Andy happened to know by watching RUclips, and Danny Boy has been sung by many singers, but his seductive voice itself has never deeply touched my heart in my life. Despite the same lyrics and songs, Andy is the first player to express this song emotionally. I can't believe Andy doesn't exist in this world right now and I think he'll come out once every 100 years.ANDY, I love you.

Andy Williams is the best that I've ever heard sing Danny Boy. When I hear this song, I always end up with with tears streaming down my cheeks. I think it's because I've been in the meadows when Summers return or when the valley's are hushed with snow. And those memories with friends and family are so strong, it just brings out the emotion.

For my money, this version by Andy Williams is the best I've seen. It's done live in a TV studio in front of a live studio audience and millions of folks watching on TV (back then, only three channels). Indeed his voice was so pure, so beautiful. And he sang those amazingly long notes with no punch-ins, no pitch correctors, no effects on his vocal... just his magnificently controlled vocal instrument, on perfect pitch, with such expression of loneliness... absolutely the best! He was an amazing talent, and funny as hell every week on his show... thanks for sharing this, Louis!

My grandpa died last September. He wished my cousins would learn this song they didn't before he died sadly. So last week we went on a six hour drive to my grandpas favorite lake where all the relatives would camp and have a great time. We all went there about 40 relatives from around America came to it and we camped for a few days. We put a shot of whiskey in his ashes then sunk it in his favorite fishing spot. (we tied together 5 boats). And after we did that my cousins sang this with a guitar and now every time I hear it I cry.

Probably the most underrated crooner ever. People talk about Frank Sinatra and Bing Crosby in sacred tones and of course, they did have their own unique magic. Technically however, Andy knew how to touch people deep with his voice and express a song with way more light and shade than all the others.

He is far more sensitive than either Crosby or Sinatra and a much better singer than either of them. He never had a cult following like those two did but he could sing circles around them both. If you want to know how not to sing this song, listen to Crosby, it'll put you to sleep. Bing had a very beautiful voice but he never touched the heart or even tried to. Sinatra sang from the heart but his voice was not that beautiful, really.

    Oh, Danny boy,
the pipes, the pipes are calling
    from glen to glen
    and down the mountainside.
    The summer's gone
and all the roses are falling.
    It's you, it's you
must go and I must bide.
    But come ye back
    when summer's in the meadow.
    Or when the valley's hushed
    and white with snow.
    It's I'll be here
    in sunshine or in shadow.
Oh, Danny boy, oh, Danny boy,
    I love you so.
Oh, Danny boy, oh, Danny boy,
    I love you so.

Danny Boy is a wonderful song, sung many times by many singers. It's only right that there should be versions that set another standard - defining versions of true beauty, by singers whose talent can do proper justice to the greatness of the song.

I can never listen to this song with out getting all teary. I've listened to it since I was a little girl and it's the only thing that gets me to sleep. it's comforting and makes think of my only friend in the whole entire world which happends to be my band teacher. Just so you know in a couple of years probably 4 to 6 years I will have a book published called "Peanut Head" about him and his name is Mr.K.

Andy Williams brought pleasure to so many. This is a wonderful example. I heard it sung first by Mario Lanza. I was in tears. Lanza had a quality that a new generation needs to experience like those of us who enjoyed Andy Williams. A new book pays homage to Lanza and most of all captures his essence: "A Kid from Philadelphia, Mario Lanza, the Voice of the Poets." Anyone who loves beautiful voices should read it. The book plus Lanza's recordings and You Tube clips show why he is a legend.

One of America's truly great crooners. This song was sung with such emotion and control. Another song never to be forgotten is "Moon River". I remember this man from my crib, and my mother singing "Moon River" to me.

What a beautiful song done as well as anyone could do it. TV used to be a unifying and enlightening force in America. You'd never see this today. Sad.

Thank You so very, very much for putting these wonderful clips of Andy Williams and his music ... we've lost a piece of our souls the day he died ... we should have our younger ones watch and listen to these beautiful songs and video clips ... then maybe, just maybe they might actually develope a deep appreciation for good music!
