Adrianwesker definitely, certainly don't disagree fellow intellectual!
Bruce Lee's voice is pure ASMR gold.
🎯💯 Really is
The King of Kung Fu , very Great man , great philosopher, great actor , a Legend, a Icon . God bless him and his family
He was so smart ....I honestly wish I could have met him. His philosophy and knowledge was so amazing ❤
Read Tao of Jeet Kune Do if you haven't already!
*people have to realize this was going on thru the vietnam war and wasnt even 30 years after WW2 people were horrible toward asians Bruce Lee was a man ahead of his time, and was so undervalued and disrespected in his time*
What "people?
@@DiamondJones40 Whites. He's talking about post WWII, post Korean and Vietnam was raging. Bruce , to do what he did, DURING THE TIME HE DID IT, was phenomenal.
When people are really special, like him, it's not often that they make it out alive and live a full and long life and I dont know why. He knew too much or something.
Rest in paradise!
What an inspiration. Training every part of my body, doesn't necessarily have to do with martial arts. The brain has to be exercised a lot too. I wish you stayed with us longer, Bruce.
