Thank you, Emmet, for this most beautiful song which brings me back to Ireland and the heart-touching story of the Irish. Your rendition of this song is the best I have ever heard. I am glad that I have had the honour and pleasure to meet you, Emmet, in person ten years ago in Dublin. I hope we will meet again before I depart this world, so that I can hear you sing again. God bless you, Fr Henry Barlage, SVD.

Oh, Danny boy, the pipes, the pipes are calling
From glen to glen, and down the mountain side.
The summer's gone, and all the roses falling,
It's you, it's you must go and I must bide.
But come ye back when summer's in the meadow,
Or when the valley's hushed and white with snow,
It's I'll be here in sunshine or in shadow,
Oh, Danny boy, oh Danny boy, I love you so!
But when ye come, and all the flowers are dying,
If I am dead, as dead I well may be,
You'll come and find the place where I am lying,
And kneel and say an Ave there for me.
And I shall hear, though soft you tread above me,
And all my grave will warmer, sweeter be,
For you will bend and tell me that you love me,
And I shall sleep in peace until you come to me!

Amazing control, expression, perfect pitch and intonation. This young man has a glorious voice. Absolutely.
I only read a few comments. But not one mentioned the accompanist. Sad, that, because he is totally brilliant. My mother told me when one accompanies a singer, one must capture the mood, support but
N E V E R override the singer. The pianist is totally brilliant. Emmet's voice is brilliant and he deserves every compliment but the forgotten accompanist brings it up into the 'glorious' experience. Thank you, sir. I am sorry your name isn't
    listed. It should be.

Perfect pitch for sure...I have it and couldn't discern a single note out of tune. It's glorious when singer's have perfect pitch... I've heard some singers sound wonderful on recordings..they apparantly use auto tune, but they sound alarmingly bad in actual concert. This gentleman certainly has perfect pitch. Flawless performance.

Sharon the pianist is Seamus Brett. Emmet Cahill, the vocalist is a principle singer with the touring group Celtic Thunder. Seamus plays keyboards and is the assistant musical director for Celtic Thunder. Seamus is extremely gifted, as is Emmet. Emmet does have perfect pitch. Emmet also plays piano and violin. I just met him in Orlando, at a concert. He is not only gifted, but a perfect gentleman. He shared the scenario with a russian choir. At the end of the concert, my wife and I aporoached the russians, who rectulanly agreed to a selfie; but the leader was SO rude with me and my wife after that. In fact, they leave the placce immediately. But Cahill (honestly a much better artist) attended everyone; even his photographer took our Ipad to take some pictures of us. Cahill made some jokes and chatted with us. Great person!

@@Napp28 That is worrisome that Russian artists feel the need to be rude...gotta wonder about the political pressure on them back in Russia. Firstly, I laughed when I read the comment because, a "rude" Russian performer is almost a cliche' going back centuries!
But, as to your point, you're probably very correct regarding what they feel they cant communicate. When visiting family of mine in Poland, it is astonishing that whenever I take a picture, my older relatives automatically stop smiling and frown. My own mother (Canadian) said "Wow they all look so grumpy and miserable!" ... to which I say how seconds earlier, they were laughing and smiling. The older generation were taught NEVER to have evidence of happiness!

Every success to you Emmet and God Bless You.

    Absolutely incredible.
My uncle passed away yesterday and him and my other family used to sing this and loads of others at the end of family parties.
As kids we'd have been little tearaways but when they sang we stopped and listened in awe.
I've searched loads of versions to try and remind me of them and this is the one. Not Frank Patterson, not Jim Reeves , not Johnny Cash, all great in their own right but none captured what the song means to me personally.
    This did.
    Thank you for that.

The pipes are calling.... here The Netherlands are calling. - We must have heard hundreds of singers over the years singing Danny Boy. It needs certainly courage to sing it after so many big names(tenors(from John McCormack to USA-based Irishman Robert White) , baritons, sopranos(Norma Burrowes ánd e.g. folksinger Mary O'Hara) , mezzo's, contraltos(Bernadette Greevy) , counter tenors and treble singers(Belfasts Billy Neely). Many singers nowadays give it a "pop-touch" or too much an Irish folktouch (like at 0.21 min - only once(!) - ca-ha-ha-ha-ling, the almost unavoidable "decoration"), but to our great joy ("our" means a group of classical singers) we noticed that young Emmet Cahill (here 27 or 28 years) does it the classical way. Brilliant!. It's far more difficult to sing from one note straight to another and don't loose yourself in too much in between fringe. Here he shows that he is able to do it the way the big names sang it decades or half a century ago. Like e.g. James Johnston (Belfast tenor from long ago) or the late Kenneth McKellar (Scottish tenor, both active in Scottish and Irish repertoire). Emmet even dares to show his feelings, which results in coming very close to the hearts of the listeners. Not macho at all, but very vulnarable. Bravo! He is young and engaging and respects the old melody and reproduces it in a way, that you keep on coming back to this performence. Very well done Emmet, keep it this way, don't change this performance of Danny Boy. - **** p.s.We wonder if you are somehow related to 2 very big Cahill-names in Irish music. First Patricia Cahill (1945, very famous singer(soprano)in the seventies/eighties, one of her many LP's is called Danny Boy) and secondly the famous soprano Teresa Cahill(1944), who made a big international career. She lives in the UK now and Patricia in Spain. Related to any of them Emmet? And now that we discovered you , we start immediately to surf on youtube to find out what we missed in previous years. But this first acquaintance on youtube (may 2021, better late than never!) was already the find of the year and we came on your platform because of that famous name Cahill in Irish music. Good luck, good health and thanks for the joy you bring to many; us included . Love and admiration from overseas!

One of my best friends was Irish and a fairly recent immigrant to my country. He was a hard working man, his wife was lovely and very supportive, and their two kids were well manured and respectful. He had a beautiful voice and I forced him to sing this song at every chance. The ties to Ireland played upon them and they chose to return to their homeland. He got a job in security at the Belfast airport and was shortly afterward killed. This song used to be so pleasing and restful to me but now all I can feel is his death. Sad.
