Reason one for small entrants: side game. R2, there was no WT announced when they concluded in February so many people thought the game was done. R3, by the time the WT was announced it was like 1.5 months from Evo and Evo was already in late registration so it was very expensive. R4, this meta has been very toxic and many top players had already left for other games for all the reasons above and this as well.
I know that a lot of people are getting really excited for sparking zero, but I still cannot get over how much of a triumph dragon Ball fighterz is. Seriously, this game has no business being as good of a fighting game as it is also a dragon ball game. I feel like we're not going to see anything like this for a long time.
Fighterz is much better, than sparking, cause fighterz is playable when you aren't a pro player. Ofc I can't pull any of the combos pros do, but I can beat the story mode on my own. I've tried bt3, it's so incredibly complex that I had to put the game on easy difficulty to at least see a few story missions. In fighterZ I can spam X and use some skills randomly, in bt3 even the basic tutorial expects me to do some crazy combos
It's like one of the very few licensed anime game that has the mechanical complexity of an actual fighting game. Something we need more of but unfortunately might not get another in a long time because Arena fighters are just simply too much cheaper to produce.
His movement and footsies is top of the line. He doesn't have any crazy mix. He beats you with his ability to out maneuver you and make you hang yourself. The problem He has with Izsem is that izsem is a master at spacing and knowing when to take chances and he rarely drops his confirms and maximizes his hits into good mix. Izem is the better player overall. Hikari is very very good ans will take matches but he's weaker than him in the grand scheme
He literally has both, lol. Watch his double fusion + 17 team and say again that he doesn't. This was just the replacement team for him after they got nerfed (and honestly, he never should've switched)

The fact hikari didn’t apply the try something counter of jiren into his combos and gameplay is sad. He could’ve easily countered the pressure inzems assists were doing and the ki blasts from vegeta. Instead he was using the other counter which ain’t bad but it doesn’t counter everything
If sonicfox, go1, wawa, stayed on fighterz, then fighterz would have continued to be a big game at evo. But all the main people of fighterz left so a lot of viewers left fighterz as well.

Remember 2018 DBFZ Sonicfox vs GO1 in the Arena and how full and loud it was. The crowd here was bittersweet. I will always love this game
